Due to the extension of communication ways (metro, highways, railways), hence, to improve traffic flow imposes often the difficult crossing that generally drive to the construction of underground works (tunnel, water conveyance tunnel...) plays a major role in the redevelopment of urban areas. This study is focused on the assessment of the interaction response of parallel tunnels, so this study uses the results from the simulation of two tunnels to illustrate a few observations that may aid in practical designs. In this article, simultaneous drilling of highway's twin tunnels is simulated by means of Finite Element Method (FEM) implemented in Plaxis program. So the treated subject appears in a setting of geotechnical where one can be to construct several tunnels sometimes in a ground of weak mechanical characteristics. The objective of this study is to simulate numerically the interaction effects caused by construction of two parallels tunnels. This is an important factor in the study of the total answer of the problem interaction between parallels underground works. The importance of the effects transmitted is function of several parameters as the type of the works, and the mechanical characteristics (tunnel size, depth, and the relative position between two tunnels, lining thickness...). This article describes numerical analyses of two parallels tunnels interaction. This study will be applied to a real case of a section tunnel T4 of the highway East-West (Algeria); the study presented below comprises a series of numerical simulations of two tunnels using the computer program Plaxis which is used in the analyses is based on Finite Element Method.
The CANDU element bowing is attributed to actions of both the thermally induced bending moments and the bending moment due to hydraulic drag and mechanical loads, where the bowing is defined as the lateral deflection of an element from the axial centerline. This paper consider only the thermally-induced bending moments which are generated both within the sheath and the fuel and sheath by an asymmetric temperature distribution with respect to the axis of an element The generalized and explicit analytical formula for the thermally-induced bending is presented in con-sideration of 1) bending of an empty tube treated by neglecting the fuel/sheath mechanical interaction and 2) fuel/sheath interaction due to the pellet and sheath temperature variations, where in each case the temperature asymmetries in sheath are modelled to be caused by the combined effects of (i) non-uniform coolant temperature due to imperfect coolant mixing, (ii) variable sheath/coolant heat transfer coefficient, (iii) asymmetric heat generation due to neutron flux gradients across an element and so as to inclusively cover the uniform temperature distributions within the fuel and sheath with respect to the axial centerline. As the results of the sensitivity calculations of the element bowing with the variations of the parameters in the formula, it is found that the element bowing is greatly affected relatively with the variations or changes of element length, sheath inside diameter, average coolant temperature and its variation factor, pellet/sheath mechanical interaction factor, neutron flux depression factor, pellet thermal expansion coefficient, pellet/sheath heat transfer coefficient in comparison with those of other parameters such as sheath thickness, film heat transfer coefficient, sheath thermal expansion coefficient and sheath and pellet thermal conductivities.
When a structure is constructed at the site composed of soil, the behavior of a structure is much affected by the characteristics of soil. Therefore, the effect of soil-structure interaction is an important consideration in the design of a structure at the site composed of soil. Precise analysis of soil-structure interaction requires a proper description of soil profile. However, most of approaches are nearly unpractical for soil exhibiting material discontinuity and complex geometry since those cannot consider precisely complicated soil profiles. To overcome these difficulties, an improved integration method is adopted and enables to integrate easily over an element with material discontinuity. As a result the mesh can be generated rapidly and highly structured, leading to regular and precise stiffness matrix. The influence of soil profile on the response is examined by the presented method. It is seen that the presented method can be easily used on soil-structure interaction problems with complicated soil profile and produce reliable results regardless of material discontinuities.
The object of the present work is the natural lre%uency analysis of femto slider, HeaHdisk interaction during starustop and constant speed were detected by using the acoustic emission (AE) test system. The frequency spectrum analysis wasperformed using the AE signal obtained during the head/disk interaction. The FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) analysis of the AEsignals is used to understand the interaction between the AE signal and the state of contact. Natural frequency analysis wasperformed using the ANSYS program. The results indicate acceptable accordance of finite element calculation results with theexperimental results.
The effect of shear coupled with axial force variation on the inelastic seismic behaviour of reinforced concrete bridge piers is investigated in this paper. For this purpose, a hysteretic axial-shear interaction model was developed and implemented in a nonlinear finite element analysis program. Thus, flexure-shear-axial interaction is simulated under variable amplitude reversed actions. Comparative studies for shear-dominated reinforced concrete columns indicated that a conventional FE model based on flexure-axial interaction only gave wholly inadequate results and was therefore incapable of predicting the behaviour of such members. Analysis of a reinforced concrete bridge damaged during the Northridge (California 1994) earthquake demonstrated the importance of shear modelling. The contribution of shear deformation to total displacement was considerable, leading to increased ductility demand. Moreover, the effect of shear with axial force variation can significantly affect strength, stiffness and energy dissipation capacity of reinforced concrete members. It is concluded that flexure-shear-axial interaction should be taken into account in assessing the behaviour of reinforced concrete bridge columns, especially in the presence of high vertical ground motion.
A high-order accurate Euler flow solver based on a discontinuous Galerkin finite-element method has been developed for the numerical simulations of blade-vortex interaction phenomena on unstructured meshes. A free vortex in freestream was investigated to assess the vortex-preserving property and the accuracy of the present flow solver. Blade-vortex interaction problems in subsonic and transonic freestreams were simulated by adopting a multi-level solution-adaptive dynamic mesh refinement/coarsening technique. The results were compared with those of other numerical and experimental methods. It was shown that the present discontinuous Galerkin flow solver can preserve the vortex structure for significantly longer vortex convection time and can accurately capture the complex unsteady blade-vortex interaction flows, including generation and propagation of acoustic waves.

In this study, the seismic analysis of rack structure with fluid-structure interaction is performed through use of the Finite Element Method(FEM) code ANSYS. Fluid-structure interaction can specify in terms of an hydrodynamic effect which is defined as the added mass per unit length divided by the area of the cross section. Using the Floor Response Spectrum(FRS) obtained through the time-history analysis, modal analysis and seismic analysis under Operating Basis Earthquake(OBE) and Safe Shutdown Earthquake(SSE) condition is carried out. The fluid-structure interaction effects on the rack structure are investigated.

It is improtant to examine life or crack propagation behavior of structures because of its safety evaluation. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of crack-crack interaction to evaluate fatigue life and crack behavior. In this study, the behavior of the interaction of two cracks is studied by experiment. The vertical distance of two cracks is varied to make different interaction stress field. In addition, the effect of plastic zone is considered to examine crack propagation path and propagation rate.
