고체 폐기물 시료 중의 무기 Priority Pollutants 추출법 비교 연구 (The Comparison Study in the Extraction of Inorganic Priority Pollutants from Solid Wastes)

  • 시료의 매질에 따른 추출법의 문제점과 사용 가능성을 조사하기 위해 환경처 발행의 폐기물공정시험방법과 EPA 3050법을 비교 연구하였다. 이를 위해 sludge와 개펄 시료에 12종의 무기 priority pollutants(Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, Ni, Zn, As, Sb, Se, Hg, Be, Tl)를 첨가하여 분석용 시료를 조제하고 AAS, HG-AAS, 그리고 ICP/MS를 사용하여 각 추출방법에 대한 대상 원소의 회수율, 상대표준편차 및 method detection limit를 측정하었다. EPA 3050법에 따라 추출한 경우 회수율이 좋지 않은 As, Sb, Se를 제외한 평균 회수율은 93%였다. 그러나 폐기물공정시험방법의 용출시험방법으로 실험한 경우는 전반적으로 회수율이 32%로 매우 좋지 않을 뿐만 아니라 시료의 매질에 의한 영향을 심각하게 받는 것으로 조사되었다.

황복(Takifugu obscurus)에 대한 중금속, 유기주석화합물 및 다환방향족탄화수소(PAHs)의 급성 독성 (Acute Toxicity of Dissolved Inorganic Metals, Organotins and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons to Puffer Fish, Takifugu obscurus)

  • We exposed juvenile puffer fish, Takifugu obscurus(30 days after hatching) to various aqueous pollutants including 4 kinds of inorganic metals (Ag, Cd, Cu and Hg), 2 organotin compound.; (tributyltin [TBT] and triphenyltin[TPhT]) and 5 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) compounds (chrysene, fluoranthene, naphthalene, phenanthrene and pyrene) to estimate median lethal concentrations (LC50s) of each pollutant after the 96-hour acute exposure. Among the inorganic metals, Hg (52 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L; 96-h LC50) was most toxic to test animals and followed by Ag (164 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L), Cu (440 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L) and Cd (1180 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L). Aqueous TBT was more toxic between the two organotins; the 96-h LC50 for TBT (5.1 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L) was 3 times lower than that of TPhT (17.3 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L). The acute toxicity of PAH compounds was highest for chrysene (1.5 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L; 96-h LC50) and decreased in the order of pyrene (65 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L) > fluoranthene (158 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L) > phenanthrene (432 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L) > naphthalene (8690 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L). The toxicity of PAH compounds wat closely related to their physico-chemical characteristics such as $K_{ow}$ and water solubility, and well explained by simple QSAR relationship. The sensitivity of puffer fish to various inorganic and organic pollutants was generally comparable to various fish species widely used as standard test species in previous studies and further evaluation should be conducted to develop adequate testing procedure for T. obscurus when used in various toxicity tests.

  • 식물을 이용하여 오염된 토양에 존재하는 유기 및 무기 오염 물질을 제거하는 phytoremediation은 환경 정화를 위한 새로운 기술이다. 독성 중금속, 방사성 핵종 및 독성 유기 오염 물질을 제거하는데 이용될 수 있는 phytoremediation 에는 다음의 세가지 방법이 있다. (1) phytoextraction: 독성 중금속이나 방사성 핵종과 같은 무기 오염 물질을 수화가능한 부분에 축적하는 식물체를 이용하여 정화하는 방법, (2) phytodegradation: 독성 물질을 분해하는 효소를 분비하는 식물체를 이용하거나 효소를 생산해내는 미생물과 밀접한 연관이 있는 식물체를 이용하여 독성 물질을 무독성 물질로 전환하는 방법, 그리고 (3) phytostabilization: 독성 오염 물질을 용존 상태에서 침전 흑은 식물체의 조직이나 주변 토양 matrix에 흡착시켜 안정화시키는 방법이다. 이 기술은 기존의 어떤 처리 방법보다 더 효과적이고 경제적이다.

  • For studying out the method of the effective purification of waste waters such as dying, paper pulp and plating wastewater, we measured the COD removal efficiency, color and turbidity of those pollutants by the physical and chemical method using the Inorganic Coagulating Agent (CM, RM) and a High Voltage Generator. The COD removal efficiency measured when applying the Inorganic Coagulating Agent (CM, RM) was mush higher than that using the Existing Coagulating Agent In addition to, when using those two methods above mentioned at the same time, both the COD removal efficiency and the reduction-effect of the inserting quantities of Coagulating Agent were higher than those were used singly. The system using both an Inorganic Coagulating Agent and a High Voltage Generator will be useful in various fields of wastewater treatment.

