  • A new location model, where the demand varies by periods, and the facility at each period can be open or closed depending on the demand, is discussed in this paper. General facility location problem is extended with the assumption that demands per period vary. A mixed integer programming is suggested and the solution is found for various instances which are randomly generated. Instances included various cases with respect to the length of periods, moving distance of customer locations, and cost structure. The characteristics of optimal solutions are analyzed for various cases, and it is shown that demand changing location model can be applied in a practical fields of supply chains.

  • The rare metals, used for semiconductors, PDP-LCS and other specialized metal areas necessarily, has been playing a key role for the Korean economic development. Rare metals are influenced by exogenous variables, such as production quantity, price and supplied areas. Nowadays the supply base of rare metals is threatened by the sudden increase in price. For the stable supply of rare metals, a rational demand outlook is needed. In this study, focusing on the domestic demand for chromium, the uncertainty and probability materializing from demand and price is analyzed, further, a demand forecast model, which takes into account various exogenous variables, is suggested, differing from the previously static model. Also, through the OOS(out-of-sampling) method, comparing to the preexistence ARIMA model, ARMAX model, multiple regression analysis model and ECM(Error Correction Mode) model, we will verify the superiority of suggested model in this study.

  • The cooperation between universities and IT industry in producing IT manpower of quality is urgently called for to create the effective labor pool of supply and finally balance its supply and demand. Korean Government launched a program where industrial demand-driven curriculums are developed and applied to universities. This paper proposes a design technique of meta-modeling demand-driven curriculums and courses, based on the 3D software space and the software development process. This technique is proven to result in extensibility, flexibility and quality improvement in software design. Therefore, we expect that the proposed technique makes curriculums and courses possible to be continuously improved in many aspects.

  • Colleges have been forced to take non-face-to-face classes this year due to the COVID-19, and the situation is expected to continue unless the development of treatments and vaccines is carried out as soon as possible. In the situation where non-face-to-face classes are required under compulsion, two methodologies have been suggested as most representative alternatives to face-to-face classes: online real-time classes and on-demand contents classes. The purpose of this study is to compare the perceived convenience, self-fidelity, and preference of students between online real-time and on-demand contents classes by gender, school year grade, mostly using class media, and number of courses taken. Comparative results between online real-time and on-demand contents classes were statistically analyzed by surveying students at a university.

  • The collaboration between businesses in a demand chain has three layers: Integration, Exchange, and Synchronize. The latter the layer is, the stronger the collaboration gets. This paper investigated drivers influencing intelligent demand chain integration strategy (supply integration, demand integration, demand chain integration) in Korea manufacturing and services. The drivers are classified into two types: rational efficiency driven and bandwagon driven. We find tile differences in the characteristics of drivers affecting the strategies. Besides, this study suggests the better integration strategy for Korea firms. In conclusion it says that demand integration strategy is chosen to improve efficiency, whereas supply integration strategy is influenced by external pressure.

  • Next Generation Digital Maps on demand Updating System is a system for setup of efficient on-demand updating system, keeping up-to-date data and conducting high-quality service and efficient management. The system is designed that object-based continuous Digital Maps may have on-demand updating available, as well as the exiting feature-based digital maps, and the relevant development is being done. This study presented some problems and improvement plans related to the system operation, by means of implementing object-based continuous Digital Maps and feature-based digital maps updating test, for the next generation digital maps on demand updating system, in order to contribute to present plans to apply next generation digital maps and to secure competitiveness. And, for the economical efficiency of the next generation digital maps on demand updating system, this study analyzed expenses and benefit resulted from introduction of on demand updating system for 1:5,000 digital maps, intended for National Geographic Information Institute. and the land category which have an effect on the officially assessed land price and it using GIS technology.

  • The service strategy of the public library needs to be established based on the users who are the actual beneficiaries of the services, including the perspective of changes in the social environment. This study investigated and analyzed the users' perceptions of the library functions and services currently provided and the demand for future services, targeting public library users in the Busan area. The data were collected through a questionnaire, and the respondents were 733 public library users in Busan. The main result is that first, the role and function of the public library that Busan users consider most important was still in material collection and provision. Second, in the information service type, the demand for cultural/lifelong learning program service was the highest, and in the service program, the demand for new IT technology experience and education was the highest. Third, as a result of ISA analysis of information service type, material provision service and information literacy education service were types to be maintained, and reading related service was type to be managed intensively. Fourth, in the analysis of service demand by age, those aged 41 to 50 years old were the generation with the highest demand in all types except for the information literacy education service type, and the demand for information literacy education was the highest among the elderly generation over 61 years old. And the user group in the western part of Busan was higher than the user group in other regions in demand for almost all service types. The results of this study can be used as basic data when establishing strategies to optimize community public library services for users.

  • An inventory with constant demand is studied. We adopt a renewal argument to obtain the transient and stationary distribution of the level of the inventory. We show that the stationary distribution can be also derived by making use of either the level crossing technique or the renewal reward theorem. After assigning several managing costs to the inventory, we calculate the long-run average cost per unit time. A numerical example is illustrated to show how we optimize the inventory.
