  • Contact resistance variation which may be called sliding noise in carbon film variable resistors whose resistance elements consists of linear resistivity distribution were measured with several kinds of sliders and were analyzed to reduce the contact resistance variation. About the measuring method, the standard method of measuring contact resistance variation specified by the variable Resistance Components Institute was adupted. By analyzing the experimental results, it has been shown that the primary cause of contact resistance variation is due to current constriction and small discharge sparks in the resistance film in the area close to the slide contact. Moreover, it has been found that the sliding noise would be reduced by increasing the number of contact points, sliding speed, and pressure, and by using some kinds of insulation oil on the contacting surface. High contact resistance variation is likely to occur in the area of high resistance variation in a logrithmic resistance taper.

  • Monolayers of lipids on a water surface have attracted much interest as models of biological membranes, but also as precursors of multilayer systems promising many technical applications. Until now, many methodologies have been developed in order to gain a better understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of the monolayers. Maxwell displacement current (MDC) measurement has been employed to study the dielectric property of Langmuir-films. MDC flowing across monolayers is analyzed using a rod-like molecular model. A linear relationship between the monolayer compression speed and the molecular area Am. Compression speed was about 30, 40, 50mm/min. Langmuir-Blodgett(LB)layers of Arachidic acid deposited by LB method were deposited onto slide glass as Y-type film. The structure of manufactured device is Au/Arachidic acid/Al, the number of accumulated layers are 9~21. Also, we then examined of the Metal-Insulator-Metal(MIM) device by means of I-V. The I-V characteristics of the device are measured from -3 to +3[V]. The insulation property of a thin film is better as the distance between electrodes is larger.

  • In this experiment, A1$_2$O$_3$thick films were prepared by electrophoretic method using A1$_2$O$_3$ fine powder of which compositions were FA-5-500 and FA-5-900. As a result of measurement for A1$_2$O$_3$ thick film characteristics due to applied voltage, deposition time and additives condition, the result of deposited films exhibited superior than others when the applied voltage and deposition time were 65 volts and 2 seconds in case of using modified suspension medium added additives. When taken a heat treatment and sintered A1$_2$O$_3$ deposition film made by electrophoresis with A1$_2$O$_3$ suspension medium at 1$700^{\circ}C$ for 5 minutes in hydrogen environment, it could be fabricated in good uniformity and electric characteristics as the A1$_2$O$_3$ insulating thick films.

  • We give pressure stimulation into organic thin films and then manufacture a device under the accumulation condition that the state surface pressure is 30 [mN/m]. LB layers of Arac. acid deposited by LB method were deposited onto y-type silicon wafer as y-type film. In processing of a device manufacture. we can see the process is good from the change of a surface pressure for organic thin films and transfer ratio of area per molecule. The structure of manufactured device is Au/arachidic acid/Al. the number of accumulated layers are 9$\sim$21. Also. we then examined of the MIM device by means of I-V. The I-V characteristic of the device is measured from -3 to +3[V]. The insulation property of a thin film is better as the distance between electrodes is larger.

  • Polyethylene is widely used as the insulator for power cable. To investigate the conduction mechanism for power cable insulation under ac high field, it is very important to acquire the dissipation current under actual running field. Recently, we have developed the unique system, which make possible to observe the nonlinear dissipation current waveform. In this system, to observe the nonlinear properties with high accuracy, capacitive current component is canceled by using inverse capacitive current signal instead of using the bridge circuit for canceling it. As the results of these estimations, it was found that the dissipation current will depend on not only the instantaneous value of electric field but also the time differential of applied electric field due to taking a balance between applied field and internal field. Furthermore, two large peaks of dissipation current for each half cycle were observed under certain condition. In this paper, to clarify the reason why it shows two peaks for each half cycle, the film thickness dependences of dissipation current waveforms were observed by using the three different thickness LDPE films.

