Analysis of Electrochemical Properties of Sulfide All-Solid-State Lithium Ion Battery Anode Material Using Amorphous Carbon-Removed Graphite (비정질 탄소가 제거된 흑연을 이용한 황화물계 전고체 리튬이온전지 음극소재 전기화학적 특성 분석)

  • Graphite has been used as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries for the past 30 years due to its low de-/lithiation voltage, high theoretical capacity of 372 mAh/g, low price, and long life properties. Recently, all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries (ASSLB), which are composed of inorganic solid materials with high stability, have received great attention as electric vehicles and next-generation energy storage devices, but research works on graphite that works well for ASSLB systems are insufficient. Therefore, we induced the performance improvement of ASSLB anode electrode graphite material by removing the amorphous carbon present in the carbon material surface, acting as a resistive layer from the graphite. As a result of X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis using heat treated graphite in air at 400, 500, and 600 ℃, the full width at half maximum (FWHM) at (002) peak was reduced compared to that of bare graphite, indicating that the crystallinity of graphite was improved after heat treatment. In addition, the discharge capacity, initial coulombic efficiency (ICE) and cycle stability increased as the crystallinity of graphite increased after heat treatment. In the case of graphite annealed in air at 500 ℃, the high capacity retention rate of 331.1 mAh/g and ICE of 86.2% and capacity retention of 92.7% after 10-cycle measurement were shown.

  • Ground, sea and air mobility, such as vehicles, ships, and airplanes, are generally operated by people. Based on the innovative development of autonomous decision-making systems and artificial intelligence (AI) following the recent fourth industrial revolution, research and development on maritime autonomous surface ships (MASS) is been actively performed around the world. Before the realization of the commercialization of MASS in international maritime transport, it is urgent to clarify the characteristics of this ship and its international legal status. This paper aims to analyze the concern of whether a ship without crew members will eventually be operated as a fully unmanned ship or can be recognized as a ship under international law as the number of crew members is gradually reduced owing to the development stage of autonomous ships. Consequently, based on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), it was found that MASS has the same international legal status as general ships. In addition this paper presents the working principles of enacting and revising the IMO Conventions and international legal measures necessary for the safe operation of MASS.

Improved Estimation of Hourly Surface Ozone Concentrations using Stacking Ensemble-based Spatial Interpolation (스태킹 앙상블 모델을 이용한 시간별 지상 오존 공간내삽 정확도 향상)

  • Surface ozone is produced by photochemical reactions of nitrogen oxides(NOx) and volatile organic compounds(VOCs) emitted from vehicles and industrial sites, adversely affecting vegetation and the human body. In South Korea, ozone is monitored in real-time at stations(i.e., point measurements), but it is difficult to monitor and analyze its continuous spatial distribution. In this study, surface ozone concentrations were interpolated to have a spatial resolution of 1.5km every hour using the stacking ensemble technique, followed by a 5-fold cross-validation. Base models for the stacking ensemble were cokriging, multi-linear regression(MLR), random forest(RF), and support vector regression(SVR), while MLR was used as the meta model, having all base model results as additional input variables. The results showed that the stacking ensemble model yielded the better performance than the individual base models, resulting in an averaged R of 0.76 and RMSE of 0.0065ppm during the study period of 2020. The surface ozone concentration distribution generated by the stacking ensemble model had a wider range with a spatial pattern similar with terrain and urbanization variables, compared to those by the base models. Not only should the proposed model be capable of producing the hourly spatial distribution of ozone, but it should also be highly applicable for calculating the daily maximum 8-hour ozone concentrations.

Analysis of domestic and foreign future automobile research trends based on topic modeling (토픽모델링 기반의 국내외 미래 자동차 연구동향 비교 분석: CASE 키워드 중심으로)

  • After industrialization in the past, the automobile industry has continued to grow centered on internal combustion engines, but is facing a major change with the recent 4th industrial revolution. Most companies are preparing for the transition to electric vehicles and autonomous driving. Therefore, in this study, topic modeling was performed based on LDA algorithm by collecting 4,002 domestic papers and 68,372 overseas papers that contain keywords related to CASE (Connectivity, Autonomous, Sharing, Electrification), which represent future automobile trends. As a result of the analysis, it was found that domestic research mainly focuses on macroscopic aspects such as traffic infrastructure, urban traffic efficiency, and traffic policy. Through this, the government's technical support for MaaS (Mobility-as-a-Service) is required in the domestic shared car sector, and the need for data opening by means of transportation was presented. It is judged that these analysis results can be used as basic data for the future automobile industry.

