제지공정 침착이물질 및 종이내 불순물 성분의 기기분석 (Instrumental Analysis of Deposits on Paper Machine and Holes/Spots in Paper)

  • 제지공정 트러블을 일으키는 침착물과 제품의 품질을 저하시키는 종이내 불순물들의 성분을 기기분석하였다. 우선적으로 퓨리에변환 적외선분광기(FT-IR spectrometer)를 이용하여 이물질의 원형 그대로를 측정하여 예비정보를 얻은 뒤 열분해-가스크로마토그래피-질량분석기(Py-Gc/MS)를 이용해서 불순물들의 유기성분을 분석하였으며, $590^{\circ}C$에서 열분해시키고 난 ash는 에너지분산분광법(EDS)을 이용하여 무기성분을 분석하였다. 초지기 건조부에 침착된 성분은 지방산 에스테르 및 전분 등의 유기 이물질과 탈크, 크레이, 탄산칼슘 등의 무기 이물질로 이루어진 복합적인 피치형태로써 재사용 도공파지 성분에 의한 것이며, 심사이저 메터링로드에 끼인 침착물은 불안정한 alkyl keten dimer(AKD) 성분이 탄산칼슘과 상호작용하여 침착을 일으킨 것으로 분석되었다. 종이내 구멍 성분은 주원료로 사용되는 펄프에서 혼입된 것으로 판단되는 PE및 PP 성분과 초지공정에 사용된 주 부원료들간의 불안정한 상호작용에 의해 응집된 복합적인 피치성분으로 확인되었다. 작업상의 부주의로 완정공정에서 사용되는 hot melt 및 파렛트 받침대로 사용되는 가소제를 첨가하여 유연하게 만든 PVC 성분이 재사용 파지와 함께 혼입되어 종이내 얼룩 및 반점 등을 발생시키기도 하며, 초지기 용구로 사용되는 고분자 물질(와이어 또는 펠트)의 일부가 사고 등에 의해 공정중에 혼입되어 도공시 스트리크를 발생시킬 수도 있음을 알 수 있었다.

영산강 퇴적물 인의 존재형태에 대한 실험실 연구 (Laboratory Study of Phosphorus Fractionation in the Sediments of Yeongsan River)

  • 본 연구는 영산강 죽산보 상류 퇴적물을 대상으로 퇴적물에 존재하는 무기인의 존재형태를 파악하고 수체에 미치는 잠재적인 가능성을 예측해보고자 실험실 실험을 진행하였다. 이를 위해 현장 퇴적물을 채취하여 7일 동안 배양실험을 진행하였고, 배양 후 퇴적물의 존재형태별 인 및 수층의 총인을 측정하였다. 무기인의 총량은 YS1 지점보다 YS2 지점에서 더 많았으며, 존재형태별 인 중 Al-P와 Fe-P의 비율이 높았다. 두 지점 퇴적물 모두 배양 초기에 비해 배양 7일 후 Al-P, Fe-P 그리고 Ca-P는 증가하였으며, Red-P는 시간에 따라 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 수층의 총인 농도는 YS1 지점에서 배양시간에 따라 증가하는 경향을 보였고, YS2 지점에서는 배양 7일 후 초기에 비해 총인의 농도가 감소하였다. 퇴적물 입자가 조밀한 YS1 지점이 YS2 지점에 비해 수층 총인 농도가 높은 결과로부터 수층의 총인 농도 변화는 퇴적물의 입도에 영향을 받음을 알 수 있었다. 존재형태별 인 중 Fe-P는 수층의 총인 농도와 음의 상관관계를, Red-P는 양의 상관관계를 보였다. 본 연구의 결과로부터, 수층의 총인 농도를 관리하기 위해서는 퇴적물 인의 존재형태별 특성을 지속적으로 모니터링 하는 것의 필요성을 확인할 수 있다.