  • To get well matured farm yard manure from ricestraw as quickly as possible during winter season, straw piles wrapped with polyethylene film and/or straw thatch were stored in the vinyl house or open air. Their maturities and changes of temperature in heap were investigated from the beginning of December 1983 to March of next year. Heat increment in vinyl house was high $2-5^{\circ}C$ than at open air at the lowest temperature but it didn't rise over the freezing point. However, the highest temperature was arisen over than $20^{\circ}C$ averagely at the vinylhouse compared to those of open air during three months. Temperature in piles of straw manure was reached to about $70^{\circ}C$ in maximum and rose again very rapidly after repiling in the vinyl house, whereas increment of temperature after repiling was delayed and took long times to reach the maximum temperature at open air. Wrapping with P.E. film also affected the insulation of decomposing heat of straw pile and promoted the repeat of piling even at open air. By these results, ricestraw would be decomposed rapidly by insulation with P.E. film in the vinyl house and could be reached to matured compost for application to field on next spring season. P.E. film covered for vinyl house was endured until May of next year without tear by weathering.

  • In this paper, the temperature history and the strength development of concrete corresponded to various bubble sheets layer and curing temperature. Based on the results, In case of the test temperature of -5℃, concrete subject in the exposure condition, result in a frost damage at initial stage by a fall of below zero temperature. In case of the combination of PE film and non woven fabric was after 36 hour, and combination of bubble sheet over double, a tremendous insulating effect of bubble sheet over double is confirmed due to the temperature of concrete fall of below zero temperature after 60 hours. Meanwhile, regarding the -15℃ of temperature, special measure for insulation curing is necessary to secure stability against early frost damage because frost damage was not affected by the lapping thickness of bubble sheet subjected to severe cold weather condition.

  • In order to improve the high temperature oxidation resistance and lifespan of mat type porous carbon insulation, SiC was coated on carbon insulation by solution coating using polycarbosilane solution, curing in an oxidizing atmosphere at $200^{\circ}C$, and pyrolysis at temperatures up to $1200^{\circ}C$. The SiOC phase formed during the pyrolysis process was converted into SiC crystals as the heat treatment temperature increased, and a SiC coating with a thickness of 10-15 nm was formed at $1600^{\circ}C$. The SiC coated specimen showed a weight reduction of 8.6 % when it was kept in an atmospheric environment of $700^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. On the other hand, the thermal conductivity was 0.17 W/mK, and no difference between states before and after coating was observed at all.

  • In this study, three different types of experimental models of BIPV curtain wall units with GIGS modules were built, and their thermal and electrical performances were analyzed. The experimental results showed that the temperature of the rear side of the GIGS module with the application of an insulation in the curtain wall spandrels was higher than a GIGS module standalone by $22^{\circ}C$, which results in a reduction in the power generation of the former by 8 %. On the other hand, when ventilation was applied to the model to improve the power generation performance, the module temperature was observed to be $142^{\circ}C$ lower compared to the enclosed type, and the power generation performance improved by 5 %. It confirmed that the temperature increase in the rear side of the GIGS module with insulation layer reduced the electrical performance of the module. Based on this, it is claimed that providing sufficient ventilation at the GIGS applied spandrels contribute to improve the power generation of the GIGS module.

  • The 19 mm-sized aggregate was produced by melting vinyl waste (waste polyethylene film) generated from vinyl greenhouses in rural areas. It was mixed with As'cone at various weight ratios, and then insulation effect test, tension test after repeated freezing and thawing, ice pull-out strength test and field density test were conducted for the mixtures. These results demonstrated that as the mixing ratio of polyethylene aggregate increased, the insulation effect increased, due to the many pore spaces that existed in the polyethylene aggregate. After repeatedly freezing and thawing As'cone, the tensile strength significantly increased at 2.5% of the polyethylene aggregate content rather than 0% of polyethylene aggregate content but it also slightly decreased at 5% and 10% of polyethylene aggregate content in comparison to 2.5% of its polyethylene aggregate content. As'cone added with polyethylene aggregate by 2.5% resulted in lower ice pull-out strength than that of normal As'cone. As a result of the porosity test for the samples taken at the site, porosity of the As'cone, which added polyethylene aggregate, was smaller than that of the general As'cone.
