The Effects of the Electronic Health Record System on Work Overload and Stress Moderation of Hospital Employees

  • Purpose - In endless competition, companies pursue cost reduction and work efficiency. So, entrepreneurs try to increase job intensity, which may lead to job stress and high turnovers because of job burnout. But, Information systems are acknowledged as a work support tool that secures work convenience and the productivity of employees. In this study, we aimed to confirm the effects of information systems in reduing the work overload of employees in a human resource intensive industry. Research design, data and methodology - This is based on the job demands-resources model, conducting an empirical analysis of surveys given to hospital employees working in a human resource intensive industry. Results - The research revealed that information systems reduced the work overload of employees in a human resource intensive industry. Conclusion - This study confirmed the effects of information systems as a job resource based on JD-R theory, and presentation of empirical results indicated that information systems alleviate employee job overload and increases job satisfaction in the medical services industry. In the medical services industry, using electronic health record system decreases in work overload, which results in employees gaining time for self-development and time management, reducing job stress, and leading to job satisfaction.

The Impact of Value Inclination of SME Members on Organizational Citizenship Behavior: Focusing on the Role of Job Satisfaction and Perceived Organizational Support

  • Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to find out a range of cues that trigger employees to willingly make efforts for corporate development in small and medium enterprises. This was determined by assessing the effects of employees' value inclination on their job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior as well as how they perceived their organizational support. Research design, data, and methodology - A total of 126 valid questionnaire sheets collected from SME employees were analyzed with SPSS 24.0 and AMOS 24.0 involving simple regression analysis, multiple regression analysis, hierarchical moderated regression analysis and 3-step mediated regression analysis. Results - The analyses highlighted employees' personal value inclination had positive effects on their job satisfaction, which in turn enhanced their organizational citizenship behavior. Meanwhile, individualist and collectivist inclination exerted greater effects on job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior, respectively. The study also revealed that perceived organizational support moderated the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior. Conclusion - Hence, CEOs in SMEs should avert any dichotomous analysis of their employees' value inclination, respect their personal value inclinations and also apply factors that could raise their job satisfaction. Likewise, it was shown that SME employees need to make personal efforts for organizational development.

The Meaningful Relationship between Employee Reading Habits and Innovation Competency

  • Purpose: Strategic management research and findings are usually not focused on dealing with concrete instruments for measuring individual competencies. The presence of traditional human resources management instruments, which include the aspects of job analysis, selection training, and even development, has been used frequently for many years in organizations. This study aims to investigate the relationship between employee reading habits and their innovativeness. Research design, data and methodology: The research methodology applied in this case is qualitative research methods. It is a method that involves the collection of data from non-numerical formats. The technique helped in understanding the relationship that exists between the reading habits of the employees and the competencies of innovation. Results: The present researchers figured out the meaningful connection between the independent variable (Reading Habit and dependent variable (Innovative Competency), explaining 'The Reason Why Employees Should Read More Books' and 'How Organizations Promote the Reading Habits of Employees'. Conclusions: It is clear that with reading habits among employees, innovation is easily achieved since these employees know their goals, how to achieve these objectives and overcome any challenge that might hinder innovation. Organizational management should work towards fostering positive reading cultures among employees in organizations.

The Effect of Job Stress of Beauty Industry Employees on Turnover Intention

  • Purpose: Employees in the beauty industry, where emotional labor is essential, are exhausted due to stress from excessive working hours and low pay, and ultimately consider changing jobs. This study analyzed the structural relationship of turnover intention according to job stress of beauty industry employees. We tried to present implications by verifying the methods necessary for conflict management in the beauty industry from an empirical point of view. Research design, data and methodology: This study selected 518 workers in the beauty industry as a sample. Frequency analysis, validity and reliability analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were performed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) WIN23.0. Results: The moderating effect of work experience, a moderating variable, was found to be significant in the effect of job stress of beauty industry employees following changes in the employment environment on the dependent variable, turnover intention. Conclusion: This study revealed that changes in the employment environment negatively affect the job stress of beauty workers. To reduce the job stress of employees in the beauty industry, a systematic response at the organizational level will be necessary. In addition, it is expected that it will help establish differentiated strategies such as compensation system, service training, and service management to reduce job stress.