Synthesis of LiDAR-reflective Hollow-structured Black Materials and Recycling of Their Etched Waste for Semiconductor Epoxy Molding Compound (라이다 반사형 중공구조 검은색 물질의 개발 및 코어 에칭 폐액 재활용을 통한 반도체용 에폭시 몰딩 컴파운드 응용)

  • In this study, LiDAR-reflective black hollow-structured silica/titania(B-HST) materials are successfully synthesized by employing the NaBH4 reduction and etching method on silica/titania core/shell(STCS) materials, which also effectively enhance near-infrared(NIR) reflectance. Moreover, core-etched supernatant solutions are collected and recycled for the synthesis of extracted silica(e-SiO2) process, which successfully applies as filler materials for semiconductor epoxy molding compound(EMC). In detail, B-HST materials, fabricated by the sequential experimental steps of sol-gel, reduction, and sonication-mediated etching method, manifest blackness(L*) of 13.2 similar to black paint and excellent NIR reflectance(31.1%). Consequently, B-HST materials are successfully prepared as LiDAR-reflective black materials. Additionally, core-etched supernatant solution with silanol precursors are employed for synthesis of homogeneous silica filler materials via sol-gel method. As-synthesized silica fillers are incorporated with epoxy resin and carbon black for the preparation of semiconductor EMC. Experimentally synthesized EMC exhibits comparable mechanical-chemical properties to commercial EMC. Conclusively, this study successfully proposes designing procedure and practical experimental method for simultaneously synthesizing the NIR-reflective black materials for self-driving vehicles and EMC materials for semiconductors, which are materials suitable for the industrial 4.0 era, and presented their applicability in future industries.

System Architecture of the Integrated Data Safety Zone for the Secured Application of Transportation-specific Mobility Data (교통 분야 모빌리티 데이터의 안전한 활용을 위한 통합데이터안심구역 시스템 아키텍처 개발)

  • With the recent advancement of 4th Industrial Revolution technology, transportation systems are generating large amounts of mobility data related to the individual movement trajectories of vehicles and people. There are many constraints on utilizing mobility data containing personal information. Thus, in South Korea, the processing and generation of pseudonymized information and the analysis and utilization of this information have been managed in a dual manner by applying separate agencies and technologies through the revision of the Data 3 Act and the enactment of the Data Basic Act. However, this dual approach fails to securely support the entire data lifecycle and suffers from inefficiencies in terms of processing time and cost. Therefore, to compensate for the problems of the existing Expert Data Combination System and Data Safety Zone, this study proposes an Integrated Data Safety Zone Framework that integrates and unifies the process of generating, processing, analyzing, and utilizing mobility data. The integrated process for data processing was redesigned, and common requirements and core technologies were derived. The result is an architecture for a next-generation Integrated Data Safety Zone system that can manage and utilize the entire life cycle of mobility data at one stop.

Location Classification and Its Utilization for Illegal Parking Enforcement: Focusing on the Case of Gyeonggi (불법주정차 단속을 위한 지역(장소) 분류 및 활용 방안: 경기도를 중심으로)

  • Due to economic development and increasing gross national income, the number of automobiles continues to rise, leading to a serious issue of illegal parking due to limited road conditions and insufficient parking facilities. Illegal parking causes significant inconvenience and displeasure to people and can even result in accidents and loss of lives. The severity of accidents and their consequences, related to the growing number of vehicles and illegal parking, is escalating, particularly in the metropolitan areas. Consequently, efforts are being made to address this problem as a cause of social issues and come up with measures to reduce illegal parking. In particular, half of the public complaints in the metropolitan area are related to illegal parking, and the highest physical and human damage occurs in Gyeonggi. Thus, this study aims to use machine learning techniques based on data related to illegal parking in Suwon city, Gyeonggi, to categorize regional characteristics and propose effective measures to crack down on illegal parking. Additionally, practical, social, policy, and legal measures to decrease illegal parking in the metropolitan area are suggested. This study has academic significance in that it solved the problem of illegal parking, which is mentioned as one of the social problems that cause traffic congestion, by classifying regional characteristics using K-prototype, a machine learning algorithm. Furthermore, the results of this study contribute to practical and social aspects by providing measures to decrease illegal parking in the metropolitan area.

