To this end, a design thinking-based program was developed according to the instructional systems design (ISD) model consisting of learning content analysis, class activity design, evaluation tool development, implementation, evaluation and revision. After applying to the target (88 college students), competencies in creative problem-solving, collaboration, and communication were tested to verify quantitative effectiveness and the collected data was analyzed by t-test. In order to verify the qualitative effectiveness, the reflective logs submitted by each group as a final project report were analyzed. The results of the t-test conducted to verify the change in students' means in the pre-post competency test, showed that there were statistically significant increase in creative problem solving skill (t=-4.955, p<.01), collaboration skill (t=-3.179, p<.01), and communication skills(t=- 4.293, p<.01). And the design thinking-based program enabled students to have optimal learning experiences. Especially, learners in the program positively appreciated the experience of sharing various ideas with other members, strengthening cognitive flexibility, and acquiring performance.
This study was to analysis perception about Teaching & Learning Support System of the school of Rural Areas in Korea. In order to accomplish the study purpose, the study conducted a research through Web Survey method and examined their recognition. Major findings of this study were as follows: First, Student was satisfied with TLSS of the school of Rural Areas in Korea. Students would like to 'using e-learning with Electronic board and Tablet PC' among program contents. But the system' utilization was low. However, 90% of the students wanted that teacher usually using the FASTEL. Second, Teacher satisfaction was lower compared to the students is relatively. Teachers prefer 'various after school program' to 'using e-learning with Electronic board and Tablet PC'. However, learning effective of using FASTEL system was a 73.8% of teachers are effective is aware and had. Third, 35% Students recognized that are using the pastel system, frequently, On the other hand, the teachers are 60% and to recognize that there was. The reason doesn't the system to good use is slow wireless. Still, e-learning classroom infrastructure for satisfaction was high. Fourth, Teachers recognized students and the pastel system interaction than other e-learning system high. FASTEL System used in the most uncomfortable things on e-learning classroom Wireless Internet phenomena and lost content lacking, in order, I was told. The purpose of this study was to analyze the change of secondary earth science teachers' knowledge about the currents of the East Sea through drawing of a schematic map of oceanic currents. For this purpose, thirty two earth science teachers participated in the six-hour long training of learning and practice related to ocean current schematic map. The teacher participants performed drawing of the ocean current schematic map of the East Sea in three different phases, i.e.; pre-, post-, and delayed-post phase. In addition, all the maps conducted by participants were converted to digitalized image data. Detailed analysis were performed to investigate participating teachers' knowledge about the currents of the East Sea. Findings are as follows: First, the teacher participants have background knowledge about the ocean current map, but it reveals an incorrect knowledge about some concepts. Second, after teacher training, teachers' knowledge increased about the East Sea's currents, while a decrease was found in the differences between individual teachers' knowledge. This pattern was more evident in the delayed-post phase of drawing than in the post-phase occurred immediately after training. Third, the teacher participants were strongly aware of the need to improve the ocean current schematic map of the East Sea in science textbook in terms of scientific knowledge. In addition, they showed a high level of satisfaction about teacher training because they perceived that it was meaningful in various aspects; recognizing the importance of content knowledge and conjunction with instructional strategies, the needs of secondary science curriculum, and recognition of the nature of scientific knowledge. The results imply that teachers' subject matter knowledge plays a significant role to make science teaching effective.

