Approximate Method of Transmission Lines Crossing a Rectangular Aperture in a Backplane (백 플레인의 사각형 개구를 관통하는 전송 선로의 근사 해석법)

  • This paper presents the approximate analysis method for the symmetric transmission line crossing the aperture in an backplane. The method of moments is used to determine the aperture impedance for the construction of the equivalent transmission line that the aperture impedance apply to the transmission line as the shunt impedance. As the results, the insertion loss increases at the specific frequency range for the impedance matching. In the case of the mismatching, we are confirmed to the insertion gain at the specific frequency. Also the horizontal length of the aperture affects to the transmission line better than vertical length. The measurement of the insertion loss is performed to verify the theoretical analysis.

A New BIM Line Code for High Speed Binary Data Transmission (고속 이진 데이터 전송을 위한 새로운 BIM 선로부호)

  • This paper proposes new line code BIM (Bit Insertion and Manipulation) that is designed to overcome the problems of existing line codes. The block code, one of typical existing line code, has good transmission performance but difficulty in implementation. The other typical existing line code, bit insertion code, is easy to implementation but has bad transmission performance. BIM code in this paper could provide not only good performance but also provides simplicity in the implementation by combining the good points of block code into it of bit insertion code properly. In this paper, 5B6B type BIM code is designed. Designed 5B6B BIM code shows good transmission performance such $\pm$2 DSV, 0 RSD, 7 maximum run length and also it can be implemented under 2000 gates and need only 1 bit redundancy.

A Buffer Insertion Method for RLC Interconnects (RLC 연결선의 버퍼 삽입 방법)

  • This paper presents a buffer insertion method for RLC-class interconnect structured as a sin91e line or a tree. First, a closed form expression for the interconnect delay of a CMOS buffer driving single RLC line is represented. This expression has been derived by the n-th power law for deep submicrometer technology and occurs to be within 9 percentage of maximal relative error in accuracy compared with the results of HSPICE simulation for various RLC loads. This paper proposes a closed form expression based on this for the buffer insertion of single RLC lines and the buffer sizing algorithms for RLC tree interconnects to optimize path delays. The proposed buffer insertion algorithms are applied to insert buffers for several interconnect trees with a 0.25${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS technology and the results are compared against those of HSPICE.

A Study on the Improved Protective Relaying Algorithm Applied in the Linked System Interconnecting Wind Farm with the Utilities (풍력발전단지 연계 전용선로 보호계전방식의 향상에 대한 연구)

  • This paper describes the correction strategy of an overcurrent relay applied in the linked line for interconnecting wind farm with utility power networks in order to improve the capability of a fault detection. The fault current measured in a relaying point might vary according to the fault conditions. Generally, the current of the line to line fault or the line to ground fault in the linked line is much higher than the set value of protective relay due to the large fault level. However, when the high impedance fault occurs in the linked line, we can't detect it by conventional set value because its fault level may be lower than the generating capacity of wind farm. And, the protective relay with conventional set value may generate a trip signal for the insertion of wind turbine generators due to the large transient characteristics. In order to solve above problems and improve protective relaying algorithms applied in the linked line, we propose a new correction strategy of the protective relay in the linked line. The presented method can detect the high impedance fault which can't be detected by conventional relay set value and may prevent the mis-operation of protective relay caused by the insertion of wind farm.

Recognition of the Center Position of Electric Line Using Modified Hough Transform (수정 하후변환을 이용한 전선의 중심위치의 인식)

  • Uninterrupted power supply has become indispensable during the maintenance task of active electric power lines as a result of today's highly information-oriented society and increasing demand of electric utilities. The maintenance task has the risk of electric shock and the danger of falling from high place. Therefore it is necessary to realize an autonomous robot system. In order to realize these tasks autonomously, the there dimensional position of target object such as electric line and the stand of insulator must be recognized accurately and rapidly. The insertion task of an electric line into a sleeve is selected as the typical task of the maintenance of active electric power distribution lines in this paper. A modified hough transform is applied to the recognition of the center of electric line and optimal target position calculation method is newly derived in order to recognize the center 3 dimensional position of the electric line. By the proposed method, it is proved that the center position of the electric line can be recognized without respect to the noise of image and the shape of electric lines and the insertion task of an electric tine is realized.