  • 질소원(窒素源)을 달리한 배양액(培養液)으로 담배식물의 양분흡수와 생육반응을 조사한 결과 1. $NO_3-N$ 배양액에서 자란식물은 양분 흡수가 크게 촉진되었다. $NH_4-N$ 배양액에서 자란식물보다 $NO_3-N$의 흡수로 무기양(無機陽)이온의 흡수가 현저하게 증가되었고 그중 K의 흡수가 가장컷으며 처리직후부터 빠른 흡수속도로 총질소(總窒素)는 2배(倍), K, Ca, Mg는 모두 3배 이상 높았다. 그리고 $NO_3+NH_4$ 혼합배양액(混合培養液)에서는 $NO_3-N$ 선택흡수(選擇吸收)되는 경향을 보였다. 2. 담배식물이 자란 배양액의 산도(酸度)는 질소원별로 상이(相異)하여 $NO_3-N$ 배양액은 알카리쪽으로 미미하게 변하지만 $NH_4-N$ 배양액에서 산성(酸性)쪽으로 큰 변화를 나타냈고 $NO_3+NH_4$ 혼합액(混合液)도 산성(酸性)쪽으로 변하지만 $NH_4-N$단독배양액보다는 크지 않았다. 3. 담배식물의 생육반응은 $NO_3-N$ 배양액에서 가장 양호하게 나타났으나 $NH_4{^+}$을 함유한 배양액에서는 생육이 부진하였으며 특히 $NH_4-N$ 단독배양액에서는 생육이 거의 정지되었다.

부산 도심지역 대기중 입자상물질의 크기분포에 따른 수용성 이온성분의 특성 (Size Distribution Characteristics of Water-soluble Ionic Components in Airborne Particulate Matter in Busan)

  • This study was conducted to investigate size distribution characteristics of water-soluble ionic components in the airborne particulate matter (PM) collected from an urban area in Busan using a MOUDI cascade impactor from March to October 2010. The inorganic constituents in the fine particles (${\leq}1.8{\mu}m$) predominantly consisted of sulfate, nitrate, ammonium, and potassium. Sulfate and ammonium concentrations showed a high correlation and similar equivalent concentrations in the fine modes including $0.18{\sim}0.32{\mu}m$, $0.32{\sim}0.56{\mu}m$, and $0.56{\sim}1.0{\mu}m$. This indicates that the main chemical component in the fine particles would be forms of ammonium sulfate such as $(NH_4)_3H(SO_4)_2$, $(NH_4)_2SO_4$, and $(NH_4)HSO_4$. Back trajectory analysis showed that relatively higher concentrations of ammonium, nitrate, and sulfate in the fine mode, compared to the coarse mode, are caused both by domestic sources and long-range transports originated from China continent. High concentration episodes of PM both in the fine mode and the coarse mode were attributed both by anthropogenic sources, such as ship emissions and traffic emissions, and by natural sources such as seawater (sea salt), respectively.

목포, 여천지역 강수의 무기이온 성분농도와 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Ion Distribution and Behavior of Acidrain in Mokpo and Yeochon Area)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the constituents of inorganic ions of precipitation in Mokpo and Yeochon area from Jan. 1996 to Dec. 1997. The volume-weighted mean pH of precipitation was 5.7(4.8~7.8) at Mokpo, and 5.6(5.1~7.4) at Yeochon area, respectively. The non-seasalt(nss) anion concentrations were found in order of $nss-SO^{2-}_4>NO^-_3>nss-Cl^-$ at two areas. The portion of $nss-SO^{2-}_4;and;NO^-_3$ was 71~84% out of anions. The the non-seasalt cation concentrations were found in order of $NH^+_4>nss-Ca^{2-}>nss-Mg^{2+}>nss-K^-$ at two areas. The portion of $NH^+_4;and; nss-Ca^{2+}$ was 85~92% out cations. Compared regionally the year concentraton of $nss-SO^{2-}_4$, the result of Yeochon was 3 times higher than that of Mokpo in 1996, while the results of two regions were almost similar in 1997. The reason was that Yeochon was restricted area of the use of 0.5% sulfur B-C oil, controlled air pollution emission area, controlled semitotal amounts of air pollution emission area and partial operating of factories in 1997. There were no ions having high correlation with $H^+,;but;nss-SO^{2-}_4,;NO^-_3,;NH^+_4;and;nss-Ca^{2+}$ showed high correlation coefficient each other. It seems that these ions have little correlation with $H^+$ because they are washed out on binding state. Factor analysis showed that the first factor was complicated factor containing anthropogenic and soil resource, the second factor was sea-salt resource and the third factor was independent behavior of hydrogen at Mokpo. While, the first factor was complicated factor containing anthropogenic and sea-salt resource, the second factor was $Ca(NO_3)_2$ salt and the third factor was $NH^+_4;and;SO^{2-}_4$ synergied by resource and combination at Yeochon.

