Predicting the Living Status of Homeless Youth: Living on the Street or in a Shelter

  • Information about the characteristics of street-living versus shelter-residing youth is vital for tailoring prevention and intervention efforts to the unique needs of runaway and homeless youth. The present study compared two samples of youth [street-living (n=73) versus shelter-residing (n=205)], between the ages of 14 to 17 years, on behavioral and emotional factors and service use. Based on the different characteristics of the two groups, the predictors explaining the living status of the runaways and homeless youth were explored. In general, street-living youth reported more severe substance use, depressive symptoms, and risky sexual behavior, but less lifetime service involvement compared to shelter-residing youth. The factors that predicted shelter-residing status were related to younger age, prior service care experience, more knowledge about HIV, and engaging in less delinquent and risky behavior. Given the little overlap among youth in service involvement and the greater severity faced by street-living youth, the conclusions highlight the need for increased funding and attention towards facilitating the ability of street-living youth to find and enter mental health and reintegration services.

생활행위 분류에 의한 가정부문 용도별 에너지소비 분석모형 개발 (Development of Bottom-up model for Residential Energy Consumption by Use)

  • 생활양식의 변화나 생활행위의 변화에 관련한 가정부문 에너지소비 패턴의 분석을 위해서 용도별 에너지소비자료 작성이 절실히 요청되어 왔다. 이에 따라, 생활행위의 분류에 의한 가정부문 용도별 에너지소비 분석모형을 개발하여 에너지소비 분석을 시도하였다. 본고에서는 부위(방)별 에너지 사용기기의 에너지 소비효율에 생활행위별 기기마다 가동시간을 곱해서 가구당 에너지소비량이 산출될 수 있도록 상향식의 가정 내 모형을 구축하였다. 생활행위 분류를 감안한 용도는 조명용, 난방용, 냉방용, 오락용, 정보용, 위생용, 취사용 등으로 구분하였다.

Examining Factors that Determine the Use of Social Media Privacy Settings: Focused on the Mediating Effect of Implementation Intention to Use Privacy Settings

  • Social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook lead to potential security risks, which consequently raise public concerns about privacy. However, most people rarely make active efforts to protect their personal data, even though they have shown increasing concerns about privacy. Therefore, this study examines the factors that determine social media users' behavior of using privacy settings and testifies the existence of privacy paradox in such a context. In addition, it investigates the mediating effects of implementation intentions on the relationship between intentions and behaviors. In the study, we collected data through questionnaires, and the respondents were undergraduate and graduate students in South Korea. After a pilot test (n = 92) and a set of face-to-face interviews, 266 usable responses were retrieved for data analysis finally. The results confirmed the existence of the privacy paradox regarding the use of social media privacy settings. And the implication intention did positively mediate the relationship between intention and behavior in the context of social media privacy settings. To the best of our knowledge, our study is the first in the information privacy literature to introduce the notion of implementation intention which is a much more powerful explanation and prediction of actual behavior than the (behavioral) intention.

A study on continuous use intention of medical information service applications: Application of the Extended Theory of Planned Behavior

  • 본 연구는 의료정보서비스 애플리케이션에 대한 지속적 이용의도에 영향을 미치는 변인들 간의 유의성을 검증하기 위해 ETPB를 기반으로 PLS-SEM을 사용하여 실증적인 연구를 진행하였다. 첫째, 개인적 특성 변수인 친밀감, 사전지식과 인지된 기대편익 변수인 비용절감은 TPB 변수인 태도, 주관적 규범, 인지된 행동통제에 유의한 영향을 미친다는 것이 확인되었다. 둘째, TPB 변수들은 행동의도에 유의한 영향을 미치고 행동의도는 지속적 이용의도에 유의한 영향을 미친다는 것이 확인되었다. 셋째, 친밀감, 사전지식, 비용절감은 의료소비자들의 인식 전환을 기반으로 하는 행동의도의 매개를 통해 지속적 이용의도에 영향을 미친다는 것이 확인되었다. 본 연구는 의료소비자들의 행동의도를 통해 의료정보서비스 애플리케이션에 대한 지속적 이용의도에 미치는 영향을 도출하여 의료소비자들의 행태를 실증적으로 규명하였다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate impacts of e-Commerce traits on intention to use platform extended services based on Value-Attitude-Behavior(VAB) framework as well as the moderating effect of network impact as the current e-Commerce platforms provide more extended services to their customers. Design/methodology/approach The research model was developed based on the literature review and VAB framework in order to empirically investigate impacts of e-Commerce platform characteristics. The survey was conducted in order to test proposed hypotheses. 298 collected responses were analyzed for the structural equational modeling(SEM) with SmartPLS 3.0. Findings Findings show that all proposed hypotheses were supported with exception of responsiveness. Among five constructs represented as e-Commerce platform characteristics, product variety had a highest impact on platform value. In addition, this study confirmed that the variable - network effect - strength the relationship between platform attitude and intention to use extended service.

