  • Efforts for standardization of medium access control (MAC) protocol in IEEE802.11e have been made to support quality of service (QoS) in IEEE802.11 MAC protocol. Enhanced distributed coordination function (EDCF) of 802.11e MAC protocol is modified to support QoS for packets that have differentiated priority. However, EDCF still has e problem of throughput optimization and priority support. Therefore, we have proposed a scheme called adaptive EDCF for both supporting priority of packets and throughput optimization. We have derived the relation between the number of nodes and contention window size for throughput optimization. Based on the analytic results, we have evaluated the performance of the proposed scheme using OPNET simulations. The simulation results show that using the proposed scheme can Improve the overall throughput regardless of the number of nodes and the decrement of the throughput with increasing the number of nodes can be alleviated. Additionally, we have shown that the adaptive EDCF can support priority of packets more effectively than existing EDCF.

  • Recently, the I/O performance of a single node is rapidly improving due to the advent of high-performance SSD. As a result, the next-generation storage platform based on SSD has received a great deal of attention and such storage platforms are increasingly adopted to commodity servers or data centers that look for the high-bandwidth computation and I/O. However, building all SSD-based storage platform may not be cost-effective because the price per storage capacity is very high as compared to that of HDD. In this paper. we propose a hybrid file management solution, called HyPLVM(Hybrid Priority Logical Volume Manager), which combines the strength of SSD with the desirable aspects of low-price, high-storage capacity HDD. HyPLVM prioritizes the files and directories to be accessed by users, in order to determine the target storage device (SSD/HDD) in which files are allocated, while mitigating the cost of building storage platforms.

  • This study aims to measure the relative importance of trade insurance using AHP developed by Thomas Saaty of Pennsylvania in early 1970s. Moreover, it provides help in the development of a comprehensive strategy of trade insurance. To obtain priority of trade insurance in its functions, this study discovered significance and relative importance of two evaluation standards and four individual evaluation items. Of the two evaluation standards, importance of credit exposure was 63%. It was discovered that it was more important than political means (37%). Of the four individual evaluation items, importance of banking supplementation was 60%. It was more important than credit investigation of overseas traders (40%). Importance of trade promotion policy was 69%, which was more important than removal of anxiety in trade (31%). As a result of comparing priorities of the f tire evaluation items, priority of banking supplementation was 38% followed by trade promotion policy means (26%), credit investigation of overseas traders (25%) and removal of anxiety in trade (12%).

  • WBAN(Wireless Body Area Network) is network to support medical and non-medical services. It is susceptible to loss and delay of data. WBAN is required to satisfy many kinds of demands such as a variety of data rate and a data priority for providing various service. In this paper scheduling algorithm, considering a data priority and transmission delay time, is proposed to improve service quality of WBAN. The proposed algorithm operates by allocating a channel to a flow with longer transmission delay. When a packet, in a queue of herb, is left within a certain period, the packet is assigned a channel and transmitted according to a data priority. Through the comparison with other existing scheduling algorithms, it is confirmed that QoS is improved due to higher arrival probability of medical data and less delay time in the proposed algorithm.

  • IoT (Internet of Things) technology has immense potential in our modern society. Generally when used in a consumer electronics environment, the IoT can continue to work more efficiently than the conventional method of home appliances. In order to use the IOT device's effectively in the environment, we need to determine the relationship between all device's based on their state and priority and compare it to find the suitable device based on the state and priority. In this paper I have done research on Wi-Fi devices in a network environment and I have observed relationships between them. Also I have proposed an algorithm to determine the device status and priority. This determines high-priority devices and they are identified on the basis of the state of the device associated with a particular operation and proceeds further.

  • An analytical method for identifying terrestrial broadcasting coverages is proposed for a terrestrial broadcasting transmission system adopting a hierarchical modulation technique. Bit Error Rates(BERs) are derived for hierarchically modulated non-uniform QAM constellations based on the Q-function analysis in AWGN environments. The derived BERs depend on the hierarchical modulation factor ${\alpha}$(HMF) and could be mapped to the broadcasting coverages according to the link budget analysis based on the log-distance path loss model. Finally the broadcasting coverage ratios for high priority(HP) streams and low priority(LP) streams are calculated and presented for the determination of the HMF.

  • In this paper, the performances of bandwidth allocation strategies for wideband ISDN have been studied through the computer simulation. In general, the performance of multichannel bandwidth allocation method is superior to that of single channel bandwidth allocation method with respect to the throughtput, delay and blocking probability. Also, when the FIFO service scheme is used, it is shown that the throughput, delay characteristics and blocking probability for each traffic are almost similar. On the other hand, the priority service scheme being used, the performances of traffic with high priority are much better than that of traffic with low priority in the view of throughput, delay and blocking probability. Finally, for the FIFO and priority service disciplines, it can be seen that the multichannel bandwidth allocation method is more suitable than the single channel bandwidth allocation strategy in the case of serving various traffic.

  • This paper presents a spectrum sharing and allocation problem in multiple network operators(NOs). Most of previous works as to dynamic spectrum allocation(DSA) schemes have presented the DSA gain achieved by utilizing the time or regional variations in traffic demand between multi-network operators(NOs). In this paper, we introduce the functionalities required for the entities related with the spectrum sharing and allocation and propose a spectrum allocation algorithm while considering the long-term priority(or fairness) between NOs, the prioritybetween multiple class services, and the urgent bandwidth request. It was shown that the proposed algorithm with priorities between multiple class services could sustain better satisfaction ratio(SR) than the fixed allocation schemes or one without priority under different traffic patterns. Therefore, we conclude that the proposed DSA with priorities between multiple class services and network operators could provide the fairness between service classes of network operators and effective negotiation procedure for urgent bandwidth request by users.

  • VANET is ad-hoc network in which vehicles are treated as node and these nodes are communicating with each other as well as RSUs on the road. In VANET, scheduling is a very important issue as the request data are to be delivered to the recipient vehicle properly and accurately. It is also critical that any request data which is sent to the vehicle is received by it in the time period for which the vehicle will be in range of RSU. RSU picks the one with the highest priority to serve based on the scheduling scheme. In this paper, we propose a scheduling algorithm to select the one with the highest priority in RSU, in which an RSU can transfer the overload requests to other RSUs. We use the modified DBP scheme to calculate the priority of request data. Simulation results show that our scheme outperforms other scheduling schemes under various conditions.
