  • The various research on Communities of practices (CoP) for propagation of softer type knowledge in new Knowledge Management (KM) strategy having been performed for past couple of years. CoP is one of effective process innovation tool for diffusion of knowledge. Based on CoP's voluntary and spontaneous characteristic, it performs a function of delivering softer type knowledge of workers to the other colleagues of organization. But one step further to CoP's function of propagation of internal knowledge, research on function of CoP's contribution in enterprise strategy are insufficient yet. This paper presents enterprise CoP should be managed and aligned to strategic objectives of enterprise, and also, suggests the methodology for CoPs to maintain a lifecycle as a tool to contribute in strategic goal attainment. Although CoPs are voluntary and spontaneous informal organization, it can display a contribution as tool for KM strategy when it is aligned to strategy properly and form efficient lifecycle.

  • The importance of communities of practice(CoP) as an organizational informal unit for fostering knowledge transfer and sharing gains a lot of attention from KM researchers and practitioners. Since most of CoPs are formulated online these days, the credibility or trustworthiness of knowledge contents circulated within a certain CoP should be considered thoroughly for them to be fully utilized safely. Here comes the need for an appropriate trust measuring methodology to determine the true value of knowledge given by unknown people through an online channel. In this paper, an improved trust measuring method is proposed using new trust variables such as level of degrees derived from the relationships among community users. In addition, activeness, relevance, and usefulness of the knowledge contents themselves, which are calculated automatically using a text categorization technique, are also used for trust measurement. The proposed framework incorporates fuzzy set and calculation concepts to help build trust matrices and models, which are used to measure the level of trust involved in specific knowledge artifacts concerned.

  • This study proposes University 2.0 as a model case of open, flexible, and distributed learning environment for higher education based on theoretical foundations and perspectives. As web 2.0 technologies emerge into the field of education, ways of generating and disseminating information and knowledge have been drastically changed. Professors are no longer the only source of knowledge. Students using internet often become prosumers of knowledge who search and access information through the web as well as publish their own knowledge using the web. A concept and framework of University 2.0 is introduced for implementing the new interactive learning paradigm with an open, flexible and distributed learning environment for higher education. University 2.0 incorporates online and offline learning environments with various educational media. Furthermore, it employs various learning strategies and integrates formal and informal learning through learning communities. Both instructors and students in University 2.0 environment are expected to be active knowledge generators as well as creative designers of their own learning and teaching.

  • There are informal, semi-formal and formal methods in software specification. Among them, formal method which is based on mathematical theory had been used to remove ambiguity, incompleteness and contradiction efficiently. In this paper, we propose implementation steps from Z specification to EJB source code, Also, as a case study we show steps consisted of specifying stack data structure and implementing it in EJB. In conclusion, Z specification proved to be capable of implementing EJB interface, exception class, method, through refinement and definition of schema, interface, post-condition, pre-condition.

  • Due to advance in Internet technology, most tourists tend to search travel information in the Online Travel Communities(OTC). Given this new paradigm in terms of finding travel information, most of relevant studies in this area are still dealt with explaining tourists' behaviors regardless of the types of communications. Therefore, to overcome some limitations in previous studies, we attempt to examine the relationships between both formal and informal communications and tourists' behavioral changes in the OTC context. Specifically, we developed a research model by employing the PPM(push-pull-mooring) framework and tested it to understand why and how tourists' behaviors might be changed. Survey data collected from 323 online tourists were used to test the model the model using SEM(structural equation modeling). The implications of our empirical findings for both research and practice are discussed.

  • Reddit is a large user generated content (USG) website in which users form common interest groups and submit links to external content or text posts of user-created content. The web site operates on a voting system whereby registered users can assign positive or negative ratings to both submitted content and comments made to submitted content. While Reddit is a pseudonymous site, with users creating usernames but providing no biographical data, an informal survey posted to a large shared interest community yielded 734 responses including age and gender of users. This provided a large amount of contextual biographical data with which to analyse user profiles at the first level of Computer Mediated Discourse Analysis (CMDA), articulated by Susan Herring. The results indicate that older Reddit users both formulate more complex writing and enjoy more success when rated by other users. Gender data was incomplete and as such only tentative results could be proposed in that regard.

  • In this study, we propose two informal hypothesis tests which may be useful in determining the number of trees in a random forest for use in classification. The first test declares that a case is 'easy' if the hypothesis of the equality of probabilities of two most popular classes is rejected. The second test declares that a case is 'hard' if the hypothesis that the relative difference or the margin of victory between the probabilities of two most popular classes is greater than or equal to some small number, say 0.05, is rejected. We propose to continue generating trees until all (or all but a small fraction) of the training cases are declared easy or hard. The advantage of combining the second test along with the first test is that the number of trees required to stop becomes much smaller than the first test only, where all (or all but a small fraction) of the training cases should be declared easy.

  • Recently there has been growing interest in big data analysis and methods for collecting data have been developed diversely but researchers are still not easy to collect and use these large scale data. In this paper, researchers try to compare and analyze the method of collecting big data by using several methods and present it. I hope that you can provide the results of your research if you select and use methods that match your research objectives.

  • HRTF DB, including the information of the sounds which is arrived to our ears, is generally used to make a 3D sound. But it can decline some three-dimensional effects by the confusion between front and back directions due to the non-individual HRTF depending on each listener. In this paper, we propose a new method to use psychoacoustic theory that reduces the confusion of sound image localization. And we make use of an excitation energy by the sense of hearing. This method is brought HRTF spectrum characteristics into relief to draw out the energy ratio about the bark band and control low frequency band. Informal listening tests show that the proposed method improves the front-back sound localization characteristics much better than the conventional methods.

  • Usability is playing a more important, role in interactive products or systems (e. g,, information technology Products, computer software) development, and it has become a primary factor in determining the acceptability and consequent success of the products. This study investigates some different techniques and methods to evaluate the usability of the interactive products or system . Various evaluation methods have been tried ranging from formal to informal and empirical techniques. The classification of the usability evaluation methods(UEMs) and comparisons between these evaluation methods are presented. Some issues raised by the UEMs are also discussed. In addition, problems of selecting appropriate usability evaluation methods are discussed.
