해외직접투자가 기업의 재무성과에 미치는 영향: 한국의 중소기업과 대기업 비교를 중심으로 (The Effect of Foreign Direct Investment on Corporate Financial Performances: Focused on Comparison between Korean SMEs and Large Enterprises)

  • 본 연구는 한국기업의 해외직접투자가 재무성과에 미치는 영향을 수익성, 안정성, 성장성, 활동성 부문으로 구분하여 실증 분석하였고, 기업 속성이 다른 중소기업과 대기업에서 각각 특징적 재무성과가 있는지 비교하였다. 해외직접투자 기업은'한국무역투자진흥공사'해외진출기업 Directory에서 선정하였고,'Fn Guide'를 활용하여 1990년부터 2021년까지의 재무자료 중 최초 투자 후 5년간의 재무자료가 완벽한 총 409개 기업(중소기업 136개, 대기업 273개)의 재무자료를 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 수익성부문에서 중소기업은 총자산영업이익률(ROA), 총매출액영업이익률(ROS)에 각각 정(+), 대기업은 각각 부(-)의 영향이 나타나 결과가 달랐다. 안정성부문에서 중소기업은 통계적 유의성이 없었으나 대기업은 부채비율(LEV)에 유의한 부(-)의 영향을 보였다. 성장성부문에서 중소기업은 총자산증가율(AGR)에 유의한 부(-)의 영향이 나타났고, 대기업은 유의한 결과가 없었다. 활동성부문에서 중소기업은 통계적 유의성이 없었으나 대기업은 총자산회전율(ATR), 고정자산회전율(FATR)에 정(+)의 영향이 있었다. 결론적으로 중소기업과 대기업의 해외직접투자는 수익성과 안정성, 성장성, 활동성의 재무성과가 서로 다르게 나타났다.

Water Lubricated Guide Bearing with Self-aligning Segments

  • Water lubricated guide bearing was newly released and has been applied to actual hydro turbines with vertical shaft. As a result, they can have not only high bearing performance but environmental advantages in meeting the demand for reducing river pollution by oil leakage from oil lubricated guide bearing. The PTFE composite guide bearing was tested by experimental equipment operated under conditions similar to those of actual hydro turbines. Circumferential and axial tilting bearing segments help to improve the bearing performance and efficiency due to low friction loss in the bearing system. Furthermore, bearing cooling systems could be eliminated and maintenance periods could be extended, thus the initial investment and operating costs of the hydroelectric power plant are reduced.

  • This study examines the socioeconomic returns to agricultural research and extension services in Korea, using multivariate time series technique and Akino-Hyami formula. Results find that the socioeconomic returns are quite competitive in case of agricultural research with 44.82% internal rate of return and very high in case of extension services with 207.82% internal rate of return. Agricultural production responds to the agricultural research shock about four years after the shock. The magnitudes of the impacts increase until a peak is reached nine years after the initial expenditures and the impacts declines to a zero level after about twenty years. This lag lengths are consistent to the usual literature on research, which finds lags of seven to thirty years. Agricultural production responds to an agricultural extension shock immediately and declines to a zero level after about four years. Thus, the lag lengths are much shorter than those by research shock.

  • Concentrated solar power(CSP) is receiving attention for its ability to generate dispatchable power from heat stored in thermal energy storage(TES). There are currently four types of CSP technology, however experts expect that only parabolic trough and solar tower are to survive from the market due to its higher efficiency and larger capacity in storage. While the initial cost for installing CSP plant is still expensive, the experts expect that investment cost of CSP would decline to the level which would be competitive with PV or wind in the near term future. In addition, further growth in its installation capacity is expected due to the United States and China's aggressive investments in CSP.

  • A new transplant production system that produces high quality plug seedlings of specific crop has been studied. It is a plant factory designed to produce massive amount of virus free seedlings. The design concept for building this plant factory is to realize maximum energy efficiency and minimum initial investment and running cost. The basic production strategy is the sitespecific management. In this case, the management of the growth of individual plantlet is considered. This requires highly automated and information intensive production system in a closed aseptic environment the sterilized specific crops. One of the key components of this sophisticated system is the irrigation system. The conditions that this irrigation system has to satisfy are: 1. to perform the site specific crop management in irrigation and 2. to meet the no waste standard. The objective of this study is to develop an irrigation scheduling that can implement the no waste standard.

Design of Automated Warehouse Systems

  • The warehousing of inventories is an enormous expense to industries worldwide, and yet there are few available that can be used to design rack storage systems while considering overall system costs. The primary objective of this paper is the development of an overall ware hous storage system costs model to aid a warehous planner in the design of automated warehouse systems. A simulation model and statistical estimation procedures are used to determine the maximum inventory levels accumulated in the receiving, storage, and shipping areas. The overall cost model is developed to determine the required total land, the initial investment fund, the number of pieces of handling equipment, and the storage rack configuration for the main storage area. A numerical example is then presented to demonstrate the application of the overall system cost model developed in this paper.

Contract Choice and Pricing of IPOs

  • This paper proposes a pricing model for IPOs which can reconcile the average underpricing phenomenon with the expected wealth maximizing behaviors of market participants. Under the usual informational asymmetry, the optimal offer price for best efforts IPOs is derived as a function of the uncertainty about market's valuation, the expected return on proposed projects and the size of offerings relative to the firm's market value. Depending on these firm-specific characteristics, best efforts IPOs can be underpriced, fairly priced, or overpriced. Introducing the investment banker as an outside information producer, the model is extended to provide empirical implications for pricing and underwriting contract choice decisions which are consistent with the existing empirical evidences. The model predicts that the issuers with greater uncertainty about market's valuation choose best efforts contract over firm commitment contract and the dispersion of initial returns would be greater for best efforts IPOs than for firm commitment IPOs.

부품공유를 통한 저가항공사의 효율성 향상 방안 연구 (A study on Improving Operation Efficiency of LCC through Parts Pooling)

  • Passengers and Airlines wish neither delay nor cancellation due to aircraft defects. However, about 1 delay or cancellation case occurs out of 100 departures worldwide whereas 1 quarter case does in Korean domestic industry. Independent LCC carriers in Korea have almost double case. Most cases are recovered by replacing aircraft components. Airlines have prepared the spare components based on the reliability data by manufacturers to rectify defects or perform preventive maintenances. The total value for initial spares including engine is 40% of the aircraft price when they operate less than 5 aircraft. The more airlines operate the aircraft, the less the ratio of the investment for spares reflecting the economy of scale. This study intends to suggest how to improve the efficiencies as well as the safety of LCC throughout parts pooling including engines.

  • The formulated mechanization packages for grain maize production have performed to the expected limit generating encouraging information. Besides physical feasibility , management factors viz ; production operation sequence, operations scheduling and machinery matching with respect to environment can still limit system suitability. A new production operation sequence was introduced to overcome weed problems and limitations of available working days. Proper operations scheduling will improve the initial soil-crop environment for better seedling establishment, and reduce the (). been identified as key factors to reduce capital investment and cost of proudction .
