This short survey article examines the current curricula for library and information science education in the U. S. in order to implement them for our professional education in the field in Korea so as to produce qualified and competent graduates. Some of the prevailing trends in education and training for information professionals in the U. S. are as follows: 1. Library schools tend to incorporate information science into library school curricula to reflect their emphasis on this area, and attempt to develop close ties with all segments of the information industry; 2. Library schools actively participate in cooperative research with other agencies to explore ways of solving problems; 3. There is a diversity of education and training programs to meet the needs of a wide variety of information professionals, with library school faculty members being drawn from a wide range of scholarly disciplines; 4. New methods of teaching are being developed to support research and instructional activities; 5. There has been a significant change in the composition of the student body, now given a strong voice in the administration of the library school.

The aim of this study is to examine the research trends of global scientific production of Geospatial Information (GI) papers from 1998 to 2013 by using keyword network analysis. This study constructed keyword network model through papers and keywords related to GI research retrieved from the Web of Science DB and performed keyword network analysis such as Degree Centrality, Betweenness Centrality, and Closeness Centrality. The results show that GI has been steadily applied to various fields, and also the research trends of GI techniques could be quantitatively characterized through keyword network analysis. This study result can be applied to establish the policies and the national R&D planning of geospatial information.

The purpose of this study is investigate the research trend on digital humanities. Previous studies focused on analyzing representative cases and national policies, not overall research trends in the digital humanities field. To this problem, this study intends to identify the intellectual structure of the digital humanities by adopting bibliometric approach. In this study, 1,765 articles retrieved from Web of Science and 514 records from RISS were analyzed to investigate research trends. Structural topic models were applied to examine research topics and to grasp the time-series trend. The results show that humanities-based convergence studies and digitization were main research interests in both side. In Korea, research topics related to cultural contents and storytelling were prominent, while in terms of providing digitized data, library and information science field was one of the important research topic abroad.

In this paper, we examined the research trends and characteristics related to the metaverse in global journals published between 2000 and 2022 from the Web of Science database. The analysis included descriptive statistics, multidimensional scaling, keyword network analysis, and visualization. In addition, semantic network models were constructed, and centrality (betweenness and degree) analysis was performed using R and KH coder in two separate categories based on the trends and aspects of the publication: analysis period 1 (Jan 2000 to Dec 2020) and period 2 (Jan 2021 to Jun 2022). The results showed that the recent global research trends related to the metaverse could be quantitatively characterized using the semantic network analysis. Also, the results could be applied to suggest future research topics in the field of metaverse based on quantitative and empirical data.

The purpose of this study is to examine research trends on theory use in Korean LIS, and ultimately to identify its academic growth and change. This study conducted content analysis, with a sample of 344 articles in Journal of the Korean Society for Library and Information Science during the past five years from 2010 to 2014. Then longitudinal analysis was additionally carried out by comparing with a data set from 1984 to 2003. Findings are as follows. 13.7% of research articles used theories on average 2.02 times. The most theories were deployed at the level of Spot Citing and the next most theories were at the level of Theory Application. Research on the subject of education and information use/seeking used theories most frequently. Theories from LIS were 31.9% and those from social science were 58.3% of all. Also, longitudinal analysis results support the conclusion that there was no quantitative increase but was clear qualitative growth in theoretical research of LIS. And the current theoretical framework of LIS research has closer relationships with pedagogy and psychology among social science disciplines than in the past.

Due to the development of the urban economy, high-density buildings and skyscrapers have continued to increase in order to alleviate high population densities and to make efficient use of urban space. However, a fire in a high-rise building is a disaster that can lead to massive casualties and property damage because of the difficulty of firefighting and escaping. Various studies have been conducted on these high-rise buildings because they are sympathetic to these difficulties all over the world. In this paper, trends of researches and technologies related to fire in high-rise buildings are analyzed synthetically through thesis and patent data. In other words, we explored the trends of various studies that have been carried out so far through the thesis, and performed technical monitoring on actual implemented technology and newly implemented technologies through patent data. Through this research, we have studied the present and the future of technology for high-rise building fire.

This study aims to investigate research trends on disaster safety Information based on the language network analysis methods. To accomplish it, we collected 312 Korean thesis and scholarly articles on disaster safety information published between 2008 and 2017 from RISS (Research Information Sharing Service) site. With the collected data, this study performed the statistical analysis based on bibliographic data. Also, this study performed the analysis of frequency and language network on keyword extracted from titles on the collected scholarly articles and thesis. This study found out that researches recently on Bigdata related to disaster safety information have been rapidly increased. Also, the needs of sharing and utilizing disaster safety information have increased. Also the various types of disaster safety information such as spatial data, real-time information, geographic information has been used for the disaster response.

This study aimed to analyze and collect research trends of archival management standards in Korea. For this purpose, keywords from the titles, author keywords, and abstracts of papers related to records management standards were statistically analyzed to investigate the major keywords with high-frequency. Network analysis with high frequency keywords was also conducted to identify the subject areas of research in archival management standards. The analysis period is from 2000 to the present, and a total of 212 papers were collected from domestic academic paper search sites such as RISS and ScienceON. As a result of the analysis, from 2000 to 2010, OAIS for archive design, digital record preservation with OAIS, and analysis on ISO standards were mainly conducted in research areas. From 2011 until now, records management certification and ISAD(G)'s conversion to RiC emerged as new research areas. This study will be expected to be basic data to understand research trends in records management standards in Korea and to be a reference for research on records management standards studies.
