  • Mental health issues related to depression and individual's patterns of interest impact development. This study is to identify patterns of interest and their effects on depressive symptoms in young adults. This cross-sectional study involved 40 participants. The participants were assessed for depressive symptoms, patterns of interest in daily life, and social participation. The depressive symptoms and patterns of interest were assessed by a well-trained interviewer using a face-to-face method. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and logistic regression analysis were implemented using SPSS 22.0. In terms of depressive symptoms, 32.5% of participants reported no depression, while 67.5% were depressed. When comparing interest patterns from the past, present, and future, the degree of depression was significantly correlated with interests in the past (p<.05). The effect of patterns of interest on depressive symptoms was not statistically significant (p>.05). Participation in a variety of activities can help prevent depressive symptoms. Participation in activities of interest can, therefore, be of great help during middle- and late-adult development.

  • This study examines how the health of the banks in ASEAN-3 countries namely Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand respond to the change in exchange rates and foreign interest rates in four large economies. The transmissions of the two external factors through domestic factors in each ASEAN-3 countries eventually affects Non-Performing Loan (NPL) of commercial banks. This study uses the monthly time series data and the renowned Structural Vector Autoregressive (VAR) model comprising five variables, namely exchange rate, foreign interest rate, domestic interest rate, money supply, and non-performing loan (NPL). The results indicate that there are different effects between ASEAN-3 countries, which can be classified as short-run effect and long-run effect. In the long run effect, external factors have a dominant role in determining NPL in ASEAN-3 countries. Yuan has the biggest effect on Malaysia's NPL, while Indonesia is more affected by European interest rates rather than the fluctuation of the US currency and China's interest rates. Among ASEAN-3 countries, Malaysia is the one that is the most vulnerable to external factors. While Thailand's NPL is affected dominantly by domestic factors. This study shows that the Fed Funds Rate (US official interest rate) is not always the dominant factor affecting the health of domestic banks in ASEAN-3.

  • Objectives : This study was carried out with the aim of utilizing it as basic data in a plan for oral health promotion by analyzing oral-health awareness in high school students of some districts in our country, and by analyzing physical, mental and social influential factors in oral health, through using OHIP(Oral Health Impact Profile). Methods : It surveyed by carrying out self-administered questionnaire research targeting 536 boy & girl high school students in the 1st and the 2nd grade at 3 high schools in some districts of Gyeonggi Province. Results : 1. As for experience of having not visited dental clinic, a case of having not visited accounted for 32.5%. On the other hand, a case of having visited accounted for 67.5%. As for the appearance of oral health education, only 2.8% responded as saying of having experience. 97.2% responded as saying of having not taken oral health education. 2. As for oral health state perceived by oneself, the response as saying of 'thinking it to be healthy' and that 'there is something wrong' showed the distribution of 34.1% that is the same ratio. As for oral health interest, a case of having a little interest(58.4%) or of being so much interested(12.5%) showed 70.9%. A case of having no special interest(24.8%) or of having no interest at all(4.3%) showed the level of 29.1%.3. As for oral health knowledge, the toothbrushing knowledge was the highest with 4.54 marks out of 6-point perfection. The toothbrush knowledge(4-point perfection) showed low point with 2.05 marks. 4. By gender, a case of men was high in OHIP(Oral Health Impact Profile) for the functional restriction and physical pain. On the other hand, in the remaining sphere, women were indicated to be high in OHIP. The statistically significant difference was indicated in the spheres such as physical pain, psychological discomfort, a drop in psychological ability, a drop in social ability, and social separation. 5. According to oral health state perceived by oneself, a case of thinking it to be healthy was indicated to be high in OHIP for every sphere. A case of thinking it to have gum disease was indicated to be low in OHIP for every sphere. The statistically significant difference was indicated in every sphere except the sphere of functional restriction. 6. As for a factor of having influence upon OHIP according to oral health knowledge, it was indicated that the higher toothbrush knowledge leads to having more influence upon OHIP. Conclusions : It could be known that the oral health knowledge and OHIP are varied as well according to the oral health interest level. Also, the oral health education proper for subjects is not being performed. Even as for frequency of visiting the dentist, a regular visit is failing to be made. In consideration of these points, the diversified and effective educational program is likely considered to be necessarily developed and improved that subjects can have more interest in oral health.

  • This study was intended to provide basic data for increasing the interest in health projects for the public servants and local residents in the period ahead by examining the difference in the degree of interest in health projects among the public servants at resident centers and the residents. For that, 46 public servants at resident centers and 107 local residents were sampled, and their degree of interest in specific health projects was analyzed based on Chi-Square and independent sample t-test. Based on comprehensive consideration of the results of analysis, public servants at resident centers were found to have lower interest in health projects than local residents. The results of this study showed that the public servants at resident centers had lower interest in health projects than local residents. That arises from the consideration that specialization is important for implementation of special works. Thus, this study needs to focus on expanding the role of public servants to ensure that resident centers can take on integrated role related to public health. Therefore, the results of this study can provide basic data for expanding the role of public servants at resident centers. Moreover, the results of this study suggested that various ways need to be explored to increase the interest in health projects for local residents.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between interest in smoking cessation and factors that define this interest. The study subjects were 593 male civil servants who work at D metropolitan city and were smokers at the time of the survey. The research method was a survey using a self-administered questionnaire in October 2015. Interest in smoking cessation of study subjects showed that 28.3% had no interest in smoking cessation, 45.7% were interested in smoking cessation, but had no intention to quit within six months, and 26.0% were interested in smoking cessation and intended to quit within six months. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the factors influencing interest in smoking cessation with explanatory powers of 23.6% were employment type, age when first starting smoking, number of cigarettes smoked per day, time from when you wake up until you smoke your first cigarette, recognition of susceptibility to lung cancer, and benefits to smoking cessation. Logistic regression analysis revealed that the odds ratio of recognition of susceptibility for lung cancer, benefits to smoking cessation, and barriers to smoking cessation were significantly increased in the group with interest in smoking cessation and intention to quit within six months vs. the group with no interest in smoking cessation. Taken together, these results suggest that cancer prevention due to smoking and awareness of the seriousness of health problems caused by smoking were factors increasing interest in smoking cessation.

