The rapid development of small-scale (1-10 MJ) Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage Systems (SMES) can be explained by real perspective of practical implementation of these devices in electro power nets. However the serious problem of all high mechanically stressed superconducting coils-problem of training and degradation (decreasing) of operating current still exists. Moreover for SMES systems this problems is more dangerous because of pulsed origin of mechanical stresses-one of the major sources of local heat disturbances in superconducting coils. We investigated acoustic emission (AE) phenomenon on model and 0.5 MJ SMES coils taking into account close correlation of AE and local heat disturbances. Two-coils 0.5 MJ SMES system was developed, manufactured and tested at Russian Research Center in the frames of cooperation with Korean Electrical Engineering Company (KEPCO) [1]. The two-coil SMES operates with the stored energy transmitted between coils in the course of a single cycle with 2 seconds energy transfer time. Maximum operating current 1.55 kA corresponds to 0.5 MF in each coil. The Nb-Ti-based conductor was designed and used for SMES manufacturing. It represents transposed cable made of Nb-Ti strands in copper matrix, several cooper strands and several stainless steel strands. The coils are wound onto fiberglass cylindrical bobbins. To make AE event information more useful a real time instrumentation system was used. Two main measured and computer processed AE parameters were considered: the energy of AE events (E) and the accumulated energy of AE events (E ). Influence of current value in 0.5 MJ coils on E and E was studied. The sensors were installed onto the bobbin and the external surface of magnets. Three levels of initial current were examined: 600A, 1000A, 2450 A. An extraordinary strong dependence of the current level on E and E was observed. The specific features of AE from model coils, operated in sinusoidal vibration current changing mode were investigated. Three current frequency modes were examined: 0.012 Hz, 0.03 Hz and 0.12 Hz. In all modes maximum amplitude 1200 A was realized.

Flows of water in the environment (e.g. in a river or estuary) generally occur in complex conditions. This complexity can hinder a general understanding of flows and their related sedimentary processes, such as erosion and deposition. To gain insight in simplified, controlled conditions, hydraulic flumes are a popular type of laboratory research equipment. Linear flumes use pumps to recirculation water. This isn't appropriate for the investigation of cohesive sediments as pumps can break fragile cohesive sediment flocs. To overcome this limitation, the rotating annular flume (RAF) was developed. While not having pumps, a side-effect is that unwanted secondary circulations can occur. To counteract this, the top and bottom lid rotate in opposite directions. Furthermore, a larger flume is considered better as it has less curvature and secondary circulation. While only a few RAFs exist, they are important for theoretical research which often underlies numerical models. Many of the first-generation of RAFs have come into disrepair. As new measurement techniques and models become available, there is still a need to research cohesive sediment erosion and deposition in facilities such as a RAF. New RAFs also can have the advantage of being automatic instead of manually operated, thus improving data quality. To further advance our understanding of cohesive sediment erosion and deposition processes, a large, automatic RAF (1.72 m radius, 0.495 m channel depth, 0.275 m channel width) has been constructed at the Hydraulic Laboratory at Chungnam National University (CNU), Korea. The RAF has the ability to simulate both unidirectional (river) and bidirectional (tide) flows with supporting instrumentation for measuring turbulence, bed shear stress, suspended sediment concentraiton, floc size, bed level, and bed density. Here we present the current status and future prospect of the CNU RAF. In the future, calibration of the rotation rate with bed shear stress and experiments with unidirectional and bidirectional flow using cohesive kaolinite are expected. Preliminary results indicate that the CNU RAF is a valuable tool for fundamental cohesive sediment transport research.
The simulator models for 500MW fossil power plant have been developed, and interconnected with the turbine control system to test and validate the digital instrumentation & control (I&C) systems before they are implemented in operating power plants. When the performance of a selected digital I&C system is tested, the corresponding simulator model is replaced by the plant digital I&C systems which is considered as a non-tunable system. The input/out variables of simulator models and control systems were mapped using the LabView in interface systems. This paper describes the interconnection method between the simulator model and the digital I&C system, and summarizes the validation test results performed at the condition of steady-state operation, normal evolution, and malfunction. The integrated validation method of digital I&C systems using the simulator models showed that the simulator can be used as a test bed for the implementation of digital I&C systems in power plants.
In the past, most of battle occurred in flatland and simple military force size gave a big influence in combat result. However, after the World War I, most of battles took place at the various terrain features such as forest, downtown, jungle and many others. Therefore, terrain factor exerts big influence on battle with weapon system in the ground warfare. However, effect of terrain has been explained only by quantitative manner in the battle. Furthermore, combat simulation and modeling applied a method that lower the combat capability of battle factors. In this paper, we present instrumentation that evaluate impact of terrain using fractal dimension. We determine the fractal dimension value by the "box counting dDimension" and density to calculate impact of terrain. Furthermore, we analyzed correlation with fractal dimension and density for battle result that obtained from the EINSTein model which is an agent-based simulation. We compare with 'Stalingrad battle' result out of battle example and analyzed. This study presented a method combat effectiveness that effect of terrain calculate quantitatively using fractal dimension.
Purpose: Various methods have been proposed to achieve the nearly complete decontamination of the surface of implants affected by peri-implantitis. We investigated the in vitro debridement efficiency of multiple decontamination methods (Gracey curettes [GC], glycine air-polishing [G-Air], erythritol air-polishing [E-Air] and titanium brushes [TiB]) using a novel spectrophotometric ink-model in 3 different bone defect settings (30°, 60°, and 90°). Methods: Forty-five dental implants were stained with indelible ink and mounted in resin models, which simulated standardised peri-implantitis defects with different bone defect angulations (30°, 60°, and 90°). After each run of instrumentation, the implants were removed from the resin model, and the ink was dissolved in ethanol (97%). A spectrophotometric analysis was performed to detect colour remnants in order to measure the cumulative uncleaned surface area of the implants. Scanning electron microscopy images were taken to assess micromorphological surface changes. Results: Generally, the 60° bone defects were the easiest to debride, and the 30° defects were the most difficult (ink absorption peak: 0.26±0.04 for 60° defects; 0.32±0.06 for 30° defects; 0.27±0.04 for 90° defects). The most effective debridement method was TiB, independently of the bone defect type (TiB vs. GC: P<0.0001; TiB vs. G-Air: P=0.0017; TiB vs. GE-Air: P=0.0007). GE-Air appeared to be the least efficient method for biofilm debridement. Conclusions: T-brushes seem to be a promising decontamination method compared to the other techniques, whereas G-Air was less aggressive on the implant surface. The use of a spectrophotometric model was shown to be a novel but promising assessment method for in vitro ink studies.