Analysis of characteristics of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients by region in Chungcheong buk-do (충청북도 내 지역별 병원 전 심장정지 환자의 특성에 대한 분석)

  • Chungbuk has various regional characteristics in terms of population composition by region, industrial facilities, and distribution of emergency medical institutions. However, there are no studies yet that have analyzed regional characteristic factors related to the occurrence characteristics of cardiac arrest patients. Therefore, this study provided basic data to establish a response system for OHCA patients suitable for the characteristics of the Chungcheongbuk-do region by analyzing the characteristics of OHCA patients and the transfer status of 119 paramedics in Chungcheongbuk-do. This study is a retrospective study that analyzed 1,188 cardiac arrest patients transferred by ambulance based on raw data from the survey on acute cardiac arrest in Chungbuk (2020). There are a total of 11 emergency medical institutions in Chungbuk-do, which are concentrated in city-level areas, so the transfer time of patients to hospitals in county-level areas was delayed. In the county-level area, the frequency of dispatch of special paramedics was relatively small, and the frequency of administration of cardiac arrest drugs to help resuscitate cardiac arrest patients was also low. In conclusion, efforts should be made to improve accessibility of emergency medical services (deployment of emergency vehicles in marginal areas, proper placement of emergency medical institutions, etc.), to promote prevention of traumatic cardiac arrest patients, and to expand the scope of work to strengthen the first aid expertise of paramedics.

  • Currently, lithium secondary batteries have been used as medium- or large-sized energy sources such as electric vehicles and energy storage system (ESS) due to their high energy and eco-friendly characteristics. Currently commercialized lithium secondary batteries do not fully meet the demands for high energy density and safety. Many studies on solid electrolytes are being conducted to satisfy these requirements. In order to commercialize a solid electrolyte, it is important to supplement the low ion conductivity and high interface resistance with an electrode compared to the organic liquid electrolyte. Therefore, in this study, oligo(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT)) is added to poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), which is a polymer matrix with ion conductivity and sticky characteristics, to decrease the interfacial resistance with the same type of polythiophene (PTh)-based electrode. In addition, the addition of porous silicon dioxide (SiO2) filler improves lithium salt dissociation ability and increases ionic conductivity. And the electrochemical stability of the solid electrolyte, which has been lowered due to additives, is improved by introducing a cross-linked structure using boric acid (BA).

Comparative Analysis of Particulate Matter, Black Carbon, and Noise Levels Before and After Installation of a Safety Wall in a Pedestrian Walkway within an Urban Tunnel (도심터널 보행로 안전벽 설치 전후의 미세먼지, 블랙카본, 소음 수준 비교)

  • Objectives: People using pedestrian walkways within tunnels may be exposed to environmental hazards that can have adverse effects on their health. This study aimed to measure changes in the levels of particulate matter (PM10), black carbon (BC), and noise after the installation of safety walls on pedestrian walkways within tunnels. Methods: Measurements were taken at the entrances on both sides of a tunnel and at the central point, both before and after the installation of pedestrian safety walls. Additionally, measurements were conducted by distinguishing between non-rush hour and rush hour periods to account for variations in the number of vehicles using the tunnel. A SidePak was used for PM10 measurements, an aethalometer for BC, and a sound level meter for noise. Results: PM10 showed the highest concentrations at the center of the tunnel at both pre- and post-installation of safety walls, as well as during rush hour periods. After the installation, the concentration at the center was 31.09 ± 14.02 ㎍/m3 (19.44 ± 8.02% increase). During rush hour, BC concentration reached 2.28 ± 1.55 ㎍/m3, indicating a 26.71 ± 13.19% increase compared to non-rush hour. As for noise, installation of safety walls reduced noise levels about 3 - 6 dB (8.10 ± 3.31% decrease). Conclusions: It was confirmed that installing safety walls on pedestrian walkways within the tunnel can reduce noise levels. However, the interior of a tunnel is a poorly ventilated environment, and exposure levels vary depending on the length of the tunnel. Therefore, the development of safety measures related to this issue is warranted, and further research on harmful substances within the tunnel should be conducted.
