Analysis of Binodal Structures of Final State Distributions in Vibrational Predissociations of Triatomic van der Waals Molecules

  • In this work, we focused on the setup of the tools for the analysis of the final rotational state distribution of photofragments in vibrational predissociations of triatomic van der Waals molecules A-B2. We found that reflection principle used for the direct photodissociation processes can also be applied to find out the final rotational state distributions for indirect photodissociation processes. The quantity which represents the strength of rovibrational coupling between the quasi-bound state and the final state is reflected into the mirror of the classical angular momentum function, instead of the initial state before light absorption used in the reflection principle of direct processes. The sign change in the first derivative of the interaction potential with respect to the bond distance of B2 is found to be the source of the binodal structures in the final rotational distributions of photofragments in the model system studied in this work. In MQDT analysis, short range eigenchannel basis functions were found to be localized in angle, in the previous work [Lee, C.W. Bull. Korean Chem. Soc. 1995, 16, 957.] and may be called angle functions. Angle functions enjoy simple geometrical structures which have simple functional relations with the final state distributions of photofragments. Two processes take place along the angle functions which resemble the quasi-bound state and dominate over other processes. Two such angle functions are found to be not only localized angularly but also localized either one of ends of B2 in motions along the bond of B2. These dominating photodissociation processes, however, cancel each other. This cancellation causes photodissociation to depend sensitively on the interaction potential at other angles than the dominant one. Part of potential surface where much larger torque exists can now play an important role in photodissociation. MQDT also enables us to see which processes play important roles after cancellation. This is done by examining the amounts of time delayed by asymptotic eigenchannels.

Configuration of a 16-Element Array Antenna Design to Improve Signal Detection Performances (신호탐지 정확도를 높이기 위해 최적 배열형상을 고려한 16소자 배열안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, we proposed a 16-element array antenna design to improve signal detection performances. The array antenna characteristics, such as mutual coupling, pattern deviation, and half power beamwidth of the active element, were examined to obtain an optimal spacing between individual elements. The single element of the array antenna consists of an indirect feed using L-shaped feed and shorted radiating patch to achieve a broadband operation. Root mean square(RMS) errors based on the incident angle of the signal were calculated to verify the signal detection performance of the proposed antenna. The results demonstrate that the proposed array antenna with optimal spacing is suitable for detecting interference signals with low RMS error.

  • As computing devices become ubiquitous and increasingly mobile, it becomes obvious that a synchronous and direct peer-to-peer communication model is not sufficient in distributed computing environment. Using an indirect event service instead of other traditional communication model has an advantage of decreasing the coupling of applications in a distributed environment and removing the need for many static dependencies. In this paper, we design and implement the secure event service for providing secure ubiquitous computing environment. The Secure Event Service implemented enables users to perform content-based event retrieval, and supports only eligible event comsumer and event producer can publish and receive events through the secure event service. SPKI/SDSI certificate is used for supporting authentication and authorization in the secure event service. In order to provide a content-based event retrieval, an asynchronous communication between event producers and consumers, and a disconnectedness support for mobile devices, we modify and expand the Javaspace package.

Optical properties of $ZnIn_2Se$ and $ZnIn_2Se_4$:Co single crystals ($ZnIn_2Se_4$$ZnIn_2Se_4$:Co 단결정의 광학적 특성)

  • Undoped and Co-doped $ZnIn_2Se_4$ single crystals crystallized in the tetragonal space group 142m, with lattice constants a=5.748 $\AA$ and c=11.475 $\AA$, and a=5.567 $\AA$ and c=11.401 $\AA$. The optical absorption measured near the fundamental band edge showed that the optical energy band structure of these compounds had an indirect band gap, the direct and the indirect energy gaps of these compounds decreased as temperature changed from 10 to 300 K. The temperature coefficients of the direct energy gaps were found to be $\alpha=3.71\times10^{-4}$eV/K and $\beta$=519 K for $\alpha=3.71\times10^{-4}$eV/K and $\beta$=421K for $ZnIn_2Se_4$: Co. The temperature coefficients of the indirect energy gaps were also found to be $\alpha=2.31\times10^{-4}$ eV/K and $\beta$=285 K for $ZnIn_2Se_4$, and $\alpha=3.71\times10^{-4}$eV/K and $\beta$=609 K for $ZnIn_2Se_4$:Co, respectively. Six impurity optical absorption peaks due to cobalt are observed in $ZnIn_2Se_4$:Co single crystal. These impurity optical absorption peaks can be attibuted to the electronic transitions between the split energy levels of$CO^{2+}$ ions located at Td symmetry site of $ZnIn_2Se_4$ host lattice. The 1st order spin-orbit coupling constant ($\lambda$), Racah parameter (B), and crystal field parameter (Dq) ARE GIVEN AS -$243\textrm{cm}^{-1}, 587\textrm{cm}^{-1}, \;and\;327\textrm{cm}^{-1}$, respectively.

