  • In this paper, we describe a security robot system to control human's behavior in the security area. In order to achieve these goals, we present a method for representing, tracking and human blocking by laserscanner systems in security area, with application to pedestrian tracking in a crowd. When it detects walking human who is for the security area, robot calculates his velocity vector, plans own path to forestall and interrupts him who want to head restricted area and starts to move along the estimated trajectory. While moving the robot continues these processes for adapting change of situation. After arriving at an opposite position human's walking direction, the robot advises him not to be headed more and change his course. The experimental results of estimating and tracking of the human in the wrong direction with the mobile robot are presented.

  • The researches on the Internet based tole-operation have received increased attention for the past few years. In this paper, we implement the Internet based tele-operating system. In order to transmit robustly the surroundings and control information of the robot, we make a data as a packet type. Also in order to transmit a very large image data, we use PEG compressive algorithm. The central problem in the Internet based tele-operation is the data transmission latency or data-loss. For this specific problem, we introduce an autonomous mobile robot with a 2-layer fuzzy controller. Also, we implement the color detection system and the robot can perceive the object. We verify the efficacy of the 2-layer fuzzy controller by applying it to a robot that is equipped with various input sensors. Because the 2-layer fuzzy controller can control robustly the robot with various inputs and outputs and the cost of control is low, we hope it will be applied to various sectors.

  • Tracking and recognition of robots are required for the cooperation task of robots in various environments. In the paper, a tracking control system of moving robot using stereo image processing, code-book model and fuzzy controller is proposed. First, foreground and background images are separated by using code-book model method. A candidate region is selected based on the color information in the separated foreground image and real distance of the robot is estimated from matching process of depth image that is acquired through stereo image processing. The open and close processing of image are applied and labeling according to the size of mobile robot is used to recognize the moving robot effectively. A fuzzy tracking controller using distance information and mobile information by stereo image processing is designed for effective tracking according to the movement velocity of the target robot. The proposed fuzzy tracking control method is verified through tracking experiments of mobile robots with stereo camera.

  • An unmanned surveillance robot consists of a machine gun, a laser receiver, a thermal imager, a color CCD camera, and a laser illuminator. It has two axis control systems for elevation and azimuth. Because the current robot system is mounded at a fixed post to take care of surveillance tasks, it is necessary to modify such a surveillance robot to be installed on an UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle) system in order to watch blind areas. Thus, it is required to have a stabilization system to compensate the disturbance from the UGV. In this paper, a simulation based design scheme has been adopted to develop a mobile surveillance robot. The 3D CAD geometry model has first been produced by using Pro-Engineer. The required pan and tilt motor capacities have been analyzed using ADAMS inverse dynamics analysis. A target tracking and stabilization control algorithm of the mobile surveillance robot has been developed in order to compensate the motion of the vehicle which will experience the rough terrain. To test the performance of the stabilization control system of the robot, ADAMS/simulink co-simulations has been carried out.

  • An experimental research is a useful approach for realizing autonomous mobile robots to work in real environment. We are developing an autonomous mobile robot platform named "Yamabico" as a tool for experimental real world robotics research. The architecture of Yamabico is based on the concept of centralized decision making and functionally modularization. Yamabico robot has two level structure with behavior and function levels, and its hardware and software are functionally distributed for providing incremental development and good maintenancibility. We are using many Yamabico robots in our laboratory to realize the robust navigation technology for autonomous robots. The methodology for experimental and task-oriented approach of mobile robotics will be presented. And some experimental results of real world navigation in indoor and outdoor environment will be shown. be shown.

  • It has been integrated into several navigation systems. This paper shows that system recognizes difficult indoor roads and open area without any specific mark such as painted guide line or tape. In this method, Robot navigates with visual sensors, which uses visual information to navigate itself along the road. An Artificial Neural Network System was used to decide where to move. It is designed with USB web camera as visual sensor.

  • This paper reports an unscented Kalman filter approach for localization of a mobile robot in an indoor environment. The method proposes a new model of measurement uncertainty which adjusts the error covariance according to the measured distance. The method also uses non-zero off diagonal values in error covariance matrices of motion uncertainty and measurement uncertainty. The method is tested through experiments in an indoor environment of 100*40 m working space using a differential drive robot which uses Laser range finder as an exteroceptive sensor. The results compare the localization performance of the proposed method with the conventional method which doesn't use adaptive measurement uncertainty model. Also, the experiment verifies the improvement due to non-zero off diagonal elements in covariance matrices. This paper contributes to implementing and evaluating a practical UKF approach for mobile robot localization.

  • In this paper, we composed chaos mobile robot by embedding many type of chaos circuit including Arnold Equation and Chua's Equation and proposed method of evaluation of obstacles when it meets or approaches an obstacle while the mobile robot searches an any plane with chaos trajectory and method of concentrating search when it faces target and verified these results. For obstacles avoidance, we developed algorithm that evades an obstacles with chaos trajectory by assuming fixed obstacle, obstacles using VDP model, hidden obstacles using BVP model as obstacles and for searching an object, we developed algorithm of searching with a chaos trajectory by assuming BVP model as an object, verified the results and confirmed reasonability of them.

  • This paper represents an intelligent sensor controller of mobile robot for object recognition in an indoor hon environment. A range finder sensor module has been developed by using optic PSD (Position Sensitive Detector) sensor way at a low Vice. While PSD sensor is cost effective and light weighting, it has switching noise and white noise. To remove these noises, we propose a heuristic filter. For line-based map building. also we prorosed advanced Hough transformation and navigation algorithm. Some experiments were illustrated for the validity of the developed system.
