The objective of this experiment is to observe the elastic and inelastic behaviors of high-rise reinforced concrete frames with nonseimic details. To do this, a building frame designed according to Korean seismic code and detailed in the Korean conventional manner was selected. An 1:12 scale plane frame model was manufactured according law. Reversed lateral load tests and monotonic push-over test were performed under the displacement control. To simulate the earthquake effect, the lateral force distribution was maintained to be an inversed triangular by using whiffle tree. From the tests, story displacements, lateral story forces, local plastic rotations and the relations between inter-story drift versus story shear are obtained. Based on the test results, conclusions on the characteristics of the elastic and behaviors of a high-rise reinforced concrete frame with nonseismic details are drawn.
This paper describes a new algorithm for encoding spectral envelope in the time domain alias cancellation (TDAC) part of G.729.1. The spectral envelope and modified discrete cosine transform (MDCT) coefficients of the weighted code-excited linear predictive (CELP) coding error in lower-band and the higher-band input signal are encoded in the TDAC part. In order to reduce allocation bits for spectral envelope coding, a new algorithm using sub-band correlation between adjacent frames is proposed. In addition, to improve the quality of decoded signals, two bit allocation strategies using reduced bits from the proposed algorithm are proposed. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated in terms of objective quality and bit reduction rates. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm increases the quality of sounds significantly.
This letter presents a very simple yet very effective solution for fast reference frame (RF) selection in H.264/AVC. By efficiently making use of the correlation between the best RF indices in various inter modes, the proposed method significantly reduces the number of RFs to be examined at the expense of a very small miss rate. Simulation results show that the proposed method not only improves upon the coding performance of conventional methods but also reduces the encoding time significantly.

The requirement to safe and economical buildings caused to the exploitation of nonlinear capacity structures and optimization of them. This requirement leads to forming seismic design method based on performance. In this study, concentrically braced frames (CBFs) have been optimized at the immediate occupancy (IO) and collapse prevention (CP) levels. Minimizing structural weight is taken as objective function subjected to performance constraints on inter-story drift ratios at various performance levels. In order to evaluate the seismic capacity of the CBFs, pushover analysis is conducted, and the process of optimization has been done by using Bee Algorithm. Results indicate that performance based design caused to have minimum structural weight and due to increase capacity of CBFs.
In this paper, we proposed realtime visual tracking system of moving object for 2D target using extended Kalman Filter Algorithm. A targeting marker are recongnized in each image frame and positions of targer object in each frame from a CCD camera while te targeting marker is attached to the tip of the SCARA robot hand. After the detection of a target coming into any position of the field-of-view, the target is tracked and always made to be located at the center of target window. Then, we can track the moving object which moved in inter-frames. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the Kalman filter algorithm for realtime tracking and estimated state value of filter, predicting the position of moving object to minimize an image processing area, and by reducing the effect by quantization noise of image
This is paper presents the results of an analytical study aimed at evaluating the effect of narrow-banded mainshock/aftershock seismic sequences on the response of structures built on very soft soil sites. Due to the scarce availability of recorded seismic sequences in accelerographic stations located in the lake-bed of Mexico City, artificial narrow-banded sequences were employed. In the first part of this study, a parametric investigation was carried out to identify the mainshock/aftershock ground motion features that have detrimental effects in the seismic performance of equivalent single-degree-of-freedom systems representative of framed-buildings that house standard and essential facilities. In the second part of this work, the seismic response of two (8- and 18-story) steel-moment resisting frames that house essential facilities is examined. It is concluded that buildings with fundamental periods of vibration longer than the dominant period of the mainshock can experience a significant increment in their inter-story drift demands due to the occurrence of an aftershock.
This paper describes a non-causal interpolative prediction method for B-picture encoding. Interpolative prediction uses correlations between neighboring pixels, including non-causal pixels, for high prediction performance, in contrast to the conventional prediction, using only the causal pixels. For the interpolative prediction, the optimal quantizing scheme has been investigated for preventing conding error power from expanding in the decoding process. In this paper, we extend the optimal quantization sceme to inter-frame prediction in video coding. Unlike H.264 scheme, our method uses non-causal frames adjacent to the prediction frame.

Three dimensional (3D) video is expected to be an important application for broadcast and IP streaming services. One of the main limitations for the transmission of 3D video over IP networks is network bandwidth mismatch due to the large size of 3D data, which causes fatal decoding errors and mosaic-like damage. This paper presents a novel selective frame discard method to address the problem. The main idea of the proposed method is the symmetrical discard of the two dimensional (2D) video frame and the depth map frame. Also, the frames to be discarded are selected after additional consideration of the playback deadline, the network bandwidth, and the inter-frame dependency relationship within a group of pictures (GOP). It enables the efficient utilization of the network bandwidth and high quality 3D IPTV service. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method enhances the media quality of 3D video streaming even in the case of bad network conditions.
Video stabilization is an important image enhancement widely used in surveillance system in order to improve recognition performance. Most previous methods calculate inter-frame homography to estimate global motion. These methods are relatively slow and suffer from significant depth variations or multiple moving object. In this paper, we propose a fast and practical approach for video stabilization that selects the most reliable key frame as a reference frame to a current frame. We use optical flow to estimate global motion within an adaptively selected region of interest in static camera environment. Optimal global motion is found by probabilistic voting in the space of optical flow. Experiments show that our method can perform real-time video stabilization validated by stabilized images and remarkable reduction of mean color difference between stabilized frames.