  • The most commonly used numerical modelling techniques for acoustics and vibration are based on element based techniques, such as the nite element and boundary element method. Due to the huge computational eorts involved, the use of these deterministic techniques is practically restricted to low-frequency applications. For high-frequency modelling, probabilistic techniques such as SEA are well established. However, there is still a wide mid-frequency range, for which no adequate and mature prediction techniques are available. In this frequency range, the computational eorts of conventional element based techniques become prohibitively large, while the basic assumptions of the probabilistic techniques are not yet valid. In recent years, a vast amount of research has been initiated in a quest for an adequate solution for the current midfrequency problem. One family of research methods focuses on novel deterministic approaches with an enhanced convergence rate and computational eciency compared to the conventional element based methods in order to shift the practical frequency limitation towards the mid-frequency range. Amongst those techniques, a wave based prediction technique using an indirect Tretz approach is being developed at the K.U.Leuven - Noise and Vibration Research group. This paper starts with an outline of the major features of the mid-frequency modelling challenge and provides a short overview of the current research activities in response to this challenge. Next, the basic concepts of the wave based technique and its hybrid coupling with nite element schemes are described. Various validations on two- and threedimensional acoustic, elastic, poro-elastic and vibro-acoustic examples are given to illustrate the potential of the method and its benecial performance as compared to conventional element based methods. A closing part shares some views on the open issues and future research directions.

Immunological properties of the 30 kDa antigen of Toxoplasma gondii (단클론 항체를 이용하여 정제한 톡소포자충 30 kDa 항원의 면역학적 특성)

  • The molecular weight 30 kDa membrane protein of Toxoplusma Sondii (Toxoplasma 30 kDa) apparently conserved in most strains of T. gondii and sera of infected hosts. The present study aimed to elucidate Toxoplasmc 30 kDa as a useful diagnotic antigen for serodiagnisis of toxoplasmosis by ELISA and for induction of protective immunity. Murine spleen cells immunized with the membrane antigen of T. gondii were fused with mouse Sp2/0-Ag 14 myeloma cells. Out of 8 clones selected, five were IgG2b, the others belonged to IgG 1 and IgG2a. The 30 kDa antigen was distributed mainly on the surface membrane of tachyzoites by indirect fluorescence method. Murine peritoneal macrophages which were activated by 30 kDa antigen produced more amounts of NO2 compared with crude antigen-treated group, however there were no significant differences in toxoplamacidal activity between the two groups. Higher specificity of Toxoplosma 30 kDa antigen was recognized for serodiagnosis of toxoplasmosis than the crude antigen. From these results, ToxopLasmo 30 kDa antigen enhances the cytotoxic effect of macrophages as well as a more reliable means for the serodiagnosis of toxoplasmosis by ELISA. International Comparison of Decoupling of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the Steel Industry (철강산업의 온실가스 배출 탈동조화 국제비교)

  • The iron and steel industry is a manufacturing industry with the largest greenhouse gases emissions and has a great ripple effect on the national economy as a core material industry. This study internationally compared the decoupling patterns of greenhouse gases emissions in the iron and steel industry from 1990 to 2019, focusing on Korea, Japan, and Germany. In particular, unlike previous studies that considered only fuel combustion emissions, this study considered all fuel combustion emissions, industrial process emissions, and indirect emissions from the use of electricity and heat. As a result of the analysis, Korea is interpreted as expansive coupling, Japan as decoupling, and Germany as unclear. Therefore, the decoupling path that the Korean iron and steel industry should take should not be in Germany, but in the form of seeking a decoupling method similar to Japan or more effective than Japan. In addition, this study considered the characteristics of the iron and steel industry as much as possible and presented the causes of the decoupling analysis results and implications for the Korean iron and steel industry through comparison with Japan and Germany. In particular, four factors were suggested as factors which has promoted decoupling in Japan: high value-added of Japanese iron and steel products, development of energy efficiency technology in the Japanese iron and steel industry, strategic M&A of the Japanese iron and steel industry, and maintaining competitiveness according to the closed distribution structure of Japanese iron and steel products. The Korean iron and steel industry should also use the case of Japan as a benchmark to further increase added value through quality uprade and product diversification of iron and steel products, while at the same time making efforts to fundamentally reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the development of new technologies.
