  • This study was carried out in order to investigate dextran formation and internal structure during fermentation of the oligosaccharide Jeung-Pyun. The dextran and sugar reducing contents of Jeung-Pyun batter and the specific volume and the internal structure of Jeung-Pyun were analyzed as a function of fermentation time. The specific volume of Jeung-Pyun peaked at the 7th hour of fermentation. The dextran content of Jeung-Pyun batters peaked at the 7~13th hour of fermentation, and Fructooligosaccharide Jeung-Pyun had the least peak value. Reducing sugar content of Jeung-Pyun batters slowly decreased as fermentation progressed. From the air pore size and distribution of Jeung-Pyun observed by SEM, the sucrose Jeung-Pyun fermented for 3~7 hours and oligosaccharide one fermented for 7 hours were judged as the best. It was concluded that dextran may be formed by fermentation of oligosaccharides as well as sucrose and dextran has a significant role on the volume expansion of Jeung-Pyun.

  • The distillation rate on LiCl-KCl eutectic salt under different vacuums from 0.5-50 mmHg was first investigated by using both a non-isothermal and a isothermal thermogravimetric (TG) analysis. Based on the non-isothermal TG data, distillation rate equations as a function of the temperature could be derived. Calculated flux by these model flux equations was in agreement with the distillation rate obtained from isothermal TG analysis. A distillation rate of $10^{-4}-10^{-5}$ mole $cm^{-2}sec^{-1}$ is obtainable at temperatures less than 1300K and vacuums of 0.5-50 mmHg. About a 99% salt distillation efficiency was obtained after an hour at a temperature above 1150 K under 50 mmHg in a small scale distillation test system. An increase in the vaporizing surface area is relatively effective for removing residual salt in the remaining particles, when compared to that for the vaporizing time. Over 99.95% of total distillation efficiency was obtained for a 1-h distillation operation by increasing the inner surface area from $4.52cm^2$ to $12.56cm^2$.

  • Rapid variation of coastal ecosystem in the East Sea of Korea, such as fishery resource variation and subtropical chang of bentic flora, accordong to the global warming are actually noticed. In this study we try to identify the characterics of water mass existing in this coastal area and to consider the variation of their physical and chemical properties using data of temperature, salinity and dissolved oxygen obtained by National Fisheries Research & Development Institute from 1960 to 2005. The temperature of all water mass rise during last 45 years; the rise of North Korea Cold Water temperature (about $2.33^{\circ}C$) is 1.5 times higher than that of Tsushima warm water (about $1.6^{\circ}C$), and the temperature rise of Tsushima Surface Water, directly affected by climate chang is $2.57^{\circ}C$, higher than the atmospheric temperature rise during same period, indicating that subtropical change makes progress more rapidly in the coastal marine ecosystem than in the land ecosystem. Otherwise, the salinity in the surface water decrease $0.29\%_{\circ}$ during last 45 years due to the rising trend of rainfall with atmospheric temperature. The dissolved oxygen concentration in the all water mass make a decreasing trend. Specially for the North Korea Cold Water, the dissolved oxygen concentration diminish 0.021 mg/l per year and the decrease in the East Sea Proper Water indicate a change of inner water circulation system.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the canal configuration after shaping by ProTaper rotary files and ProTaper hand files in resin simulated canals. Forty resin simulated canals with a curvature of J-shape and S-shape were divided into four groups by 10 blocks each Simulated root canals in resin block were prepared by ProTaper rotary files and ProTaper hand files using a crown-down pressureless technique All simulated canals were prepared up to size $\#25$ file at end-point of preparation. Pre- and post-instrumentation images were recorded with color scanner. Assessment of canal shape was completed with an image analysis program. Measurements were made at 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 mm from the apex. At each level, outer canal width, inner canal width, total canal width, and amount of transportation from original axis were recorded. Instrumentation time was recorded. The data were analyzed statistically using independent t-test. The result was that ProTaper hand files cause significantly less canal transportation from original axis of canal body and maintain original canal configuration better than ProTaper rotary files, however ProTaper hand files take more shaping time.

  • With a sample of 147 Korean small and medium size companies, this study examined the relationships among degree of information orientation, corporate culture, degree of information management implementation and selected business performances in the process of implementing IMS(Information Management System). Information orientation is defined as company-wide understanding and implementation of the underlying philosophy, principles, approached, and tools of information improvement programs. It is assumed that successful implementation of information improvement programs requires a information-oriented mind-set of the employees. It is also assumed that successful implementation of information improvement programs require strong support from s corporate culture that emphasizes continues improvement. Adopting the competing values model of Quinn and McGrath(1985), corporate culture is classified into 'flexible' versus 'controlled culture' and 'outer-directed' versus 'inner-directed culture'. This study examined how such fitness influenced the implementation of information innovation programs and business performance. Implementation of information innovation programs was measured through various factors, such as leadership, strategic information planning, human resources focus, customer and market focus, process management, and information analysis and application. Business performance was measured through non-financial performance measuresm such as employee results, process results, information results, and customer results, and through perceived financial performance measures.

