This study aims to analyze the current status of library automation systems and explore future directions for improvement. The study was conducted by surveying librarians at institutions participating in the KESLI and KCUE consortia to investigate the current status and satisfaction with library automation systems, and the current status and awareness of open source-based library automation systems. The study found that most automation systems currently in use in libraries were developed through outsourcing in the 2000s or 2010s, and that more than 50% of respondents were satisfied with the overall library automation system. Overall satisfaction was found to be influenced by satisfaction with the functionality, customer support services and construction and operational management of the system. Most current library automation systems are not based on open source software or cloud services, but the intention to use them in the future is high, with more than 40% of respondents saying they would use them within three years. This study is expected to serve as an important foundation for building an open source-based library automation system in the future.

The purpose of this study is to discuss about the current status and problems of 24 public libraries in Daejeon metropolitan city and to suggest strategies for the development of public library system in Daejeon. For this purpose, first, this study investigates facilities, human resources, collection, and budget in public libraries in Daejeon metropolitan city and compares to the standards in "The Third Comprehensive Library Advancement Plan(2019-2023)", "The library Act" and "Korean Library Standards". Secondly, this study analyzes administrative organization system. Finally, suggested are both strategies and methods for continuous construction of new public libraries, librarian recruit, collection increase, better service for older adults, budget increase, organization exclusively responsible for library policy.

This study suggests basic principals and requirements for future development of children's library classification scheme Until now there is no standardized children's library classification system, thereby librarians as well as library users have to go through many troubles. Therefore this study researched current conditions of children's libraries In Korea and analyzed the types and characteristics of children's books. This study reviewed children's book classification systems and how these systems are being used in three different library system: public and Inpyo Children's Library, Miracle Library, and private children's libraries. This study conducted in-depth research on two notable children's book classification systems of Neutinamu Children's Library and Parangsae Children's Library. This study suggests basic principals and requirements for children's library classification scheme, based on researches described above.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the administrative system and legislation of Canada's libraries with priority given to public library. Canada is a constitutional monarchy, a federal state and parliamentary democracy with 10 provinces and 3 territories and two systems of law(civil law and common law). There are about 1,045 public libraries in total and its governance and legislation is a provincial responsibility. For that reason. federal government did not legislate on public libraries and library act is the provincial public library statute authorizing the establishment and operation of public libraries and their management by boards. In Canada. each provincial library act provides for four types of public libraries : municipal libraries, regional libraries, districts libraries, and integrated public library systems.

It's desirable to implement the network of school libraries based on the department of city or regional education. The digital library supporting center is an integrated information system implemented by the department of city or regional education for supporting school libraries. Busan Metropolitan Department of Education for the first time implemented a digital library supporting center, supported by digital libraries & the digital library supporting center project proceeded by the Department of Education and KERIS. This study at first is to present basic technologies applied in implementing a digital library supporting center and foreign country cases, and then to introduce information system of Busan Metropolitan Department of Education.

KORMARC used in library bibliographic information, had been pointed several weaknesses such as inflexibility lack of link information and compatibility. In addition, a sudden increase in digital information associated with development of internet is demanding an integration of web resources metadata as the resource of library information. This study mentioned XML/KORMARC system or adaption of XML standard format turned out to be the most efficient way to use KORMARC formats and to expand the range of those information service such as bibliographic information, factual information, referral information and full-text.

The purpose of the study is to understand the research trends in the hypertext information retrieval. Around 30 related papers were investigated, from which three distinctive streams of research trends are grasped: 1) a trend of incorporating the traditional retrieval models, especially the query-based searching model into the hypermedia system. 2) a trend of a n.0, pplying the hypermedia system as an interface to the OPAC system, 3) a trend of incorporating the artificial intelligence techniques into the hypermedia techniques. The research on the hypermedia is going on, and the research directions will be increasingly intend to incorporate the traditional retrieval models and artificial intelligence techniques into the hypermedia system.

According to Wayne A. Wiegand in the 1998, he research to The "Amherst Method": The Origins of the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. Although a debate about the origins of the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme has been going on for generations, historical consensus remains elusive. This paper contributes information to the historiography on the origins of the scheme: 1) by grounding an account of Dewey's thinking as he was crafting the DDC on an analysis of a large body of sources than previous classification historians have consulted; and 2) by expanding and deepening historical understanding of the contextual forces influencing on the classification structure. Because the DDC idea as it first occurred to M. Dewey in Amherst in 1872-73 is an important in the history of library development in the world. He outlined the first draft of his decimal scheme and submitted it to the Amherst College Library Committee on 8 May 1873. This paper analysis to "Three Genetic Paper", that is 1) The Merits of the System, 2) Library Classification System, 3) Its Special Adaption to our Library.

This study seeks to develop a curriculum operating model for Korean Library and Information Science, based on investigations into LIS curricula at home and abroad. Standard courses that can be applied to this model were also proposed. This study comprehensively analyzed the contents of domestic and foreign curricula and surveyed current librarians in all types of library fields. As a result, this study proposed required courses, core courses, and elective courses. Six required LIS courses are: Introduction to Library and Information Science, Information Organization, Information Services, Library and Information Center Management, Information Retrieval, and Field Work. Six core LIS courses are: Classification & Cataloging Practice, Subject Information Resources, Collection Development, Digital Library, Introduction to Bibliography, and Introduction to Archive Management. Objective: We propose to apply color information to facilitate finding books in the library. Background: Currently, books are classified in the basis of a decimal classification system and a call number in the library. Users find a book using the call number. However, this classification system causes various difficulties. Method: In a process analysis and survey study, we identify what the real problem is and where the problem is occurred. To solve the real problems, we derived a new search method using color information. We conducted a comparative experiment with 48 participants to see whether the new method can show higher performance. Results: The new method using color information showed faster time and higher subjective rating scores than current call number method. Also, the new method showed faster time regardless of the skill level while the call number method showed time differences in terms of the skill level. Conclusion: The effectiveness of the proposed method was verified by experiments. Users will be able to find the desired book without difficulty. This method can improve the quality of service and satisfaction of library use. Application: Our book search method can be applied as a book search tool in a real public library. We hope that the method can provide higher satisfaction to users.
