  • As competition shifts from being a company oriented one to a supply chain oriented, an effective SCM(supply chain management) becomes a necessary strategy for any successful businesses. But, it is not easy to form a successful SCM, because the individual desire of participants conflict with others. These desires affect the performance of SCM and cause waste of cost and time. Analyzing a supply chain of discount retailers, this paper eliminates idle time and improves the process with rearranging the reorder closing time(reorder point). For win-win strategy, this work reveals the reorder closing time is an important factor. It is possible to reduce cost and time on the entire SCM process by just changing the ordering time.

  • Many studies of experimental economics have produced outcomes which contradict the predictions of Nash equilibrium, which relies heavily upon the premise of selfishness of an individual. In the games involving contexts of social conflicts represented by the prisoners' dilemma game, the experiments yields outcomes quite different from what are predicted by the conventional wisdom. In order to fill this gap between the conventional Nash Equilibrium and experimental outcomes, non-selfish (or other-regarding) motives of human behavior are introduced and then a new equilibrium concept, RAE-equilibrium is developed. It is also proved that an RAE-equilibrium exists under quite general conditions. Then it is applied to the prisoners' dilemma game that some of the experimental outcomes can be explained.

  • The proposed method is described for scheduling their output of thermal power units so as to comply with total emission constraint, area emission constraint and the both of those constraints. Also, by using a trade-off curve, representing all dispatch alternatives and conflict between the emission and the fuel cost, the sensitivity analysis of the emission and the fuel cost is applied to this algorithm. By the way, this proposed method is analyzed how dispatch changes as a function of the total environmental cost, and as a function of the relative weighting of individual environmental insults, e.g, NOx and $SO_{2}$. By applying the proposed method to the system, the usefulness of this method is verified.

  • When designing the parameter on the multiple quality characteristics, there has been a study for optimization of problems, but there has been few former study on the possible conflicting phenomena in consideration of the correlations among the characteristics. To solve the issue on the optimal design for multiple quality characteristics, this study propose the expected loss function with cross-product terms among the characteristics and derived range of the coefficients of the terms. The model will be used to determine the global optimal design parameters where there exists the conflict among the characteristics, which shows difference in optimal design parameters for the individual characteristics. Also, when an adjustment factor exists for each m performance characteristics, this research propose a method by minimizing the expected loss after adjustment.

  • The author reviewed cognitive-behavioral approach to A type behavior pattern and hypertension which are known to be risk factors for coronary heart diseases. Those cognitive distortions frequently found in persons with A type behavior include all-nothing thinking, selective attention, personalization, and attribution of causality. Cognitive-behavioral techniques were also described, which can be applied to management of each characteristic of A type behavior pattern such as time urgency, perfectionism, achievement striving, low self-esteem, excessive work involvement, hostility, and depression. Cognitive-behavioral intervention for hypertension might help the patients to recognize and monitor anger-engendering conflicts, identify characteristic styles of responding, and experiment with alternative ways of managing conflict and anger. Since different features predominate in different individuals, it is necessary to develop treatment plan on the basis of individual characteristics and problems.

