The Design of Target Tracking System Using FBFE based on VEGA (VEGA 기반 FBFE를 이용한 표적 추적 시스템 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose the design methodology of target tracking system using fuzzy basis function expansion (FBFE) based on virus evolutionary genetic algorithm(VEGA). In general, the objective of target tracking is to estimate the future trajectory of the target based on the past position of the target obtained from the sensor. In the conventional and mathematical nonlinear filtering method such as extended Kalman filter (EKF), the performance of the system may be deteriorated in highly nonlinear situation. To resolve these problems of nonlinear filtering technique, by appling artificial intelligent technique to the tracking control of moving targets, we combine the advantages of both traditional and intelligent control technique. In the proposed method, after composing training datum from the parameters of extended Kalman filter, by combining FBFE, which has the strong ability for the approximation, with VEGA, which prevent GA from converging prematurely in the case of lack of genetic diversity of population, and by identifying the parameters and rule numbers of fuzzy basis function simultaneously, we can reduce the tracking error of EKF. Finally, the proposed method is applied to three dimensional tracking problem, and the simulation results shows that the tracking performance is improved by the proposed method.

  • In this paper, an optimal design of hybrid magnetic levitation(Maglev) system using intelligent optimization algorithms is proposed. The proposed maglev system adopts hybrid suspension system with permanent-magnet(PM) and electro magnet(EM) to reduce the suspension power loss and the teaching-learning based optimization(TLBO) that can overcome the drawbacks of conventional intelligent optimization algorithm is used. To obtain the mathematical model of hybrid suspension system, the magnetic equivalent circuit including leakage fluxes are used. Also, design restrictions such as cross section areas of PM and EM, the maximum length of PM, magnetic force are considered to choose the optimal parameters by intelligent optimization algorithm. To meet desired suspension power and lower power loss, the multi object function is proposed. To verify the proposed object function and intelligent optimization algorithms, we analyze the performance using the mean value and standard error of 10 simulation results. The simulation results show that the proposed method is more effective than conventional optimization methods.

  • Most conventional systems of fire fighting control in a ship have been based on rule-based system in which expert knowledges are expressed with production rules. Renewing and adding of rules is needed continuously for the improvement of the system capability in an already build-up system and such adding and renewing procedures could hinder users from fluent utilization of a system. The author proposes an advanced fire fighting control intelligent system (A-FFIS) using rule-based and carte-based reasoning by clustering to implement conventional hybrid system (H-FFIS). Compared with H-FFIS, new approach with A-FFIS shows that the system proposed here improves fire detection rate and reduces fire detection time.

  • The most important thing in the container terminal is to handle the cargo effectively in a limited time. To achieve this objective, many strategies have been introduced and applied. If we consider the automated container terminal, it is necessary that the cargo handling equipment is equipped with more intelligent control systems. From the middle of the 1990s, an automated rail-mounted gantry crane (RMGC) and rubber-tired gantry crane (RTG) have been developed and widely used to handle containers in the yards. Recently, in these cranes, equipment like CCD cameras and sensors have been mounted to cope with the automated terminal environment. In this paper, we try to support the development of more intelligent automated cranes that make the cargo handling be performed effectively in the yards. For this plant, we ought to consider modeling, tracking control, anti-sway system design, skew motion suppressionand complicated motion control and suppressing problems. In this paper, the system modeling and a tracking control approach are discussed, based on a two-degree-of-freedom (2DOF) servo-system design. From the simulation results, the good control performance of the designed control system is evaluated.

A Study on Modeling of Pneumatic System for an IDC Device (IDC장치에 대한 공압시스템의 모델링에 관한 연구)

  • An intelligent deburring control (IDC) device is used to control the constant force for a deburring tool mounted on the end-effector of a robotic arm. This device maintains a constant contact force between the deburring tool and the workpiece in order to provide a good deburring performance. In this paper, we build a mathematical model in Matlab/Simulink to estimate the force control mechanism of the pneumatic system for the IDC device. The Simulink blocks are built for each separate part and are linked into an integrated simulation system. Such a model also relies on the effects of the flow rate through the valve, air compressibility in the cylinder, and time delay in the pressure valve. The results of the simulation are compared to a simple experiment in which convenient math modeling is performed. These results are then used to optimize the mechanical design and to develop a force control algorithm for the pneumatic cylinder.

  • This paper concerns the problem of simultaneous fault detection and disturbance reject control(SFDDRC) for a class of linear time-invariant system. In the framework of fault detection, residual generators are required to be robust to disturbances existing in the system. Different from most of the existing simultaneous fault and control(SFDC) methods, SFDDRC rejects the influences of disturbances on residual generators by disturbance observer-based control(DOBC). This not only effectively improves the accuracy of fault detection, but also solves the problem that most of the existing SFDC methods require that the disturbance must be bounded. Finally, a numerical example is given to verify the validity of the method.

Design of an Intelligent Streetlight System in USN

  • In this paper, we propose an intelligent streetlight system that has a complex sensor module of temperature, humidity, luminance and motion detection and controlled by the fuzzy logic based central monitoring system in order to get flexible and precise manipulation of the streetlight system in USN environment. The proposed streetlight system provides low power consumption and high efficiency by using sensed data from the complex sensor module, which were collected, processed, and analyzed by the fuzzy logic based central monitoring system. The performance of the proposed streetlight system is to be evaluated by a simulation study in terms of power savings and safety at the fields constructed as a test-bed under several suggested scenarios. Finally, we know that the proposed intelligent streetlight system can maximize the energy savings efficiently with the fuzzy logic based central monitoring system and selective remote dimming control by connecting it to the wireless ubiquitous sensor network (USN) using a Zigbee module.

  • The use electron-beam(E-beam) manufacturing system provides a means to alleviate optic exposure equipment's problems. We are developing an E-beam manufacturing system with scanning electron microscope(SEM) function. The E-beam manufacturing system consist of high voltage generator, beam blanker, condenser lenses, object lenses, stigmator and stage. The development of E-beam manufacturing system is used on the method of remaking SEM's structure. The functions of SEM are developed. It is important for the test of E-beam performance. In E-beam manufacturing system and SEM, beam focus is important function. In this paper, we propose intelligent remote control function for beam focus in E-beam manufacturing system. The function extends the user's function and gives convenience.

Robust Fuzzy Controller for Mitigating the Fluctuation of Wind Power Generator in Wind Farm (풍력발전단지의 출력변동저감을 위한 강인 퍼지 제어기 설계)

  • This paper proposes the implementation of robust fuzzy controller for designing intelligent wind farm and mitiagating the fluctuation of wind power generator. The existing researches are limited to individual wind turbine with variable speed so that it is necessary to study the multi-agent wind turbine power system. The scopes of these studies include from the arrangements of each power turbine to the control algorithms for the wind farm. For solving these problems, we introduce the composition of intelligent wind farm and use the T-S (Takagi-Sugeno) fuzzy model which is suitable for designing fuzzy controller. The control object in wind farm enables the minimizing the fluctuation of wind power generator. Simulation results for wind fram which is modelled as mathematically are demonstrated to visualize the feasibility of the proposed method.

  • This paper presents a new linear- matrix- inequality- basedintelligent digital redesign (LMI-based IDR) technique to match he states of the analog and the digital control systems at the intersampling instants as well as the sampling ones. The main features of the proposed technique are: 1) the multirate control is employed, and the control input is changed N times during one sampling period; 2) The proposed IDR technique is based on the compensated bilinear transformation.
