Estimation of Expressway O/D Matrices from TCS data by Using Video Survey Data for Vehicle Classification: Focused on Truck (차종구분 영상조사 자료를 활용한 TCS기반 고속도로 O/D 구축: 화물자동차 중심으로)

  • Truck demand analysis based on TCS data has limitation in that TCS data can not provide truck O/D data for each type of truck vehicle. This study conducted video survey for classifying truck vehicle types. By using TCS data and vehicle ratio by region/cities type, truck O/D data on expressway were estimated. It was found that average travel distances of small truck, medium truck and large truck were 52km/veh, 56km/veh and 97km/veh, respectively by analysing truck O/D data estimated in this study. The reliability analysis showed that check points where error rate is lower than 30% comprise of 87.3%. It is considered that estimated O/D data by truck vehicle types would be useful for the analysis of truck demand of expressway.

  • Road's accidents caused by Ice, snow, Wet of roads surface conditions and weather conditions situations that are constantly occurring. That is, driver's negligence and safe driving ability of individuals due to lack of awareness, and Road management main agent(the government and the public, etc.) due to road conditions, if there is insufficient information. So Related research needs is a trend that is required. In this study, gather Camera(Stereo camera)'s image data, and analysis polarization coefficients and wavelet transform. And unlike traditional single-dimensional classification algorithms as multi-dimensional analysis by using SVM classification techniques, develop an algorithm to determine road conditions. Four on the road conditions (dry, wet, snow, ice) recognition success rate for the detection and analysis of experiments.

  • This paper showed the possibilities of performance improvement of Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) decreasing classification error rates of EEG signals by applying Variance-Considered Machine (VCM) which proposed in our previous study. BCI means controlling system such as computer by brain signals. There are many factors which affect performances of BCI. In this paper, we used suggested algorithm as a classification algorithm, the most important factor of the system, and showed the increased correct rates. For the experiments, we used data which are measured during imaginary movements of left hand and foot. The results indicated that superiority of VCM by comparing error rates of the VCM and SVM. We had shown excellence of VCM with theoretical results and simulation results. In this study, superiority of VCM is demonstrated by error rates of real data.

  • This paper presents a fuzzy learning rule which is the fuzzified version of LVQ(Learning Vector Quantization). This fuzzy learning rule 3 uses fuzzy learning rates. instead of the traditional learning rates. LVQ uses the same learning rate regardless of correctness of classification. But, the new fuzzy learning rule uses the different learning rates depending on whether classification is correct or not. The new fuzzy learning rule is integrated into the improved IAFC(Integrated Adaptive Fuzzy Clustering) neural network. The improved IAFC neural network is both stable and plastic. The iris data set is used to compare the performance of the supervised IAFC neural network 3 with the performance of backprogation neural network. The results show that the supervised IAFC neural network 3 is better than backpropagation neural network.

Intelligent Hybrid Fusion Algorithm with Vision Patterns for Generation of Precise Digital Road Maps in Self-driving Vehicles

  • Due to the significant increase in the use of autonomous car technology, it is essential to integrate this technology with high-precision digital map data containing more precise and accurate roadway information, as compared to existing conventional map resources, to ensure the safety of self-driving operations. While existing map technologies may assist vehicles in identifying their locations via Global Positioning System, it is however difficult to update the environmental changes of roadways in these maps. Roadway vision algorithms can be useful for building autonomous vehicles that can avoid accidents and detect real-time location changes. We incorporate a hybrid architectural design that combines unsupervised classification of vision data with supervised joint fusion classification to achieve a better noise-resistant algorithm. We identify, via a deep learning approach, an intelligent hybrid fusion algorithm for fusing multimodal vision feature data for roadway classifications and characterize its improvement in accuracy over unsupervised identifications using image processing and supervised vision classifiers. We analyzed over 93,000 vision frame data collected from a test vehicle in real roadways. The performance indicators of the proposed hybrid fusion algorithm are successfully evaluated for the generation of roadway digital maps for autonomous vehicles, with a recall of 0.94, precision of 0.96, and accuracy of 0.92.

  • Feature extraction is important to classify data with large dimension such as image data. The representative feature extraction methods lot feature extraction ate PCA, ICA, LDA and MLP, etc. These algorithms can be classified in two groups: unsupervised algorithms such as PCA, LDA, and supervised algorithms such as LDA, MLP. Among these two groups, supervised algorithms are more suitable to extract the features for classification because of the class information of input data. In this paper we suggest a new feature extraction algorithm PCA-FX which uses class information with PCA to extract ieatures for classification. We test our algorithm using Yale face database and compare the performance of proposed algorithm with those of other algorithms.

Fingerprint classification using the clustering of the orientation of the ridges (융선의 방향성분 군집화를 통한 효과적인 지문분류기법)

  • The cores and deltas of fingerprints designate the parts where the flow of the ridges change radically. Observations on the change of the orientation of the ridges around the cores and deltas enable us to guess the location of the cores and deltas. According]y clustering the orientation flowing to the same direction after doing research on the orientation of the ridges on the whole makes us see that the cores and deltas are shaping around the boundaries of the clustering area. It is also observed that The patterns of clustering of the orientation of the ridges classified as Arch, Tented Arch, Left loop, Right Loop and Whorl have its own characteristics respectively. In this paper the method of classifying the fingerprints effectively is proposed and proved its effectiveness by using the clustering of the orientation of the ridges, finding the cores of the fingerprints which don't secure the deltas.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new pattern classifier which is based on the learning algorithm of Extreme Learning Machine the sort of artificial neural networks and fuzzy set theory which is well known as being robust to noise. The learning algorithm used in Extreme Learning Machine is faster than the conventional artificial neural networks. The key advantage of Extreme Learning Machine is the generalization ability for regression problem and classification problem. In order to evaluate the classification ability of the proposed pattern classifier, we make experiments with several machine learning data sets.

Car License Plate Extraction Based on Detection of Numeral Regions (숫자 영역 탐색에 기반한 자동차 번호판 추출)

  • In this paper we propose an algorithm to extract the license plate regions from Korean car images. The idea of this paper is that we first find the four digits in the input car image and then segment the plate region using the digit information. Out method has advantage of segmenting simultaneously the plate regions and four digits regions. The first step finds and groups the connected components with proper sizes as candidate digits. The second step applies an serial alignment condition to find out probable 4-digits. In the third step, we recognize the candidate digits and assign the confidence values to each of them. The final step extracts the license plate region which has the highest confidence value. We used the Perfect Metrics classification algorithm to estimate the confidence. In our experiment, we got 97.23% and 95.45% correct detection rates, 0.09% and 0.11% false detection rates for 4,600 daytime and 264 nighttime images, respectively.

Automatic Response and Conceptual Browsing of Internet FAQs Using Self-Organizing Maps (자기구성 지도를 이용한 인터넷 FAQ의 자동응답 및 개념적 브라우징)

  • Though many services offer useful information on internet, computer users are not so familiar with such services that they need an assistant system to use the services easily In the case of web sites, for example, the operators answer the users e-mail questions, but the increasing number of users makes it hard to answer the questions efficiently. In this paper, we propose an assistant system which responds to the users questions automatically and helps them browse the Hanmail Net FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) conceptually. This system uses two-level self-organizing map (SOM): the keyword clustering SOM and document classification SOM. The keyword clustering SOM reduces a variable length question to a normalized vector and the document classification SOM classifies the question into an answer class. Experiments on the 2,206 e-mail question data collected for a month from the Hanmail net show that this system is able to find the correct answers with the recognition rate of 95% and also the browsing based on the map is conceptual and efficient.