Instrumentation device to the amount of water used by the user is a water meter by measuring management stability is necessary. But with the onset of winter to meter water was ice inside the phase change and about 9 % and increase the volume of the meter is damaged. The existing protection bleed water meter freeze protection technology into three great bootong, supplying the heat insulation inside the external protection, water metering for water meter in the freeze protection will be divided into installing the device. Not see how far the structure for the commercialization of new technology-based products and aims to develop technologies that do not require an external power supply. Thus, freeze more vulnerable by internal pressure of the interpretation applied to a water meter in temperatures below zero internal pressure to confirm the area of preventing damage and freeze protection that can reduce the effect is superior to develop a water meter.

The overuse of pesticides in agricultural sectors exposes people to food contamination. Pesticides are toxic to humans and can have both acute and chronic health effects. To protect food consumers from the adverse effects of pesticides, a rapid monitoring system of the residues is in dire need. Molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) on a screen-printed electrode (SPE) is a leading and promising electrochemical sensing approach for the detection of several residues including pesticides. Despite the huge development in analytical instrumentation developed for contaminant detection in recent years such as HPLC and GC/MS, these conventional techniques are time-consuming and labor-intensive. Additionally, the imprinted SPE detection system offers a simple portable setup where all electrodes are integrated into a single strip, and a more affordable approach compared to MIP attached to traditional rod electrodes. Recently, numerous reviews have been published on the production and sensing applications of MIPs however, the research field lacks reviews on the use of MIPs on electrochemical sensors utilizing the SPE technology. This paper presents a distinguished overview of the MIP technique used on bare and modified SPEs for the detection of pesticides from four recent publications which are malathion, chlorpyrifos, paraoxon and cyhexatin. Different molecular imprint routes were used to prepare these biomimetic sensors including solution polymerization, thermal polymerization, and electropolymerization. The unique characteristics of each MIP-modified SPE are discussed and the comparison among the findings of the papers is critically reviewed.
This paper analyzed the effects related to the difference of the geometrical shape of the ground excavation by comparing the displacements of the earth retaining wall of the strut resulting from the change of the excavation breadth B and the excavation length L, adopting the three dimensional FDM analysis. It appeared that the displacement of the earth retaining wall of the strut increases in accordance with the increase of L/B and it decreases as it becomes nearer from the center to the comer where the temporary structural system forms, and the wale member is closured because of the effects of the confining effect by the closure of the earth retaining wall and the wale member. This paper proposed a formula in which the results of three dimensional FDM analysis which considers the shape of the excavation plane can be obtained from those of two dimentional FDM analysis which does not consider the shape of the excavation plane. And the results of the formula were compared with those of the site instrumentation analysis.
As the number of CFRD constructions increases, the necessity of an accurate assessment on its behavior also has been increasing. The performance of concrete faced rockfill dam (CFRD) under different water levels is a great concern of dam engineers and designers in the world. However, domestic research on CFRD design and construction has not been performed sufficiently. This study deals with three centrifuge model tests, mainly investigates quantitatively the deformation of the concrete faced slabs and settlements on the crest with different face slab stiffness. The prototype of a centrifugal model dam is half size of domestic CFRD dam. Detailed material preparation, model design, model set-up, model instrumentation and testing procedures are presented. In order to simulate the prototype concrete faced slab, three kinds of thin fiberglass plates with different thickness were adopted in three model tests. Finally, the centrifuge test results were compared with field measurements of domestic dams, which showed that the centrifuge tests were performed successfully.

A field instrumentation for a recycled waste concrete geobag wall was performed to investigate the performance of the geobag wall, and uniaxial compression tests for a recycled waste concrete geobag were executed in laboratory. The strength of a recycled waste concrete geobag, the lateral earth pressure of a geobag wall, the horizontal deflection of a geobag wall, and the deformation of a backfill in geobag wall are mainly evaluated in this study. Based on the results of analysis on the measurements, it was found that the geobag wall displacement was within the recommendation for mechanically stabilized earth walls. It was also found that the use of a recycled waste concrete in geobag wall provides economical benefit, construction easiness, and good performance.
