  • 본 연구에서는 해운기업의 안전관리체제 운영 지원과 시스템 운영 모니터링 및 운영성과 평가도구로 활용할 수 있는 안전관리체제 운영평가 지표를 개발하였다. 이 지표를 이용하여 안전관리체제 도입을 준비하고 있는 기업이나, 기도입하여 유지 발전시키고자 하는 기업에게 운영 단계별 필요한 지식을 알기 쉽게 종합 수록하여 상시 활용할 수 있는 지침서 내지 컨설턴트 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다. 또한 자체 내부심사 시 및 시스템 운영성과 평가 시 평가도구로 활용하여 시스템의 지속적인 개선 및 발전에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 이 지표는 크게 대 기준 11개 항목, 중 기준 33개 항목, 소 기준 447개 항목으로 구성되어 있다.

  • Increasing interconnection of power plants in modern large electric power system has made power system dynamic studies much more complex. For effective analysis of the power system, model reduction and aggregation is required. In this paper, a new relation index is presented to identify the coherent generators in the large scale power system. In order to demonstrate the effects of this relation index, it is applied to a small scale power system of IEEE 39-bus test system and the simulation results are presented.

Computerized occlusal analysis: correlation with occlusal indexes to assess the outcome of orthodontic treatment or the severity of malocculusion

  • Objective: The aims of our study were to verify the validity of the T-Scan III system (Tekscan) as an objective occlusal evaluation tool, and to assess the differences between two occlusal indexes - the peer assessment rating (PAR) index and the American Board of Orthodontics objective grading system (OGS) - by comparing the scores derived from the T-Scan III system with the two occlusal indexes and analyzing the correlations between them. Methods: The final study sample included 48 adult volunteers (39 men and 9 women, mean age $24.14{\pm}3.16years$), after excluding 29 volunteers whose occlusion could not be evaluated by the T-Scan III system due to severe skeletal or occlusal problems. PAR index and OGS scores were assessed using dental study models, and measurements of centric occlusion, protrusive movement, and lateral excursion movement were obtained via the T-Scan III system. The results were analyzed to determine correlations. Results: Occlusal analysis by the T-Scan III system was clinically reliable (p < 0.05), and the PAR index and OGS scores were significantly correlated with several measurements obtained with the T-Scan III system (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The T-Scan III system is a quantitative and reliable method for occlusal evaluation, and represents a potential substitute for occlusal indexes. Compared to the PAR index, the OGS scores of more variables were significantly correlated with the T-Scan measurements.

Damage index sensor for smart structures

  • A new sensor system is proposed for measuring damage indexes. The damage index is a physical value that is well correlated to a critical damage in a device or a structure. The mechanism proposed here utilizes elastic buckling of a thin wire and does not require any external power supply for memorizing the index. The mechanisms to detect peak strain, peak displacement, peak acceleration and cumulative deformation as examples of damage indexes are presented. Furthermore, passive and active wireless data retrieval mechanisms using electromagnetic induction are proposed. The passive wireless system is achieved by forming a closed LC circuit to oscillate at its natural frequency. The active wireless sensor can transmit the data much further than the passive system at the sacrifice of slightly complicated electric circuit for the sensor. For wireless data retrieval, no wire is needed for the sensor to supply electrical power. For the active system, electrical power is supplied to the sensor by radio waves emitted from the retrieval system. Thus, external power supply is only needed for the retrieval system when the retrieval becomes necessary. Theoretical and experimental studies to show excellent performance of the proposed sensor are presented. Finally, a prototype damage index sensor installed into a 7 storey base-isolated building is explained.

이동체의 관성을 이용한 궤적 색인의 병렬화 기법 (Parallelization scheme of trajectory index using inertia of moving objects)

  • 최근 가장 활발하고 많은 연구가 이루어지는 시스템중의 하나는 교통 제어 시스템이다. 이 시스템을 효과적으로 지원하기 위해서는 이동체를 효과적으로 저장하고, 시간 혹은 시공간 질의를 효과적으로 수행하기 위하여 높은 성능을 가진 이동체 데이터베이스 시스템이 필요하다. 빠른 이동체 데이터베이스 시스템의 성능은 병렬 색인을 이용하여 구축될 수 있다. 이 논문에서는 시공간 인접성과 이동체 특성에 기반한 디클러스터링 정책을 제시한다. 이동체의 진행 방향에 대한 예측을 통하여 색인의 노드에 대한 성장을 예측하고, 이를 토대로 병렬 색인을 구축한다. 실험 결과 제시된 기법은 기존의 다른 정책에 비하여 최대 15%이상의 성능 향상이 있다. 이 결과는 단일 디스크를 사용할 때에 비하여 디스크 당 50%이상의 성능향상 결과이다.