Linking Perceived Organizational and Supervisor Support to Turnover Intention and Organizational Citizenship Behavior for Thai: The Mediating Role of Organizational Commitment

  • This study deals how employees' perceptions of being supported by their organizations and supervisors may lead to organizational commitment and this commitment affects turnover intention and organizational citizenship behavior in the context of Thai industrial firms. The sample consists of Thai employees working in manufacturing firms which Koreans operate in Thailand. In line with social exchange theory, this study indicated that employees who felt that their organizations and supervisors valued their contribution and cared about their well-being would be more likely to have lower level of turnover intention and higher level of organizational citizenship behavior. Moreover, it was found affective and normative commitment partially mediated the effect of perceived organizational and supervisor support on organizational citizenship behavior. This study enhances our understanding about the roles of organizational commitment in the Thai workplace, and provides some practical implications how to manage Thai employees.

ARIMA모델에 의한 피용자(被傭者) 의료보험(醫療保險) 수진율(受診率), 건당진료비(件當診療費) 및 건당진료일수(件當診療日數)의 추이(推移)와 예측(豫測) (Trend and Forecast of the Medical Care Utilization Rate, the Medical Expense per Case and the Treatment Days per Cage in Medical Insurance Program for Employees by ARIMA Model)

  • 공무원 및 사립학교교직원 의료보험과 직장의료보험에서 입원, 외래별 수진을, 건당진료비 (1985년 기준 불변가격), 건당진료일수 등의 장래예측을 통해 의료보험 진료비 안정화 방안을 마련하는데 기초자료로 제시하기 위하여, 이들의 $1979{\sim}89$년간 월별 통계자료를 이용, Box-Jenkins model인 ARIMA 모델을 적용하여 1994년 까지의 수진을, 건당진료비 및 건당진료일수를 예측한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 수진을, 건당진료비 및 건당진료일수의 ARIMA 모형을 제시하면 다음 표와 같다. 상기의 ARIMA 모형을 기초로하여 향후 5년간의 수진율을 예측한 결과, 공교의료보험 입원의 경우, 1989년의 실측치는 0.068건 이었으며, 1990년과 1991년은 0.068건, 1992년과 1993년은 0.069건, 1994년은 0.070건으로 연평균 0.7%정도 증가될 것으로 예측되었으며, 외래의 경우, 1989년의 실측치는 3.487건이었으나 1990년은 3.530건, 1994년은 3.668건으로 연평균 1%정도 증가될 것으로 예측되었다. 직장의료보험 입원의 경우, 1989년의 실측치는 0.063건이었으며, 1990년부터 1994년까지 모두 0.063건으로 안정될 것으로 예측되었으며, 외래의 경우 1989년의 실측치는 2.984건이었으나, 1990년은 3.016건, 1994년은 3.154건으로 연평균 1.1% 정도 증가될 것으로 예측되었다. 건당진료비의 향후 예측치는 12월을 기준으로하여 1985년 불변가격으로 공교의료보험 입원의 경우, 1989년의 실측치는 332,751원이었으나, 1990년은 345,938원, 1994년은 354,511원으로 연평균 0.6%정도 증가될 것으로 예측되었으며, 외래의 경우, 1989년의 실측치는 11,925원이었으나, 1990년은 12,638원, 1994년은 12,904원으로 연평균 0.5%정도 증가될 것으로 예측되었다. 직장의료보험 입원의 경우, 1989년 실측치는 281,835원이었으나, 1990년은 282,524원, 1994년은 293,973원으로 연평균 1%정도 증가될 것으로 예측되었으며, 외래의 경우, 1989년 실측치는 11,599원이었으나, 1990년부터 1994년까지 11,585원으로 안정될 것으로 예측되었다. 건당진료일수의 향후 예측치는 12월을 기준으로 하여 공교의료보험 입원의 경우, 1989년의 실측치는 13.79일이었으며, 1990년은 13.82일, 1993년과 1994년은 13.85일로 거의 안정될 것으로 예측되었으며, 외래의 경우, 1994년까지 5일 정도로 안정될 것으로 예측되었다. 직장의료보험 입원의 경우, 1989년의 실측치는 12.23일이었으나, 1990년은 12.30일, 1994년은 12.85일로 연평균 1.1%정도 증가될 것으로 예측되었으며, 외래의 경우 1989년의 실측치는 4.61일이었으며 1990년부터 1994년까지 4.60일로 안정될 것으로 예측되었다.

