The theory of representation, which has been an important topic of epistemology, has long history of study. But it has diverse meaning according to the fields of argument. In this paper the author set the meaning of mathematical representation as the interrelation of internal and external representations. With this concept, the following items were studied. 1. Survey on the concepts of mathematical representations. 2. Investigation of pedagogical significance of the mathematical representations, taking into account the characteristics of school mathematics. 3. Recommendation of principles for teaching representation to cope with the problems that are related with cause of disliking each domain of the secondary school mathematics. This study is expected to enable the development of teaching methods to help students strengthening their ability to comprehend mathematical sentences.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the formation of parental beliefs. For this study, 154 unmarried university students were asked to fill in a packet of survey questionnaire about parental beliefs, the internal representation of childhood, and communication with their parents. Data collected were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression by SPSS PC program. It was reported that the internal representation of parenting formed in childhood influences the development of rational authoritative beliefs, distancing beliefs, and direct authoritative beliefs. Also, the open communication with parents affected the distancing beliefs and rational authoritative beliefs.

Because of complexity, neural network is difficult to learn. So if internal representation[1] can be performed successfully, it is possible to use perceptron learning rule. As a result, learning is easier. Therefore the method of internal representations applied to the "XOR" problem, and the "spirals" problem. Since Homeros in Greece, Mimesis was thought to be an art to imitate the nature, and it means an imitation of the nature classically. Mimetic theories were set to be a kind of art work in the era of Renaissance, and the terminology of mimesis was widely used to replace it with an originality in the 15th century. The purpose of this study is to understand the aesthetics of mimesis expressed in media costume design. For this purpose, I investigated the theories of the mimesis, categorized the definition, then applied those categories for media costume design. Documentary studies were conducted through aesthetics, fashion books and demonstrative studies were processed by analyzing photos from collection fashion magazines and media DVD, video, fashion site of internet. In the history of aesthetics, the mimesis could be defined into three categories; the external representation mimesis, the internal symbol mimesis and the multiful meta mimesis. In media costume, the representation mimesis included design historical point of view, a period that of 1900s and ancient representation mimesis. The internal mimesis included symbol of religion, character, riches, psychology and fear mimesis. The multiful meta mimesis included hybrid and distortion mimesis. Analysis on the mimesis expressed in media costume design fashion may provide an excellent method for understanding human aesthetic in costume.

Active contours are deformable energy minimizing curves controlled by internal energy and external energy. The internal energy is constraint to preserve a smooth curve, and the external energy guides the curve towards image features. B-spline representation of active contours can be of great benefits in the segmentation and description whose shape is characterized by its defining polygon or control points. Menet et al proposed B-spline representation of active contours based on dynamic programming. The method is simple and efficient by comparing over finite difference method.

In this study, children's representation of attachment was assessed by the Attachment Story Completion Task(Bretherton, Ridgeway, & Cassidy, 1990) administered to 101 5-to 6-year-old children(56boys, 45girls). Teacher-child relationship and social competence were evaluated by a questionnaire administered to preschool teachers. Based on the children's representation of attachment in their narrative responses to the story stems, 56.4% of the children were classified as having secure, 22.8% as insecure-avoidant, and 20.8% as insecure-disorganized attachments. Children with secure representation of attachment exhibited more social competence and fewer behavioral problems in the child-care setting than children with insecure representation of attachment. This study showed that the child's internal model of attachment formed from experience with caregiver is capable of transmitting social relationships outside the home.

Chair is one of objects which are closely connected with human body and is a symbol which represents human essence and culture. Symbolism embodies the meaning of expression through transfering the immaterial structure to tangible form. Therefore chair embodies the essential internal desires of human by means of its symbolic representation. In order to understand the essential human desires included in the symbolism of chair it is necessary to consider these desires with respect to cultural and historical context. in this study four essential internal desires of human are investigated through the symbolic representation of chair that is the desires on human psychological comfort authority freedom and eroticism. The purpose of this study is to emphasize the necessity of the design approach based on the understanding of essential internal desires of human which is pursued from the object by user.

This paper reviewed the relationship between boundary spanning behaviors and service quality, and the moderating effect of gender. Based on the responses from 204 employees in outdoor-food franchising system, hierarchical regression analysis showed that service delivery has positive relationships with all service quality factors, and external representation and internal influence have partly positive relationship with them. Gender appeared to have partly moderating effect on the relationship between only internal influence and service quality.

This research studied differences in the distribution of maternal attachment representation between divorced and non-divorced low income mothers, associations between their divorce and childhood experiences, and associations between maternal attachment representation and childhood experiences. Subjects were twenty each divorced and still-married women with low socioeconomic status. The Adult Attachment Interview was used to assess their attachment representation resulting in classification by four types; autonomous (F), dismissing (Ds), preoccupied (E), or unresolved/disorganized (Ud). The divorced women had more childhood experiences of being rejected and neglected by their mothers than the non-divorced women. This indicates that maternal childhood experiences were related to maternal attachment representation and divorce.

This study investigated intergenerational transmission from mother's attachment representation to infant's attachment pattern and the associations between maternal attachment representation and their childhood experiences. Subjects were forty 12- to 15-month-old infants and their mothers. The Adult Attachment Interview (Main & Goldwyn, 1984) was used to assess mother's attachment representation. The Strange Situation (Ainsworth, 1978) was used to classify infant's attachment relationship. Mothers were classified as autonomous (F), dismissing (Ds), preoccupied (E), or unresolved/disorganized (Ud). Infants were classified as secure (B), insecure-avoidant (A), insecure-resistant (C), or insecure-disorganized (D). Exact A/B/C/D and Ds/F/E/Ud agreement was observed in 30 of 40 dyads(75%). Maternal childhood experiences were related to maternal attachment representation.