비대면셀프서비스 이용자의 e-라이프스타일이 키오스크 사용요인과 만족요인에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of e-Lifestyle on the Use Factors and Satisfaction of Self-Service Kiosk)

  • This study was to identify the effects of four types of e-Lifestyle(life-friendly lifestyle, development-oriented lifestyle, sociality-oriented lifestyle, information-oriented lifestyle) on sustainable behavior (usage and satisfaction) of Kiosk service. The study was based on convenience sampling of 222 consumers, who have at least three months experience of kiosk system use. Results showed that all of the four types of e-Lifestyle had not significant effect on ease of use. However, development-oriented lifestyle and sociality-oriented lifestyle had a positive effects on usefulness of Kiosk service. Results also indicated that e-Lifestyle had significant and positive effects on customer satisfaction and recommendation. In particular, life-friendly lifestyle had an effect on customer satisfaction, and sociality-oriented lifestyle and information-oriented lifestyle had statistically significant effects on recommendation. Since e-lifestyle could potentially influence sustainable behavior for using Kiosk, this study investigated the distribution of usage and consumer satisfaction for every lifestyle type, so as to understand the attitudinal and behavioral evaluation as sustainable behavior in the use of kiosk services. These findings allow researchers and marketers to identify the needs and expectations of specific types of kiosk users.

청소년의 정보요구 해결을 위한 스마트폰 어플리케이션 이용행태 (Use of Smartphone Applications for Satisfying Information Needs of Youth)

  • 청소년들의 스마트폰 어플리케이션 이용이 증가함에 따라 이를 정보요구 해결에 활용하는 가능성이 높아졌다. 그렇지만 기존의 정보행태 연구에서는 정보원으로서의 스마트폰 어플리케이션에 대한 논의는 거의 없는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 청소년의 정보요구 해결을 위한 스마트폰 어플리케이션 이용행태를 조사하였다. 중, 고등학교에 재학 중인 학생 114명의 설문을 이용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 학생들은 스마트폰 어플리케이션에 대한 인식 및 이용률이 높았으며, 다양한 정보요구를 정보, 오락, 커뮤니케이션 어플리케이션을 활용하여 해결하고 있었다. 특히 정보요구 영역에 따라 사용하는 어플리케이션 유형의 선호도가 다른 것으로 나타났다. 또한 청소년들은 어플리케이션을 선정하는데 있어 무료, 쉬움, 개인정보 정책, 타인의 평가, 품질, 비영리단체, 디자인, 미디어 추천 등을 고려하고 있었다. 본 연구결과의 이론적 가치는 정보원으로서의 스마트폰 어플리케이션의 역할을 확인한 것이며, 실무적으로는 청소년을 위한 정보, 미디어, 모바일 활용능력 교육 프로그램 개발 및 어플리케이션 개선과 개발에 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

보훈환자 시각에서의 처방의약품 사용 행태와 영향요인 (Prescription Drug Use Behavior and Influence Factors in Veteran Patients from the Perspective of Veterans)

  • Objective: This study aimed to explore a veteran patients' behavior of prescribing drug use and of which influencing factors from the veteran patients' perspective through qualitative interviews. Methods: We recruited veteran patients through purposive sampling and interviewed 30 veteran patients aged 20 and over who had been taking prescription drugs. We developed and utilized an interview guide consisting of three themes for data collection. We made verbatim transcripts and analyzed data using the framework analysis. Results: Participants were aware that they had large amounts of prescribing medicines and discarded the medicines. They often used improperly by the person himself or his family or acquaintances. The factors that influenced these inefficient prescription drug usage were grouped into 'factors procuring more drugs than necessary' and 'factors being prescribed more drugs than necessary'. Anxiety about downgrading from the upper class to the lower among reward classes for veterans, and suspicion or dissatisfaction with the veteran policy caused the participants to procure more drugs than necessary. Additionally, they received too many medicines due to long-term prescriptions and lack of communication with their doctors, and poor quality of veteran health services. Conclusion: To improve the medication use behavior of veteran patients, providing information or introducing interventions for the proper medication use is not enough. Efforts should be made to improve their negative recognition over relevant policies and health care services.

대학생들의 웰빙식품 소비행동과 정보요구 (University Students' Consumption Behavior and Informational Needs Concerning Well-Being Foods)

  • The purpose of this study is, first, to identify consumption behavior regarding well-being foods of the present and the future; and second, to discover well-being food-related information consumers require and information sources they use most frequently during the purchase of well-being foods in order to enhance reasonable decision-making and satisfaction during the selection of well-being foods. This study conducted research on university students using questionnaires from March 10 to March 20, 2007, and a total of 323 copies are employed for the final analysis. The key findings include the following. 1. University students answered that they would commit to active well-being food-buying consumer behavior more in the future than the present. 2. They requested information about quality and price from the information concerning well-being foods the most. Also, consumers most wanted to obtain well-being-related information on the Internet. 3. Regarding the needs for well-being food-related information, the more highly they thought of well-being foods, the more they acquired existing well-being-related information. Furthermore, the more they would be active in well-being food consumption behavior in the future, the higher their needs for information were.

Using the theory of planned behavior to determine factors influencing processed foods consumption behavior

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study is to identify how level of information affected intention, using the Theory of Planned Behavior. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The study was conducted survey in diverse community centers and shopping malls in Seoul, which yielded N = 209 datasets. To compare processed foods consumption behavior, we divided samples into two groups based on level of information about food additives (whether respondents felt that information on food additives was sufficient or not). We analyzed differences in attitudes toward food additives and toward purchasing processed foods, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and behavioral intentions to processed foods between sufficient information group and lack information group. RESULTS: The results confirmed that more than 78% of respondents thought information on food additives was insufficient. However, the group who felt information was sufficient had more positive attitudes about consuming processed foods and behavioral intentions than the group who thought information was inadequate. This study found people who consider that they have sufficient information on food additives tend to have more positive attitudes toward processed foods and intention to consume processed foods. CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests increasing needs for nutrition education on the appropriate use of processed foods. Designing useful nutrition education requires a good understanding of factors which influence on processed foods consumption.