KRDD: Korean Rice Ds-tagging Lines Database for Rice (Oryza sativa L. Dongjin)

  • The Korean Rice Ds-tagging lines Database (KRDD) is designed to provide information about Ac/Ds insertion lines and activation tagging lines using japonica rice. This database has provided information on 18,158 Ds lines, which includes the ID, description, photo image, sequence information, and gene characteristics. The KRDD is visualized using a web-based graphical view, and anonymous users can query and browse the data using the search function. It has four major menus of web pages: (i) a Blast Search menu of a mutant line; Blast from rice Ds-tagging mutant lines; (ii) a primer design tool to identify genotypes of Ds insertion lines; (iii) a Phenotype menu for Ds lines, searching by identification name and phenotype characteristics; and (iv) a Management menu for Ds lines.

Impact of Central Line Insertion Bundle on the Adherence of Bundle and Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections in the Operating Room (수술실에서 중심정맥관 삽입 시 번들적용이 중심정맥관 관련 혈류감염에 미치는 영향)

  • Background: This study purposed to examine how the incidence of the central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) in a operating room (OR) is affected by bundle application on central line insertion (CLI) practice. Methods: The study design was a pretest-posttest experimental trial. The subjects were 83 patients before the bundle application on CLI and 70 patients after. Results: The compliance(%) of bundle on CLI of among those who observed all of the five items increased from 7.2% before the intervention to 72.9% after. By items, compliance with the maximal barrier precaution was 100% for the use of a mask and cap before and after the intervention, but increased from 73.5% before the intervention to 88.6% after for the hand hygiene, from 73.5% to 88.6% for the use of a sterile gown, and from 9.6% to 75.7% for the use of a sterile large drape covering the whole body. CLABSI did not happen on CLI either before or after the application of the bundle intervention. Conclusion: Bundle application increased compliance with the use of a sterile gown and the use of a sterile large drape. However, its effect in the prevention of CLABSI was not clear probably due to the short period of intervention in a single hospital.

Design and Fabrication of Reflective Array Type Wideband SAW Dispersive Delay Line

  • A reflective array type surface acoustic wave(SAW) dispersive delay line(DDL) with high time-bandwidth at the V/UHF-band is designed and fabricated for compressive receiver applications. This type of the SAW DDL has the properties of the relative bandwidth of 20 %, the time delay of 49.89 usec, the insertion loss of 38.5 dB and the side lobe rejection of 39 dB. In comparison with a commercial SAW DDL, the insertion loss, amplitude ripple and side lobe rejection are improved by $1.5dB{\pm}0.6dB$ and 4 dB respectively. Using the fabricated SAW DDL, the prototype of the compressive receiver is developed. It is composed of RF converter, fast tunable LO, chirp LO, A/D converter, signal processing unit and control unit. This prototype system shows a fine frequency resolution of below 30 kHz with high scan rate.

  • This paper considers the genetic algorithms(GAs) for the mixed model assembly line sequencing(MMALS) in which the objective is to minimize the overall line length. To apply the GAs to the MMALS, the representation, selection, genetic sequencing operators, and genetic parameters are studied. Especially, the existing sequencing binary operators such as partially map crossover(PMX), cycle crossover(CX), and order crossover (OX) are modified to be suitable for the MMALS, and a new sequencing binary operator called immediate successor relationship crossover (ISR) is introduced. These binary operators mentioned above and/or unary operators such as swap, insertion, inversion, displacement, and splice are compared to find operators which work well in the MMALS. Experimental results indicate that 1) among the binary operators ISR operator is the best, followed by the modified OX, and the modified PMX, with the modified CX being the worst, 2) among the unary operators inversion operator is the best, followed by displacement, swap, and insertion, with splice being the worst, and 3) in general, the unary operators perform better than the binary operators for the MMALS.

An Effective Utilization of Regenerative Power According to the Output Voltage of Substations in the DC Electric Railways (직류전기철도 시스템에 있어서의 변전소 송출전압에 따른 회생전력유효이용)

  • In DC electric railway systems, the feeding currrnt is not permitted to flow backward in almost all the substations and the pantograph voltages at the regenerating cars rise extremely by the voltage drop of the resistance of the feeder line. In order to prevent the overrise of the pantograph voltage in power regenerating cars, the squeezing circuits for the regenerative current are equipped and this leads to double losses, which are an extra worn-out of the brake-shoes and an ineffective use of regenerative power. In this study, the insertion of resistors in the feeder line system is proposed as a possible method for the effective utilization of the regenerative power in the electric railways. Also it is investigated how the output voltages of substations affect the effective use of regenertive capability. The investigation results show that the energy savings and the reduction of the worn-out of the brake-shoe can be achieved at the same time by the insertion of resistors in the feeder line system.
