In order to reserve frequency bands for stable operation of the Korean Positioning System (KPS), it must be demonstrated that the impact of interference caused by KPS on other services operating in the same bands is tolerable. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) provides the radio regulations and a compatibility assessment methodology for the coexistence of different services in limited frequency resources. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the radio regulations regarding the compatibility issues between the KPS and other services sharing the same frequency bands. The results of the investigation show that the RNSS system can be operated in the L5-band under the condition that the Power Flux Density (PFD) and Aggregated Equivalent PFD (AEPFD) thresholds specified in the radio regulations are met. In addition, the ITU recommends that the interference-to-noise ratio (INR) protection criteria be met to prevent degradation of the performance of radar systems operating in the L2/L6-band. In the case of the S-band, coordination of allocations for RDSS space stations with respect to terrestrial services is not required if the PFD does not exceed regulated thresholds regulated by ITU.
Downlink transmit power allocation schemes are proposed for soft fractional frequency reuse (FFR) in loose and tightly coordinated systems. The transmit powers are allocated so that the loss of spectral efficiency from the soft FFR is minimized, and the required cell edge user throughput is guaranteed. The effect of the soft FFR on spectral efficiency is evaluated depending on the power allocation schemes and the number of subbands. Results show that the loss of spectral efficiency from the soft FFR can be reduced by configuring an appropriate number of subbands in the loosely coordinated systems. In tightly coordinated systems, results show that the loss of spectral efficiency can be minimized regardless of the number of subbands due to its fast coordination.

In this paper, we discuss frequency allocation and sharing for high speed radio access network in domestic 5㎓ the band. In order to evaluate the possibility of frequency sharing between meterological radar and high speed radio access network we analyses radio interference of meterological radar by means of minimum coupling loss method and Monte Carlo simulation And simulations show that it is necessary to use DFS(Dynamic Frequency Selection) scheme for frequency sharing between meterological radar and high speed radio access network.
Throughput and quality-of-service (QoS) over multi-cell environments are two of the most challenging issues that must be addressed when developing next generation wireless network standards. Currently, multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO), inter-cell coordination and multi-hop relay technologies are viable options for improving channel capacity or coverage extension. Nevertheless, severe QoS degradation occurs in the outer region of multi-cells due to significant interference from neighboring cells or relay stations, thereby limiting overall performance. Therefore, we propose a scheme which adapted to hybrid relaying.

In this paper, a modified PCF (Point Coordination Function) MAC (Medium Access Control) Protocol is proposed to support the multiple direct link communication between STAs (STAtions) in infrastructure mode IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs. By the proposed MAC protocol, the direct link communication between STAs, which are located within the communication range of each other, is allowed without the use of AP (Access Point) as a relay. Moreover, when multiple direct data communication between STAs can be simultaneously performed with a sufficiently small interference, multiple simultaneous direct link communication is allowed for the efficient use of radio bandwidth. AP polls STAs to grant the transmission opportunities using the direct link communication by transmitting the polling frames to STAs. An efficient polling method for granting the transmission opportunities to STAs is proposed to reduce the number of the polling frame transmissions and enhance the PCF MAC performance.

Even though extensive research results have been applied to wireless cellular systems to improve their capacity and coverage, severe performance degradation experienced in cell boundary areas still remains as a major limiting factor to prohibit further improvement of user equipment (UE) throughput. In the Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) standard of the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), Some advanced techniques have been introduced to overcome this "cell-edge problem", including coordinated multipoint transmission and reception (CoMP) and inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC). In this paper, we propose yet another strategy to improve the performance of low-tier UEs by using the concept of multiple beam direction patterns (BDPs). Such multiple BDPs can be implemented using multi-layer antenna arrays stacked vertically at base station (BS) sites to transmit signals in different main beam directions. In comparison to conventional three-sector antennas with a fixed beam pattern, the proposed methods makes signal transmission in a rotational fashion to significantly enhance the reception quality of UEs located near sector (or cell) edge areas, preventing the situation where certain UEs are marginally covered by the BS for the whole transmission time. Performance evaluation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional three-sector transmission by 171% in low 5% UEs in terms of the UE throughput.

In this paper, the derivation of protection ratio is newly proposed for the detailed planning of frequency coordination in microwave relay networks, and computed results for protection ratio of co-channel and adjacent channel are illustrated over the actual system and its frequency. It is shown that the suggested method based upon availability prediction can be expressed in terms of composite fade margin, interference-to-noise ratio(I/N), net filter discrimination, and system parameters. According to results, for 6.7 GHz, 60 km, 64-QAM, and I/N= -6 dB at BER $10^{-6}$, composite fade margin and co-channel protection ratio provide 25.5 and 50.7 dB, respectively. Also, net filter discrimination and adjacent channel protection ratio are obtained as 26.3 and 24.4 dB, respectively, at the first adjacent channel of 40 MHz. The proposed method provides some merits in computing protection ratio for microwave relay networks in view of an easy extension and practical applications considering more detailed and various system parameters.

High altitude platform station(HAPS) is being developed actively in some countries as well as Korea. At the same time Resolution 734 was adopted in WRC-2000 to study the sharing of HAPS into the existing fixed services in the bands above 3GHz. As one of the sharing studies, interferences between HAPS and radio-relay stations should be analyzed by dividing into two cases, the one is the interference effects of HAPS system into radio-relay stations and on the contrary, the other that of radio-relay stations into HAPS system. Since the former case had been already studied, only the latter case will be focused on this paper. Analysis result shows that the coordination distance must be needed above 100 km when the trendline of radio-relay is located vertical to HAPS service area and the transmitting power is -50 dBW/MHz.