Fenton-oxidation에 의한 MTBE(Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether)처리시의 영향인자에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Factors of Fenton-oxidation of MTBE in Water and Soil)

  • The treatment of soils and water contaminated with MTBE using the Fenton oxidation was investigated. The effects of dosage of $H_{2}O_{2}$, and Fe$^{2+}$ concentrations, and solution pH on transformation and mineralization in soil were evaluated. Generation of TBA and acetone following Fenton-oxidation of MTBE in water and generation of acetone following Fenton-oxidation of TBA were observed. Therefore TBA and acetone are degradation intermediates of MTBE. There was a large difference of treatment efficiency in Fenton oxidation of MTBE between soil and water system. This may be caused by the complex nature of soil, soil organic matter which can consumed OH $\cdot$ radicals, and interacting with inorganic-soil constituents. The pH of soil was observed to have a significant effect on the chemical oxidation efficient of MTBE in soil The data demonstrated that optimal pH range were pH 3~4 and around 6. The soil batch studies demonstrated that treatment efficiency of MTBE was enhanced by adding additional ferrous salts but Fenton-oxidation occurred in no additional iron which indicated that iron in soil can catalyze the Fenton-oxidation. The most effective parameter of Fentonoxidation was $H_{2}O_{2}$/Fe$^{2+}$ ratio which theocratical ratio is 0.5. The optimal range of this ratio was found to be 0.6~2.3. In evaluating effect of $H_{2}O_{2}$ dosage on treatment efficiency, the increase of $H_{2}O_{2}$ did not always lead to increase of decompositions of MTBE in soil. Fenton oxidation was effective in destroying MTBE in aqueous extracts of contaminated soil and water. Experimental data provided evidence that the Fenton oxidation can effectively remediate MTBE-contaminated water and soil.

한약재내의 미량원소의 의의와 치료효과에 대한 고찰 (Therapeutical Effect with Trace Elements in Herbal Medicine)

  • Trace element are involved in enzymatic activities, immunological reactions. physiological mechanisms. Deficiency in some trace elements, such as iron and iodine. is still an important health problem, The role of trace elements deficiency is suspected in various clinical situations and is now confirmed by well designed supplementation studies. However, the importance of trace elements as chinese herbal constituents is not sufficiently appreciated by the oriental medical profession, although in recent years a significant increase of new finding on their essential character in chinese herbal medicine occurred. It is well known that herbal medicine contains a variety of trace elements which would show therapeutic effects with active components in herbal medicine . In china, recent work showed some positive correlation between trace element and traditional chinese medicine (TCM) in terms of therapeutic effects even if their role in therapeutic effects is still obscure. In korea, not much attention has been on the therapeutic importance of trace element contained in herbal medicine Here, the therapeutic effects of trace element in TCM were reviewed and summarized. 1. Iron, copper, zinc and manganese are mainly contained in TCM. In addtion, chromium, magnesium, molybdenum, nickel, alminium, cobalt, arsenic and selenium has been studied for their therapeutic effects 2. Zinc, is decreased in patients who have deficiency of kindney(腎虛) and chronic disease. Fe is decreased in patients who have deficiency of blood(血虛). However copper is increased in patients who have chronic disease and hepatic disease.3 Iron concentration is high in herbs used for tonifying and nourishing yin or blood(補陰補血藥) Zinc concentration is high also in herb used for tonifying kidiney and vital essence(補腎補精藥). In addition. copper concentration Is high in herb used for replenishing qi(補氣藥) 4 In herbal drugs, the therapeutic substances in TCM are not only organic but also inorganic. It seems that trace elements would be one of components in herb for its therapeutic effects. This indicates that therapeutic effects of TCM should be extended not only to herb itself, bur also to trace elements contained in herb.