우리나라 전통 숯의 물리.화학적 특성 (Characteristics of Physical and Adsorption of Korean Traditional Charcoal)

  • The water purification was very important in Korea which has not sufficient water resource and while adsorption method among the various methods to eliminate the water pollutants has been widely used by activated carbon. This study was conducted the basic experiment for hall distribution, pH, conductivity, electronic microscope, cation exchange and inorganic materials the adsorption capacity of Korean traditional charcoal which has similar characteristics to activated carbon of organic pollutants. As a result of observing Korean traditional charcoal with electronic microscope, it was found that it has porous structure, oak charcoal has circular structure, pine charcoal has square structure and bamboo charcoal has hexagonal structure, which has high void fraction per unit area because of its thin cell wall structure. As a result of experimenting hall distribution, hall distribution of bamboo high temperature charcoal is high as 0.269cc/g and has the greatest inorganic contents and cation exchange capacity(CEC) which are the important factor of chemical adsorption.

  • 경주 불국사 삼층석탑에서 발생한 무기오염물과 보수물질의 생성 원인 및 재질 특성을 규명하기 위해 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 황색 오염물은 외부 기원 토양 또는 풍화토의 침착으로 인한 변색, 적갈색 오염물은 산화철 광물의 한 종류인 침철석(Goethite, FeOOH)에 의한 오염, 흑색 오염물은 망간(Mn) 산화물이 부재 표면에 고착되면서 암석의 색상 변화를 유발하는 것으로 확인되었다. 과거에 사용된 보수 재료 중 시멘트 모르타르는 외부 환경과 반응하여 백화현상을 야기한 것으로 판단된다. 이를 통해 석탑 오염물질과 관련된 기초 자료를 확보하고, 효율적인 보존처리 방안마련 자료로 활용하였다. 한편, 외부환경에 노출되어 있는 석탑은 오염물 재형성 가능성이 높으므로 지속적인 모니터링을 통한 체계적인 관리가 요구된다.

Enhanced photocatalytic oxidation of humic acids using Fe3+-Zn2+ co-doped TiO2: The effects of ions in aqueous solutions

  • Photocatalytic oxidation in the presence of Fe-doped, Zn-doped or Fe-Zn co-doped $TiO_2$ was used to effectively decompose humic acids (HAs) in water. The highest HAs removal efficiency (65.7%) was achieved in the presence of $500^{\circ}C$ calcined 0.0010% Fe-Zn co-doped $TiO_2$ with the Fe:Zn ratio of 3:2. The initial solution pH value, inorganic cations and anions also affected the catalyst photocatalytic ability. The HAs removal for the initial pH of 2 was the highest, and for the pH of 6 was the lowest. The photocatalytic oxidation of HAs was enhanced with the increase of the $Ca^{2+}$ or $Mg^{2+}$ concentration, and reduced when concentrations of some anions increased. The inhibition order of the anions on $TiO_2$ photocatalytic activities was $CO{_3}^{2-}$ > $HCO_3{^-}$ > $Cl^-$, but a slightly promotion was achieved when $SO{_4}^{2-}$ was added. Total organic carbon (TOC) removal was used to evaluate the actual HAs mineralization degree caused by the $500^{\circ}C$ calcined 0.0010% Fe-Zn (3:2) co-doped $TiO_2$. For tap water added with HAs, the $UV_{254}$ and TOC removal rates were 57.2% and 49.9%, respectively. The $UV_{254}$ removal efficiency was higher than that of TOC because of the generation of intermediates that could significantly reduce the $UV_{254}$, but not the TOC.

  • Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) have known as potentially hazardous air pollutants(HAPs0 to human health because of its carcinogenic and mutagenic behaviors. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of 6 PAHs(Fluoranthene, Pyrene, Benzo[a]anthracene, Chrysene, Benzo[b]fluoranthene, and Benzo[a]pyrene) as well as 10 inorganic elements(Cr, Na, K, Zn, Pb, Fe, Cu, Ti, Al and Cd) in the ambient PM-10. The total of 115 samples had been collected from February, 1996 to June, 1996 on quartz fiber by a PM-10 high volume air sampler near the Yong-Tong Apartment complexes. A statistical analysis was performed for the PAHs and inorganic elements data set using a principal component analysis in order to identify qualitatively the potential sources of PM-10. A total of 6 principal components were separated by intensive data pretrement and transformation processes, such as soil, refuse incineration, oil burning, coal burning, field burning, vehicle emission sources. The results showed that PAHs were associated with various burning activities like refuse and field burning, coal burning, and oil burning emissions in the study area. These derived sources were well matched with the previously known source profiles in terms of compositonal order and level of measured species. The combination data set consisted of both organic and inorganic species might provide more powerful source signature and might increase the number of potentially derived sources than PAHs or inorganic data alone.

Application of Response Surface Methodology for optimize the Biostimulant ball and stabilize Heavy metals pollutants in contaminated coastal sediments

  • The variety of organic and inorganic pollutants are introduced to coastal sediment and making highly contaminated due to rapid development of industralization and economic development. Numerous contaminants are release into marine sediment and it significantly affect marine aquatic environment. In the present study stated the optimize the biostimulant ball (BSB) in coastal sedimentand stabilse the heavy metals present in the sediment. The effective variables like BSB size, distance and month variables on Cu stabilization was determined by using Response surface methodology(RSM). The analysis of variance (ANOVA) and coefficient determination (R2) of Cu reduction 0.9610 and maximum stabilisation was obtained in 3cm ball size and 5.5cm distance and 4 month interval time. This result revealed that the BSB in effective for Cu reduction in coastal sediment.
