  • New phase-energization strategies are proposed to minimize torque ripple of closed-loop controlled 2-phase Bifilar Hybrid step motors. Lead angle and conduction angles are important parameters in minimizing torque ripple factors. The phase-energization control strategy that minimizes torque ripples for the given average torque is proposed. In this paper, Fourier series are applied to produce the average torque. The strategy is performed by controlling both lead angle and conduction angle of the input voltage wave-form for each phase.

  • This paper presents the method of reducing torque ripple of Blushless Direct Current(BLDC) motor. In the BLDC motor, the torque is decided by the back-EMF and current waveform. If the back-EMF is constant, the torque ripple depends on the current ripple during commutation period. The current in commutation period is acquired by circuit analysis and then the torque ripple simply can be reduced by varying input voltage to flow the current continuously. And suggested method is confirmed by dynamic with parameters of 500W BLDC motor.

  • SRM의 토오크는 상전류의 제곱과 인덕턴스 기울기에 비례한다. 그러나 SRM의 인덕턴스는 자기회로의 포화현상을 회전자위치각과 상전류에 따라 비선형적으로 변화하여 순시적으로 원하는 토오크를 제어하기 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 비선형 해석에 우수한 성능을 보이는 신경회로망을 이용하여 인덕턴스를 모델링하는 방법을 도입하여 인덕턴스의 변화를 관측하였다. 그리고 이를 이용하여 맥동토오크를 해석하였으며 맥동토오크를 저감하는 전압, 전류조건을 시뮬레이션하였다.

  • Electric Power Steering (EPS) system is superior to conventional Hydraulic Power Steering (HPS) system in aspect of fuel economy and environmental concerns. The EPS system consists of torque sensor, electric motor, ECU (Electric Control Unit), gears and etc. Among the elements, the torque sensor is one of the core technologies of which output signal is used for main input of EPS controller. Usually, the torque sensor has used torsion bar to transform torsion angle into torque and needs linear characteristic in terms of flux variation with respect to rotation angle of permanent magnet. The torsion angle of both ends of a torsion bar is measured by a contact variable resistor. In this paper, the sensor is accurately analyzed using 3D finite element method and its characteristics with respect to four different shapes of the stator teeth are compared. The four shapes are rectangular, triangular, trapezoidal and circular type.

  • A DC generator control system was designed to control the torque of a rotating shaft precisely. The control system is composed of a strain gage type torque cell, a torque cell amplifier, a computer, a D/A converter, a error detector, a DC voltage amplifier and a resistor. The response test under unit step input and the dynamic stability test for the designed control system were carried out. It was confirmed that the settling time from the response test is about 4 s and the error from the dynamic stability test is less than 0.06% of rated output of torque cell. The designed control system may be used to control a DC generator which may be used to apply torque to a rotating shaft.

Analysis on Torque, Flowrate, and Volumetric Displacement of Gerotor Pump/Motor

  • It is difficult to analytically derive the relationship among volumetric displacement, flowrate, torque, and rotation speed regarding an instantaneous position of gerotor hydraulic pumps/motors. This can be explained by the geometric shape of the rotors, which is highly complicated. Herein, an analytical method for the instantaneous torque, rotation speed, flowrate, and volumetric displacement of a pump/motor is proposed. The method is based on two physical concepts: energy conservation and torque equilibrium. The instantaneous torque of a pump/motor shaft is determined for the posture of rotors from the torque equilibrium. If the torque equilibrium is combined with the energy conservation between the hydraulic energy of the pump/motor and the mechanical input/output energy, the formula for determining the instantaneous volumetric displacement and flowrate is derived. The numerical values of the instantaneous volumetric displacement, torque, rotation speed, and flowrate are calculated via the MATLAB software programs, and they are illustrated for the case in which inner and outer rotors rotate with respect to fixed axes. The degrees of torque fluctuation, speed fluctuation, and flowrate fluctuation can be observed from their instantaneous values. The proposed formula may provide a better understanding of the design or analysis process of gerotor pumps/motors.

클러치 동적 토크 계측에 관한 연구 (A Study on Measuring Clutch Dynamic Torque)

  • Torque fluctuation of engine generate gear rattle noise of transmission and many researches have been studied to decrease rattle noise by adjusting clutch damper system. So design optimization of clutch system is very important to decrease rattle noise and need knowing clutch dynamic torque at real vehicle driving condition. This makes it possible to measure clutch dynamic torque by using a small-size magnetic sensor. We install a small-size magnetic sensor on the input shaft of the transmission and measure the relative angular displacement between clutch hub and disc plate. We can obtain the clutch torque correspond to the angular displacement in the clutch torsional characteristics test. The object of this research is to measure clutch dynamic torque on real vehicle condition. Therefore, Clutch dynamic torque is very useful for investigating operating range of clutch according to engine torque and predicting the damping performance of torsional vibration on the powertrain.

  • In this paper, recursive least square algorithm is presented to estimate the parameters of step motor under low-speed operation. Parameter estimation is important for compensating the input current by calculating the ratio of the motor torque constant and detent torque constant that causes torque-ripple in low-speed applications. On-line parameter estimation process is a preliminary procedure to apply step motor to adaptive control. Computer simulation shows that the estimated parameters converge in finite time.

토크 컨버터의 1차원 성능 모델을 이용한 유동 각도 보정 계수에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Correction Factor of Flow Angel by using the One Dimentional Performance Model of Torque Converter)

  • One dimensional performance model has been used for the design of torque converter. The model is based on the concept of constant mean flow path and constant flow angle. These constant-assumed para meters make the design procedure to be simple. In practice, some parameters are usually replaced with geometric raw data and, the constant experiential correction factors have been used to minimize the design error. These factors have no definite physical meaning and so they cannot be applied confidently to the other design condition. In this study, the detail dynamic model of torque converter is presented to establish the theoretical background of correction factors. To verify the validity of theoretical model, steady state performance test was carried out on the several input speed. The oil temperature effect on the performance is analysed and adjusted. The constant equivalent flow angles are determined at a part of performance region by comparing the theoretical model and the test data. The sensitivity of correction factors to the input speeds are studied and the change of torus flow is presented.

A control of wound-rotor induction generator for random wave input generation system

  • This paper deals with the secondary excited induction generator applied to random wave input generation system. As it is preferred to stabilize the output voltage and frequency in the constant level, microcomputer controlled CSI connected to the secondary windings supplies the secondary current with slip frequency. For testing this method, the input torque simulator is constructed, according to the power flow analysis. The experimental and numerical results show the advantage of secondary excited induction generator system for the random input wave generation system.