  • We present the results of far-ultraviolet (FUV) observations of comet C/2001 Q4 (NEAT) obtained with Far-ultraviolet Imaging Spectrograph (FIMS) on board the Korean microsatellite STSAT-1, which operated at an altitude of 700 km in a sun-synchronous orbit. FIMS is a dual channel imaging spectrograph (S-channel 900-1150 ${\AA}$, L-channel 1350-1710 ${\AA}$, and ${\lambda}/{\Delta}{\lambda}$ ~ 550 for both channels) with large image fields of view (S-channel $4.0^{\circ}{\times}4.6^{\prime}$, L-channel $7.5^{\circ}{\times}4.3^{\prime}$, and angular resolution ~ $5-10^{\prime}$) optimized for the observation of diffuse emission of astrophysical radiation. Comet C/2001 Q4 (NEAT) were made in two campaigns during its perihelion approach between May 8 and 15, 2004. Based on the scanning mode observations in the wavelength band of 1400-1700 ${\AA}$, we have constructed an image of the comet with an angular size of $5^{\circ}{\times}5^{\circ}$, which corresponds to the central coma region. Several important fluorescence emission lines were detected including S I multiplets at 1429 and 1479 ${\AA}$, C I multiplets at 1561 and 1657 ${\AA}$, and the CO $A^1{\Pi}-X^1{\Sigma}^+$ Fourth Positive system; we have estimated the production rates of the corresponding species from the fluxes of these emission lines. The estimated production rate of CO was $Q_{CO}=(2.65{\pm}0.63){\times}10^{28}s^{-1}$, which is 6.2-7.4% of the water production rate and is consistent with earlier predictions. The average carbon production rate was estimated to be $Q_C={\sim}1.59{\times}10^{28}s^{-1}$, which is ~60% of the CO production rate. However, the observed carbon profile was steeper than that predicted using the two-component Haser model in the inner coma region, while it was consistent with the model in the outer region. The average sulfur production rate was $Q_S=(4.03{\pm}1.03){\times}10^{27}s^{-1}$, which corresponds to ~1% of the water production rate.

  • Ship have cutout inner bottom and girder and floor etc. Ship's structure is used much, and structure strength must be situated, but establish new concept when high stress interacts sometimes fatally the area. There is no big problem usually by aim of weight reduction, a person and change of freight, piping etc. Because cutout's existence grow up in this place, and, elastic buckling strength by load causes large effect in ultimate strength. Therefore, stiffened perforated plate considering buckling strength and ultimate strength is one of important design criteria which must examine when decide structural concept at initial design. Therefore, and, reasonable buckling strength about perforated stiffened plate need to ultimate strength limited design . Calculated ultimate strength varied several web height and cutout's dimension, and thickness in this investigated data. Used program(ANSYS) applied F.E.A code based on finite element method.

  • While recommender systems were used by a few E-commerce sites former days, they are now becoming serious business tools that are re-shaping the world of I-commerce. And collaborative filtering has been a very successful recommendation technique in both research and practice. But there are two problems in personalized recommender systems, it is First-Rating problem and Sparsity problem. In this paper, we solve these problems using the associative relation clustering and “Lift” of association rules. We produce “Lift” between items using user's rating data. And we apply Threshold by -cut to the association between items. To make an efficiency of associative relation cluster higher, we use not only the existing Hypergraph Clique Clustering algorithm but also the suggested Split Cluster method. If the cluster is completed, we calculate a similarity iten in each inner cluster. And the index is saved in the database for the fast access. We apply the creating index to predict the preference for new items. To estimate the Performance, the suggested method is compared with existing collaborative filtering techniques. As a result, the proposed method is efficient for improving the accuracy of prediction through solving problems of existing collaborative filtering techniques.

  • The outer tie rod is one of the part of steering system, the optimization process was executed to find the lightweight design. The inner tie rod was considered in the optimum design of an outer tie rod. it could be closer to the test condition than in the case of considering outer tie rod only. The aluminum forging material was considered as a weight reduction proposal. The target of optimization was the shape of the minimum weight to resist at the load of buckling. RSM and Kriging interpolation method were applied as a optimization method to consider the nonlinear shape optimization problem. Then, 16.3%, 16.6% of weight reduction was obtained from the result comparing with that of the initial model. The results of meta model optimization was compared with that of finite element method. The error values of buckling load estimation were 2.6%, 2.04%. and those of weight estimation were 0.17%, 0.13%. Therefore, it seemed that the result of Kriging model could be obtained closer to optimum value than that of RSM model.
