This case report is to show the effects of Traditional Korean medicine (TKM) on the patient with delayed encephalopathy after carbon monoxide poisoning. A patient with delayed encephalopathy after carbon monoxide poisoning occurs rarely and only a few cases have been reported. We treated a patient with cognitive deficit, gait disturbance was treated with herbal medicine(Boshiniknoe-tang-gami), acupuncture, moxibustion. We evaluated the improvements of symptoms by Korean Version of Mini Mental Status Examination score(K-MMSE), Modified Barthel Index(MBI) and Glasgow Coma Scale(GCS). After 3 weeks, total score of K-MMSE was increased from 12 to 17 and it was maintained to week 6. After 6 weeks, total score of MBI was increased from 30 to 86. And GCS was increased from 11 to 14. This report proved effect of Traditional Korean medicine on the improvement of delayed encephalopathy after carbon monoxide poisoning

Dementia is classified into Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia and secondary dementia by its causes. Alzheimer's disease is hard to expect cognitive improvement, whereas vascular dementia and secondary dementia are reversible by medical treatments Dementia can be categorized as Chi-Mae(痴?), Geon-Mang(健忘), Huh-Ro(虛勞), Guang(狂), in the oriental medicine and treated by 'purgation therapy' when it is classified into excessive syndrome. We observed some significant improvements in the cognitive function from three patients diagnosed vascular dementia and secondary dementia by herbal medications of $\ulcorner$Dong-Eui-Su-Sheh-Bo-Won(東醫壽世保元)$\lrcorner$. We report the process of the treatment.

Intracranial tuberculoma is very rare nowadays. It is very difficult to differentiate tuberculoma from other space-occupying lesions. CT and MRI and intensive systemic review is very useful to diagnose intracranial tuberculoma. This case of patient had several symptoms of hemiparesis, headache. And we supposed that his symptoms were due to cerebrovascular accident at entry. But he was diagnosed as tuberculoma with brain edema in cerebrum. After treating him with mannitolization, acupuncture and herb medicine, his symptoms were remarkably improved. So we report this case of tuberculoma in cerebrum.

Patients with diffusely increased uptake in both kindeys("hot kidney") on the $^{99m}Tc-MDP$ bone imagings were evaluated. Total incidence of the "hot kidney" was 2.7% (56/2053). Among 56 patients with "hot kidney", the most common diseases were malignancies (30), and the remainders were composed of renal diseases(11) and other disease group(16). We report the possible factors for the "hot kidney" with brief review of some literatures.

Epilepsy is a neurological condition that from time to time produces brief disturbances in the normal electrical functions of the brain, Normal brain function is made possible by millions of tiny electrical charges passing between nerve cells in the brain and to all parts of the body. They may affect a person's consciousness, bodily movements or sensations for a short time. These physical changes are called epileptic seizures. These clinical data, gathered an epileptic seizure whose main symptom was convulsion, was analyzed. This clinical report pertains to a 51 year-old man who suffered an epileptic seizure and after effects of weakness. He was treated with ChongsimOndamTang(淸心溫膽湯). The cheif symptom, epileptic seizure, disappeared and general conditions improved after Korean medical treatments, so this is reported as a potential treatment.

Herpes zoster is a viral disease characterized by unilateral radicular pain and vesicular eruptions that are generally limited to the dermatome innervated by single spinal or cranial sensory ganglion. The disease causes severe pain and in particular, put elderly patients in great risks and further it develops postherpetic nenralgia. Nowadays western medicine use antiviral durg(ex: acyclovir), analgesics, nerve block and etc for treatment of herpes zoster and pain control, but the effect is not much satisfactory. A 73-year-old patient, admitted to our hospital because of severe migrain. Two days later, her illness was diagnosed as herpes zoster so we administrated Yongdamsagan-tang. After the six-day of treatment, all symptoms improved, especially headache was cleared since the four day long administration of Yongdamsagan-tang.

This is clinical report of one patient with pneumonia in stroke who improved with the administration of an herb drug. During treatment for stroke, he broke out with pneumonia, a complication of stroke, which was confirmed by chest radiography. He was administrated Hwangkibyulgap-tang with antibiotics because of old age middle stage pneumonia. After administration, the symptoms improved and chest x-ray film showed no pneumonic finding. This result suggests that oriental medicine is an effective treatment for pneumonia but more clinical case reports are needed.

Alcohol withdrawal syndrome includes two or more of the following symptoms: autonomic hyperactivity, increased hand tremor, insomnia, nausea or vomiting, hallucinations of illusions, psychomotor agitation, anxiety, grand mal seizures. Symptoms are usually relieved by administering brain depressant. In oriental medicine, Ju sang correspond to alcohol withdrawal syndrome. Galhwahaesung-tang has been used for the treatment of Ju sang. The authors treated 2 cases of alcohol withdrawal syndome with Galhwahaesung-tang and symptoms are markedly improved. So, We report these case with a brief review of related literatures.

Objectives: This study reports the effectiveness of acupuncture and moxibustion for Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy concurrent with Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy. Case presentation: A 58-year-old male was admitted for hand numbness and foot pain after his sixth chemotherapy. He was treated with acupuncture and moxibustion for 18 days. Symptoms were evaluated with a numeric rating scale (NRS). After 18 days of treatment, his foot pain improved from NRS 4 to NRS 2. His hand numbness disappeared. Conclusion: This study suggests that acupuncture and moxibustion can be used for managing diabetic peripheral neuropathy concurrent with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy.

Objective : This experimental study was carried out to investigate the effects of Persicae Semen(PS) and Caesalpiniae Lignum(CL) on the intravascular coagulation which is considered as thrombosis. Methods : Rats were pretreated orally with PS and CL extracts(PS: 8.45mg/100g, CL: 4.4mg/100g), and 1 hour later, to induce thrombosis, were given an endotoxin(0.01mg/100g) injection into the caudal vein. After 4hours we collected blood by cardiac puncture and measured the platelet count, the prothrombin time, the level of fibrinogen and the FDP(fibrinogen degradation product). Results : PS and CL supressed the decrease of the Platelet count and the prolongation of prothrombin time. In these factors, both groups showed significant effect. Both groups supressed the decrease of the fibrinogen level and the increase of the FDP level. But, only the PS group showed a significant effect on the fibrinogen level, and only the Cle CL group showed a significant effect on FDP level. Conclusions : PS had significant effects on the platelet count, the prothrombin time, and the FDP level. CL had significant effects on the platelet count, the prothrombin time, and the fibrinogen level. Therefore, PerSicae Semen and Caesalpiniae Lignum seem to be applicable to treating the diseases related to thrombosis.
