  • This study aims to suggest a model and instructional strategies for a flipped classroom using First Principles of Instruction in engineering education in order to organize teaching and learning activities in a flipped classroom. For this purpose, the authors analyzed the literature on the flipped classroom in engineering education and on applying First Principles of Instruction in designing flipped classroom. Then, a framework of flipped classroom employing First Principles of Instruction and instructional strategies were suggested. Two experts examined the validity of the model and of the instructional strategies, and the final version was completed reflecting on those feedback. Since engineering education aims to teach procedural knowledge as well as conceptual knowledge, different instructional strategies upon two types of knowledge were presented. The implication of our work is to illustrate the model and tactics for flipped classroom based on the Merrill's deeply rooted pedagogical approach. This study may contribute to practice in engineering education.

  • Objectives: The propose of this study was to compare the effects of sex education methods between CAI and Lecture on to improve sex related knowledge and attitudes of middle school female students. Methods: The subjects were selected from one of the Kyoungbuk province's girls middle school. Out of 9 classes of first grade, 2 classes were selected as experimental group and 2 classes were selected as control group. This research was conducted from September 1st to October 1st, 2004. 8 lessons of CAI sex education program was given to experimental group and 8 lessons of sex education lectures was given to control group. To measure the level of sex related knowledge and attitudes of the subjects, the researcher used the modified Kye's, Sung's and Jung's sex related knowledge and attitudes scale. SPSS/Win 10.0 program was used to analyse the data along with Frequency, Percentage, $x^2$-test, t-test, and paired t-test. Results: 1. Sex related knowledge score in the experimental group educated by CAI program will be different from the control group using lecture education(t=3.49, p=0.001). 2. Sex related attitudes score in the experimental group educated by CAI will be different from the control group using lecture education(t=2.94, p=0.004). Conclusions: From the above results, CAI sex education program showed as more effective than lecture method to improve sex related knowledge and attitudes.

  • This paper presents design andd verification of a circuit that improves the control-operation problems of Stored Program Optical Computer (SPOC), which is an optical computer using $LiNbO_3$ optical switching element. Since the memory of SPOC takes the Delay Line Memory (DLM) architecture and instructions that are needless of operands should go though memory access stages, SPOC memory have problems; it takes immoderate access time and unnecessary operations are executed in Arithmetic Logical Unit (ALU) because desired operations can't be selectively executed. In this paper, improvement on circuit has been achieved by removing the memory access of instructions that are needless of operands by decoding instructions before locating operand. Unnecessary operations have been reduced by sending operands to some specific operational units, not to all the operational units in ALD. We show that total execution time of a program is minimized by using the Dual Instruction Register(DIR) architecture.

  • The purpose of this study is to search GIS education in High School in Korea. Firstly, Expanded Content of GIS in the 7th National Curriculum call upon increased demand of GIS education. Secondly, It is urgent to development of GIS Education Program, There is insufficient practical instruction of GIS in High School because of ill-equipped environment. For that reason we proposed GIS program. Thirdly, It is necessary to integrate between 'Instruction about GIS' and 'GIS Assisted Instruction' in School. Finally, It is necessary to systematically prepare and study of GIS Education for the future National Curriculum.

  • Tne mathematical modeling and analysis results of a dataflow logic solving processor(DFLSP) for programmable logic controller(PLC) are proposed in this paper. The logic program language is formalized using a dataflow graph model. From this dataflow graph, the instruction precedence relationship, and deadlock problems, which are major properties of a logic program, are described.

  • Interaction through communication plays critical role in the mathematics learning in the sociocultural perspectives. The communication make the students construct shared knowledge, and also plays a role of mediation in making meaning. So, we have to consider sociocultural eprspectives in design of the mathematics leaning using computer. While Computer Assisted Instruction was the one-directional teaching program which proceed from computer to students, mathematics leaning using computer in the sociocultural perspectives have to consider two-directional instruction that proceed from computer to students as well as from students to computer. This interactional activity is the critical thing in the mathematics learning using computer.

  • The purposes of the study are (1) to develop a Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) program to deal with middle school students' misconceptions on the concept of atmospheric pressure, and (2) to investigate the effects of the CAI on students' achievement and conceptual change. The findings of the study are as follows: (1) Misconceptions about atmospheric pressure found are similar to the ones identified in earlier studies, (2) A CAI program on atmospheric pressure was developed based on the students' misconceptions identified, and (3) The instruction using CAI program has very positive effects on students' science achievement and conceptual change.