This study was conducted to develop a plan for a large-scale implementation of the Girl Friendly Science Program based on the results of analysis and investigation of its current pilot implementation, Girl Friendly Science Program materials, which was first developed in 1999 with the support from Ministry of Gender Equality, consist of 1) five theme-based units that are specifically targeted individual students' unique ability, aptitude, and career choice, and 2) differentiated learning materials for 7th through 10th grade female students. All the materials are available at the homepage (http://tes.or.kr/gfsp.cgi) of 'Teachers for Exciting Science(the organization of science teachers in Seoul area)'. Since the materials are well organized by topic and grade level and presented in both Korean word process document and html format, anyone can easily access to the materials for their own instructional use. Ever since its launch the number of visitors to the homepage has been constantly increasing. The evaluation results of the current pilot implementation of the materials that targeted individual students' ability and aptitude showed that it scored high in terms of its alignment to the original purpose, content, level, and effectiveness to implement in classrooms. However, its evaluation scores were low in terms of the convenience for teachers to guide the materials, and its organization and operation. The results also showed a significant change in students' perception of science, and students' positive experiences of science through various interdisciplinary activities. On the other hand, the evaluation of students' experiences with the materials showed that students' assessment about an activity was largely depending on a success or failure of their experiences. Overall, students' evaluation of activities scores were low for simple activities such as cutting off or pasting papers. According to students' achievement test results, differences between pre and post test scores in the Affective Domain was statistically significant (p<0.05), but not in Inquiry Domain. Based on teachers observations, numerous schools where have run this program reported that students' abilities to cooperate, discuss, observe and reason with evidences were improved. In order to implement this program in a larger scale, it is critical to have a strong support of teachers and induce them to change their teaching strategy through building a community of teachers and developing ongoing teacher professional development programs. Finally, there still remain strong needs to develop more programs, and actively discover and train more domestic woman scientists and engineers and collaborate with them to develop more educational materials for girls in all ages.
The purpose of this study is to analyze and evaluate the Cyber Home Learning contents of Earth science area in the basic course of the $10^{th}$ grade. For this purpose, we applied the 'Cyber Home Study Content Quality Control Tool' presented in Elementary Secondary Education e-Learning Quality Management Guidelines (Ver.2.0)' of Korea Education & Research Information Service(2008). The results of Cyber home learning contents analysis are as follow: First, it was presented that the study guide introduced the contents which should be studied for one class, properly. And it was not analyzed that the diagnosis assesment was not completed in the initiative study; Second, it was possible to study choosing the contents fitting the learner's level of learning in the main study, it was comprised of about 10 minutes. Third, it was performed without feedback for incorrect answers in the learning assessment, just the number of wrong questions. And the learning arrangement present the important contents learned in that class, summarizing and arranging again. The results of evaluating the contents in Cyber Home Learning are as follows: First, in evaluation section of instructional design, many text materials which were so difficult for learners to read were explained, being provided. Besides, the systematic structures leaves much to be desired, in view of learners' learning experience, contents, and environment. And in evaluation section of learning contents, the error of contents caused the learning contents not to appear, the amount of learning in each section was found too much. Second, in evaluation section of the strategy for Teaching and Learning, when we mention the strategy of Self Directed Learning, the environment to make learners search for information free and self-study possible was not possessed well. And in evaluation section of interaction, it was found that a simple click caused the learning to go on. Third, in evaluation section of evaluating, it was evaluated that there was wanting in consistency in learning aims, contents, evaluation contents.

In this research, two careers connectable with the contents of the curriculum of fifth to sixth grade elementary school students were selected among other promising future careers in biotechnology and medical engineering fields. 'Design-based promising future career STEAM program' was developed and its validity and effectiveness were verified. Reflecting recent issues, and complying with the STEAM standard (frame) instructional materials were developed through group deliberations for nine months, based on the achievement standards through an analysis of subject curriculum revised in 2009. This was prepared so that students are able to experience biotechnology and medical engineering related careers in a simulational form emphasized with creative design to make them prefer natural sciences and engineering careers and draw their interests and recognition of the relevant careers under the two disciplines. As a result of such application to STEAM Leader School students at the verification stage of the program, the contents and level of the program were verified suitable, receiving favorable reviews. And as a result of applying the developed program on other elementary school students, it was discovered that significant improvements were found in their career consciousness. Through this research, it was suggested that there is a need for a simplification of the curriculum content standards, a provision of 'standard for integration,' development of teachers' ability in reconstituting or organizing the STEAM and proceeding classes, continuous long-term support to see the effects of a policy or a program, and a reinforcement of career education integrated in the curriculum.