  • One of the most important environmental problems is global warming. Global warming is caused by increase in the amounts of water vapor, methane, carbon dioxide and other gases being released into the atmosphere as a result of the burning of fossil fuels. It has thus become important to reduce fossil fuel use. Environmentally friendly preparation of functional materials has, therefore, attracted much interest for environmental problems. Furthermore, nature mimetic processes are recently been of great interest as environmentally friendly one. There have been many studies on fabrication of various functional nanocrystals. Among various nanocrystal fabrication techniques, flux growth is an environmentally friendly, very convenient process and can produce functional nanocrystals at temperatures below the melting points of the solutes. Furthermore, this technique is suitable for the synthesis of crystals having an enhedral habit. In flux growth, the constituents of the materials to be crystallized are dissolved in a suitable flux (solvent) and crystal growth occurs as the solution becomes critically supersaturated. The supersaturation is attained by cooling the solution, by evaporation of the solvent or by a transport process in which the solute is made to flow from a hotter to a cooler region. Many kinds of oxide nanocrystals have been grown in our laboratory. For example, zero- (e.g., particle), one- (e.g., whisker and tube) and two-dimensional (e.g., sheet) nanocrystals were successfully grown by flux method. Our flux-growth technique has some industrial and ecological merits because the nanocrystal fabrication temperatures are far below their melting points and because the used reagents are less harmless to human being and the environment.

낙동강변 지하수 및 지표수의 주요원소 용존 농도 결정에 대한 막필터 공극 크기의 영향 분석 (Evaluating Effects of Membrane Filter Pore Sizes on Determination of Dissolved Concentrations of Major Elements in Groundwater and Surface Water Near Nakdong River)

  • Various types of inorganic and organic colloids are present in natural water including groundwater. Previous studies showed that Fe, Mn and Al are colloid-forming elements and dissolved concentrations can be erroneous for these elements if water samples are not properly filtered. Dissolved concentrations of elements including Ca, Na, Mg, K, Fe, Mn, Si and Al in groundwater from alluvial and bedrock aquifers, and surface water near Nakdong River were determined to evaluate effects of colloids on dissolved concentrations in natural water samples using various pore sizes of filters. Groundwater is mostly anoxic and have elevated concentrations of Fe and Mn, which provides a unique opportunity to observe the effects of colloids on dissolved concentrations of colloid-forming elements. Membrane filters with four kinds of pore sizes of 1000 nm, 450 nm, 100 nm, and 15 nm were used for filtration of water samples. Concentrations of dissolved concentrations in each filtrate did not show significant differences from 1000 nm to 100 nm. However, concentrations of all elements considered were decreased in the filtrates obtained using 15 nm pore size filters by 10 to 15% compared to those using 450 nm except for bedrock groundwater. Al in surface water showed a distinct linear decrease with the decrease of filter pore sizes. These results showed that 100 nm pore size had little effect to remove colloidal particles in alluvial groundwater and surface water in our study. In contrast, significant concentration decreases in 15 nm pore size filtrates indicate that the presence of 15 to 100 nm colloidal particles may affect determination of dissolved concentrations of elements in natural water.

품종별 감자 전분의 이화학적 특성 (Physicochemical Properties of Several Potato Starches)

  • 6개 품종의 감자에서 분리한 전분의 물리화학적 특성을 조사하였다. Arkula에서 분리한 전분은 다른 품종에 비해 회분 함량이 훨씬 낮았다. 분리 전분입자의 형태는 난형과 구형이었고, 평균입경은 $25{\sim}26.9{\mu}$였다. 전분의 무기질 성분중 인산과 칼륨이 가장 중요한 성분이었다. 분리전분의 아밀로스 함량은 $32{\sim}27.2%$의 범위였고, blue value와 alkali number는 각각 $0.42{\sim}0.45$, $5.8{\sim}7.7$ 정도였다. 아밀로그람에 의한 호화 개시온도는 $63.5{\sim}68^{\circ}C$의 범위였고, Noot Sack이 모든 지표에서 가장 높은 값을 나타내었다. 팽윤력과 용해도는 $50^{\circ}C$까지는 큰 변화가 없었으나, 그후 급격히 증가했다.