생물지수를 이용한 북한강 수계에서의 생물학적 수질 평가 (biotic Indices as Assessment tools of Water Quality in the Han River System, Korea)

  • biotic indices scoring with the benthic macroinvertebrates were assessed as pollution monitoring tools in the north branch of the Han River system, Korea. We investigated the temporal variability of water quality at unpolluted, moderately polluted and heavily polluted sites using several biotic indices and assessed appropriate biological monitoring indices for lotic systems in Korea. The following biotic and chemical indices were employed in order to compare their applicability to the lotic systems : Trent Biotic Index (TBI), Chandler's Biotic Index-Average Score per Taxon (CBI-ASPT), Modified Biological Monitoring Working Party Score System-Average Score per Taxon (BMWP-ASPT), Hilsenhoff's biotic Index (BI) and Family-level Biotic Index (FBI) models for biotic analyses and National Sanitation foundation's Water Quality Index (NSFWQI) and comprehensive Chemical Pollution Index (Pb/n) for chemical analyses of water quality. Index and score values were compared with each other and with 24 water chemistry parameters. All biotic indices were significantly auto-correlated (p<0.001) and BI and FBI/ROK among them were highly correlated (r=0.84). BI and BMWP-ASPT models were also highly correlated with NSFWQI, while TBI values showed high correlation with the Pb/n. The BI and BMWP-ASPT were highly correlated with the most water chemistry parameters. We conclude that the BI model, which includes indicator species and abundance of taxa, is best suited for the bioassessment of lotic systems in Korea. For rapid field-based assessments, FBI/ROK and BMWP-ASPT models are also appropriate.

Maintenance Priority Index of Overhead Transmission Lines for Reliability Centered Approach

  • Overhead transmission lines are crucial components in power transmission systems. Well-designed maintenance strategy for overhead lines is required for power utilities to minimize operating costs, while improving the reliability of the power system. This paper presents a maintenance priority index (MPI) of overhead lines for a reliability centered approach. Proposed maintenance strategy is composed of a state index and importance indices, taking into account a transmission condition and importance in system reliability, respectively. The state index is used to determine the condition of overhead lines. On the other hand, the proposed importance indices indicate their criticality analysis in transmission system, by using a load effect index (LEI) and failure effect index (FEI). The proposed maintenance method using the MPI has been tested on an IEEE 9-bus system, and a numerical result demonstrates that our strategy is more cost effective than traditional maintenance strategies.

공간 데이터 웨어하우스에서 부분 색인을 이용한 효율적인 색인 재구축 기법 (Efficient Index Reconstruction Methods using a Partial Index in a Spatial Data Warehouse)

  • 공간 데이터 웨어하우스는 공간정보를 주제 중심적이고 통합적이며 시간성을 가지는 비 휘발성 자료로 저장하여 의사결정을 효율적으로 지원하는 시스템이다. 이 시스템은 구축기와 공간 데이터 웨어하우스 서버로 구성되어 있다. 공간 데이터 웨어하우스 서버는 구축기에서 전송된 데이터를 적재하기 위해 사용자 서비스를 정지하고, 사용자의 빠른 응답시간을 위해 적재된 데이터로 색인을 구축한다. 색인 구축을 위한 기존 기법에는 벌크 삽입 기법과 색인 전송 기법이 있다. 벌크 삽입 기법은 색인을 구축하기 위한 클러스터링 비용이 크며 검색 성능도 떨어진다. 색인 전송 기법은 주기적인 소스 데이터의 변경을 지원하지 않는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 공간 데이터 웨어하우스에서의 부분 색인을 이용한 효율적인 색인 재구축 기법을 제안한다. 제안 기법은 부분 색인을 직접 전송, 기록하며 물리적 위치 정보를 예상하여 기록할 수 있는 효율적인 색인 재구축 기법이다. 구축기에서 추출된 데이터를 공간의 근접도가 아닌 색인의 구조에 맞게 클러스터링하며, 생성된 각 클러스터를 부분 색인으로 구성하여 페이지 단위로 전송한다. 공간 데이터 웨어하우스 서버에서는 전송된 부분 색인을 저장하기 위해 물리적으로 연속된 공간을 예약하고 예약된 공간에 부분 색인을 기록한다. 기록된 부분 색인을 공간 데이터 웨어하우스 서버의 기 구축된 색인에 삽입함으로써 색인 재구축을 위한 검색, 분할, 재조정 비용이 최소화된다.

정밀 경운을 위한 원추지수 지도 작성 (Mapping of Cone Index for Precision Tillage)

  • Precision tillage is designed to till lands variably according to their firmness. Therefore, it is necessary to measure soil firmness in fields and present it in a form with which the variable tillage on be performed. Such forms may be classified into two categories: sensor-based and map-based forms. The map-based approach appears to be inevitable until the technology develops high enough to secure the sensor-based approaches. The first step for map-based precision tillage may be to develop a tillage recommendation map. In this study, a tractor-mountable automatic soil firmness measurement system was developed to construct a cone index map. The system is comprised of three ASAE Standard cone penetrometers and a hydraulic unit for controlling operation of the penetrometers. The system is designed to conduct stop-and-go measurements in fields. The measurements from the three penetrometers are transferred to a microcomputer and the average cone index was calculated. This average cone index was taken as soil firmness of the location where the measurement was made. The cone indices thus determined were used to construct a cone index map using the ArcView software. The system also displays the soil penetration resistance, cone index and soil depth as the cone penetrates into the soil. The field performance of the system was evaluated and the cone index maps at different depths were also presented.

  • In this paper, a sensitivity index is proposed for identifying the location of FACTS in the power system with PSS. The index can be calculated by using the bus impedance matrix of the power system. This index that is related with sensitivity matrix is included in the network and not in operating condition for power system. This index is applied to IEEE 9 bus test system.