The purpose of this study is to analyze differences in the teaching practices of biology teachers according to their awareness of the importance of evolution. For this purpose, two teachers who experienced study of evolution and recognized its importance, along with two teachers with no experience in evolution education in the comparison group, were included in the sample. To observe teaching practices, two classes each on biological evolution and non-evolution were selected, recorded and transcribed. The content analyzed included the teachers' view on evolution education and teachers' evolution concepts reflected in teaching practice. As a result, the level of understanding of the teachers' evolution concept was unrelated to teachers' awareness of the importance of evolution. Instead, each teacher would not feel the need for religious beliefs or awareness of the importance of evolution to have a negative impact on the awareness of the importance of evolution. Inexperienced teachers tend to reject the retraining opportunities to recognize the importance of evolution. In addition, inexperienced teachers were only superficially aware of the evaluation and improvement of evolution presented in textbooks and curricula. In actual teaching practice analysis, inexperienced teachers' utilizing ratio of the evolution key concept was higher than that of experienced teachers. Only experienced teachers were aware of the misconceptions presented in their execution and described the causes that appear in these misconceptions. Teachers who recognized the importance of evolution were widely using the key concepts of evolution, as well as more practical in preventing the misconceptions related to evolution forms. It indicates that biology teachers who do not realize the importance of evolution in biology education need to experience explicit and practical education programs as well as instructional materials on evolution.

This study examined the organization and operation of home economics curriculum of specialized middle school in the form of regular school among alternative schools and analyzed the perceptions of teachers and students about home economics class. Interviews were conducted with teachers of 6 specialized schools in order to determine the operations and teachers' perceptions of home economics education. Students' perceptions for home economics class were gathered through surveys with students from the 3 (of the original 6) schools that authorized the questionnaire survey. The final analysis utilized 205 student responses. Survey data were analyzed using the SPSS program. The results of the research were as follows: First, home economics education within specialized middle schools was mostly conducted according to the form of the technology-home economics curriculum, which is the national common basic curriculum. Compared to the 7th national curriculum, the class of technology-home economics curriculum in 4 schools occurred 1 hour less each week. Each school incorporated various specialized curricula related to home economics. Second, as for the operation of home economics education in specialized schools, most home economics classes were conducted by teachers who had majored (or minored) in home economics. Moreover, all but 1 school, which used self-made materials, used the national textbook and dealt with the entire content of the textbook. For teaching-learning methods and instructional media, various means were utilized. For evaluation methods, most schools based grades on paper-and-pencil tests(50-60%) and performance tests(40-50%). Third, among teachers' perceptions of home economics education, the meaning of home economics education was focused on practical help and the pursuit of home happiness; the purpose was to realize the happiness of students and their homes by applying these to actual living, and increase students' ability to see the world. In regards to difficulties in educational operations, most pointed out poor conditions of practice rooms. As for differences from general schools, most teachers mentioned the active communication with students. Fourth, through the home economics class, it was found that students perceived the goal of technology-home economics curricula as lower than average. Among students' perceptions about home economics class, most were negative. Perceptions about goal of technology-home economics curricula and home economics class also showed meaningful differences according to each school. Students of the school, which had more home economics class hours and specialized curricula related to home economics, perceived more positively. Also, students who were more satisfied with school and learned from a teacher who majored in home economics tended to perceive home economics class more positively.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of science classes using smart devices that combine augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) on the scientific attitude of middle school gifted students. In addition, it is intended to find out the perception of science classes using these smart devices. In addition to actual experiments, a science class program that allows students to experience science experiments virtually using AR and VR was applied to 15 middle school gifted students. Before and after the application of the program, the questionnaire is to investigate the interest in scientific classes, the attitude toward science exploration, and the professional interest in science, and the recognition of classes that combine AR and VR. In addition, through in-depth interviews, the perceptions of gifted students was accurately investigated. As a result of this study, the content of science classes and instructors showed high class satisfaction, but the smart devices and applications used during the science classes showed lower class satisfaction than others. As a result of comparing and analyzing the pre-post of gifted students, interest in science class, attitude toward science inquiry, and professional interest in science increased significantly among the sub-areas of the scientific attitude test. As a result of analyzing free responses and indepth interviews, gifted students responded with the advantage that classes using smart devices that combine AR and VR can be tested quickly and safely for a short time compared to actual experiments. On the other hand, they responded with low completeness of the application and dizziness when operating virtual reality. Based on this, implications for the development of applications and instructional programs using advanced technologies that can experience realistically limited scientific experiments such as experimental preparation, class time, and risk factors were obtained.