조리종사자의 손 씻기 의식과 실천 및 손의 지표미생물 오염도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Hand Washing Awareness and Practices of Food-service Employees and the Load of Index Microorganisms on the Hands)

  • Hand-washing is one of the major factors in personal hygiene and public health. This study was undertaken to investigate the hygienic behavior of food-service employees, focusing on awareness of hand washing, hand washing practices, and the load of index microorganisms (aerobic plate count, total and fecal coliforms, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus) on the hands of food-service employees. A questionnaire survey completed by direct interview, direct observation of restrooms by the researcher and trained observers, and microbiological examination according to the Food Code of Korea were carried out. In the survey, a positive attitude toward hand washing compliance was reported; however, improper hand washing and poor hand hygiene of the food-service employees were seen under direct observation. Significant differences (p<0.05) were found between the questionnaire survey and the direct observations in hand washing compliance after using the toilet, duration of hand washing, use of hand washing agents, use of hand washing tools, washing of different parts of the hands, hand-drying method, temperature of water, and method of turning off the water. Samples taken from employees' hands before washing showed higher levels of bacteria than those taken during work and/or after washing (p<0.05). Poor hand washing practices were indicated by the positive results for total and fecal coliforms, E. coli, and S. aureus on the hands of some food-service employees. This study showed that there is a marked difference between the food-service employees' awareness of hand-washing and their actual hand-washing practices. The poor hand hygiene of and improper hand washing by the food-service employees should be addressed for improved food safety.

안전의식이 조직신뢰 및 조직몰입에 미치는 영향 (의류물류센터를 중심으로) (The impact on Safety consciousness organizational and organizational commitment (Focusing on the clothing distribution center))

  • This study was aimed to demonstrate how the analysis of the impact on confidence in the safety-conscious organizations target the clothing distribution center employees and organizational commitment. Safety awareness of employees of the clothing distribution center safety rules, safety education, road safety interests, divided into risk handling and trusted organization with the emotional trust and cognitive trust, organizational commitment was divided into affective, cognitive and normative commitment. Data collection was surveyed 185 people clothing distribution center workers, tested the hypothesis through regression analysis. The results are safety conscious exerts a positive effect on organizational trust, organizational trust was found to have a positive impact on organizational commitment.

고과공정성이 조직몰입에 미치는 영향에 있어 고과수단성의 조절효과에 관한 실증적 연구 : 대학 교직원을 중심으로 (A Empirical Study on the Moderate Effect of Appraisal Instrumentality in the Effect of the Appraisal Justice on the Organization Commitment : Focused on the University Employees)

  • This study analyzed the main effect on organizational commitment of organizational justice factors and the moderating effects of appraisal instrumentality on the relationship of three justice factors(distributive Justice, procedural justice, and interactional justice) and organizational commitment. Hypotheses were tested by surveying 468 employees of four universities. This results suggest following important implications. First, all three justice factors are essential to enhance the level of organizational commitment in appraisal about employee of university. Second, especially, the moderating effect of appraisal instrument has been found only between distributive justice and organization commitment.

일부 병원 직원들의 건강증진 실천과 관련된 요인 (Factors Related to the Health Promotion Practices in Employees of Local Hospitals)

  • 본 연구는 병원 직원들의 건강증진 실천과 관련된 요인들을 규명하기 위해 시도하였다. 자료는 2010년 1월 11일부터 2월 11일까지 서울에 소재한 2개의 종합병원에 근무하고 있는 병원 직원 204명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 건강증진의 실천정도에 따른 자기효능감은 스트레스정도가 낮은 그룹 3.71점에서의 자기효능감이 높은 그룹 2.64점보다 유의하게 높게 나타났다(F=3.802, p=0.026). 둘째, 건강증진 실천에 따른 사회적 지지는 운동을 하는 그룹에서 인지하는 사회적 지지의 정도가 운동을 하지 않는 그룹에서의 사회적 지지보다 유의하게 높았다(F=3.496, p=0.048). 셋째, 자기효능감과 사회적 지지는 유의한 양의 상관관계를 보였다(r=0.591, p<0.001). 결론적으로 병원 직원들의 건강증진실천 향상을 위한 적극적인 자가관리 프로그램 개발 및 적용이 필요하다.