  • The purpose of this study was to make a comparative analysis of nursing students interest in health matters concerning themselves and compare it to non-nursing students. The results were to be categorized and used as health content recommendation when organizing health curriculum and planning health education programmes. The instruments used this study were 'The Health Inventory and The Health Need Inventory introduced to 80 items from 125 items by Lee in Korea(1980). There was a very high correlation between the 125 items and condensed 80 items (r=0.9508, t=11.0643. p<.001). The convenience sample was chosen from 226 nursing students and 204 non-nursing students in the departments of humanities of college in Inchun and Ansan from March 4 to April 5. 1996. Data were analyzed by the SAS computer Program. The results are as follow: When comparing health interest of nursing student group with non-nursing student group, total group mean of nursing students was significantly higher than that of non-nursing students (t=2.977 p<.01). But the rank order of the nursing student group was similar to that of the non-nursing group. and what nursing student felt interested was coincident with what non-nursing students felt as being necessary. The most interested health area between nursing student and non-nursing students were ${\ulcorner$personal hygiene & grooming${\lrcorner}$ ${\ulcorner$weight control${\lrcorner}$, ${\ulcorner$sex education${\lrcorner}$ ${\ulcorner$mental health${\lrcorner}$. On the other hand the least interested health areas were. ${\ulcorner$smoking and health${\lrcorner}$ ${\ulcorner$alcohol and health${\lrcorner}$, ${\ulcorner$drug and narcotics${\lrcorner}$ In non -nursing students but in nursing students ${\ulcorner$structure and function of body${\lrcorner}$, ${\ulcorner$dental health${\lrcorner}$ ${\ulcorner$safety${\lrcorner}$. Comparing students health interest by major In college, total group mean of nursing students is significantly higher than that of non-nursing students in 14 health areas including ${\ulcorner$community health${\lrcorner}$, ${\ulcorner$control and prevention disease${\lrcorner}$ ${\ulcorner$consumer health${\lrcorner}$ ${\ulcorner$family health${\lrcorner}$ ${\ulcorner$mental health${\lrcorner}$ ${\ulcorner$personal hygiene and grooming${\lrcorner}$ ${\ulcorner$safety${\lrcorner}$ ${\ulcorner$structure and function of body${\lrcorner}$, ${\ulcorner$sex education${\lrcorner}$ ${\ulcorner$alcohol and health ${\lrcorner}$ ${\ulcorner$ drug and narcotics${\lrcorner}$ and ${\ulcorner$smoking and health${\lrcorner}$ The following recommendations could be made considering the above mentioned factors: 1. The priority of health content should reflect the items to the highest interest area of students and highest need area of adults. 2. The health items which were significantly different in the area of health interest, by major, should be used in planning health education programmes and organizing health curricula.

  • Community portraits can deeply explore the characteristics of community structures and describe the personalized knowledge needs of community users, which is of great practical significance for improving community recommendation services, as well as the accuracy of resource push. The current community portraits generally have the problems of weak perception of interest characteristics and low degree of integration of topic information. To resolve this problem, the reader community portrait method based on the thematic and timeliness characteristics of interest labels (UIT) is proposed. First, community opinion leaders are identified based on multi-feature calculations, and then the topic features of their texts are identified based on the LDA topic model. On this basis, a semantic mapping including "reader community-opinion leader-text content" was established. Second, the readers' interest similarity of the labels was dynamically updated, and two kinds of tag parameters were integrated, namely, the intensity of interest labels and the stability of interest labels. Finally, the similarity distance between the opinion leader and the topic of interest was calculated to obtain the dynamic interest set of the opinion leaders. Experimental analysis was conducted on real data from the Douban reading community. The experimental results show that the UIT has the highest average F value (0.551) compared to the state-of-the-art approaches, which indicates that the UIT has better performance in the smooth time dimension.

This study investigated 889 subjects, and at each corresponding age, who were collected among the trainers at the Civil Defense Training Institute in K-ku, Incheon City. The data collection period lasted from April to July of 2003. I revised and complemented the measurement tool for the Health Improvement Life Style developed by Jung Eun-Kyung. For analysis of the acquired data. I used SPSS11.0 program. The study shows that the Health Improvement Action of a group of middle aged men averaged 2.80, and 0.44 point out of 5. According to the results found during the analysis of the generic characters of differences in behaviors of Health Improvement. It was revealed that there were significant differences in age, regular exercise and health interest, stress management, self-concept as well as degrees of interest in health, and education level. According to monthly income levels, regular exercise and degrees of self-concept degrees were significantly different from each other. According to marital status. balanced diet and regular exercise were related to each other. According to religion, balanced diet, stress management degree, self concept degree, and degrees of interest in health, significant differences were shown. Based on the earlier mentioned results, we should pay attention to act more, rather than merely recognize the development of the health improvement program of our regional community. Also, it is necessary to find out the cause, which lowers men's interest in health.