  • The purposes of the study were to find the characteristics of spousal conflict, the characteristics of the origin of family in couple, the intervention techniques of the family therapist, and the processes of change in couple through family therapy. The total family counseling was 9 sessions, which included individual and couple therapy. The study used constant comparative analysis by using open coding method to find the factors. The study suggested the whole model for the study, which could be shown the processes of family therapy in this case study, by using graphical network display. The results of study showed the personal characteristics of husband and wife, the characteristics of the origin of family in couple, the intervention techniques of the family therapist, and the processes of change in husband through family therapy by using matrix. The results revealed that there were many differences in characteristics to cause spousal conflicts and characteriscts in family of origin to influence the crisis of divorce. The therapeutic intervention to treat the couples in the crisis of divorce were facilitation of communication between husband and wife, husband's differentiation of self from family of origin, and understanding about the perspectives of family members. As results of therapeutic intervention, there were showed the spousal change of recognition to each other, husband's differentiation of self, wife's growth of self, and improvement of communication.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate cognitive mechanism of goal relations (Single-goal vs. Multiple-goals) and to-do list (Packing vs. Unpacking) and also verify the role of self-efficacy in the perspective of motivation belief. The perspective of cognitive mechanism is related to the effects of how the relations of multitasking environments affects to facilitating relation or conflicting relations. In pursuit of a single goal, judgement of task importance can be facilitated by unpacking effect due to relations of strongly associated project components including to-do list. On the other hands, in pursuit of multiple goals, judgement of task importance can be conflicted due to mutually exclusive relations of multiple goals. Additionally, the cognitive mechanism can be regulated from the role of self-efficacy, which contributes to motivation belief on how much a person is confident in achieving given tasks. In the end this research is to identify self-efficacy as boundary condition in inhibiting the effects of facilitation and conflict. Design/methodology/approach This study conducted Two-way ANOVA (Packing/ Unpacking * Single-goal/ Multiple-goals) to explore the effects of cognitive mechanism on task importance. After that we performed Three-way ANOVA, 2 (To-do list: Packing/ Unpacking) * 2 (Goal relation: Single-goal/ Multiple-goals) * 2 (Self-efficacy: Low self-efficacy/ High self-efficacy) to verify the role of self-efficacy between goal relations and to-do list. Findings In the cognitive mechanism, the task importance is not significantly different between in packed and in unpacked condition in pursuit of a single goal. But multitasking with multiple goals causes goal conflict, which means packed condition indicates significantly higher task importance than unpacked condition. Additionally, for a group with low self-efficacy unpacking leads to conflicting relation, which implies that packed condition is more efficient strategy than packed condition. On the other hands, in pursuit of mulitple goals, either packing or unpacking has no distinctive effects on task importance. However, participants with high self-efficacy are no longer affected by facilitating relation and conflicting relation as well in pursuit of either a single goal or multiple goals as well.

  • The high-speed weigh-in-motion system can collect the traveling speed and load information of individual vehicles, which can be used in a variety of ways for the traffic surveillance. However, it has a limit to apply the high-speed weigh-in-motion data directly to a safety analysis because high-speed weigh-in-motion's raw data are point measured data. In order to overcome this problem, this paper proposes a method to calculate the conflict rate and the Impulse severity based on surrogate safety measures derived from the detection time, detection speed, vehicle length, vehicle type, vehicle weight. It will be possible to analyze and evaluate the risk of rear-end collision on freeway traffic. In addition, this study is expected to be used as a fundamental for identifying crash risks and developing policies to enhance traffic safety on freeways.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to determine factors affecting workers' physiological somatic complain using the Job Stress Model proposed by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Method: Data were collected from the 1st to the 30th of December 1999. The subjects were 2.123 workers employed at 155 work sites. Collected date were analyzed through SAS/PC program. Result: According to individual characteristics, younger and women groups showed significantly higher physiological somatic complaint than elder men groups. By work condition, groups with higher physiological somatic complaint included workers of irregular shift work. Dark lighting, improper temperature in winter, improper ventilation, inappropriate humidity, unpleasant work environment and crowded work place were significantly related with physiological somatic complaint. By work-related factor, physiological somatic complaint was high in those with higher variance in work load, quantitative work load, role conflict, job burden, role ambiguity and future ambiguity. On the other hand, physiological somatic complaint was low in those with little underutilization of ability. As for the relationships between physiological somatic complaint and non-work related factors, physiological somatic complaint was high in workers who had a side job, were bringing up infants alone, cleaned the house alone, cared for the elderly and disabled persons, were studying, were volunteering at another organization, and were spending 5-10 hours in religious activities per week. Physiological somatic complain was in significantly negative correlations with overall social support, supervisory support and family support, but in significantly positive correlations with co-worker support. Conclusion: The main predictors of physiological somatic complain were gender, shift work pattern, overtime work, ventilation, role ambiguity, role conflict, future ambiguity, job control, variance in work load, overall social support, worker with side job, worker who cleans the house alone, worker who is studying. These predictors explained 19.10% of the total variance of physiological somatic complain.
