STOCHASTIC SCALING EFFECT AND STATISTICS OF COSMOLOGICAL DENSITY FLUCTUATIONS

  • The nonlinear stochastic behavior of chaotic inflation is characterized by the 'scaling' effect. Using a simple criterion for the appearance of scaling behavior in the ${\lambda}{\phi}^4$ inflation model, we show explicitly that in this limit the onset of the scaling regime does not require any special initial conditions and that it is independent of the self-coupling constant ${\lambda}$. Non-Gaussian statistics in adiabatic fluctuations are important only for super-horizon scales and the scaling regime does not lead to any significant statistical properties on currently observable scales. However, the scaling effect gives some cosmological consequences very different from what we expect in the naive diffusion approximation for quantum fluctuations. The classical (deterministic) treatment of the inflation field (essentially a quantum mechanical object.) becomes valid towards the end of inflation.

  • The intensity modulated type (reflective method) optical fiber sensor is a well -known method and widely applied to the displacement measurements and other industrial purposes. This type sensor has the advantages of relatively cheap cost, small sensor size and easiness of operation. The sensitivity of the sensor is very dependent of several error terms; the variation in the intensity of the light source and the changes in the surface reflectivity of the object. An optical fiber coupled displacement probe with a new compensation method is presented in this paper. The proposed displacement sensor can measure the displacements of the target surface independent of surface reflectivity error that is caused by the materials and surface processing grade.

Web-based Design System of Gear Drive (웹 기반 치차장치 설계 시스템 개발)

  • There have been continuous efforts for developing the automatic mechanical design system to increase the efficiency of the tedious design process. However, these efforts have been concentrated on single platform application. Hence, the developed systems have been available only in a designated place and time and have been difficult to modify. It is proposed in this study that a web-based design system is developed to offer more reliability and convenience without any restriction of tine and place. The developed system is programed based on Java, and architecture of the system has object-oriented features of Servlet and JSP and is independent on any operating systems. The developed system has been applied to the initial design of multi-stage gear dirves but however as the framework of the developed system is quite versatile, its application to automatic design of any mechanical system or evaluation can be easily expected.

  • For last two decades numerous automatic mesh generation algorithms for various two dimensional objects have been introduced continuously and among them triangular mesh generation schemes have been majority because of efficiency and controllability. In our study, an existing triangular mesh generation algorithm developed by Lo is totally modified to more improve node distribution, element shape, and objects shape independency. ft is composed of node generation part and element generation part. In order to find a suitable node position within geometry, the suggested algorithm searches desirable positions of points within boundary and optimizes node position to generate comparatively well-shaped elements. More over, the suggested algorithm handles various complex two dimensional objects and its meshing speed shows superiority to those of the existing triangulation mesh generation algorithms. It is fully automated in a sense of constructing object boundary and hence can be directly used as an independent meshing software.

  • The object of multiresponse optimization is to determine conditions on hte independent variables that lead to optimal or nearly optimal values of the response variables. Derringer and Suich (1980) extended Harrington's (1965) procedure by introducing more general transformations of the response into desirability functions. The core of the desirability a, pp.oach condenses a multivariate optimization into a univariate one. But because of the subjective nature of this a, pp.oach, inexperience on the part of the user in assessing a product's desirability value may lead to inaccurate results. To compensate for this defect, a weighted desirability function is introduced which takes into consideration the vriances of the responses.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of PCOAMC(PC-based Open Architecture Machine Controller) to be flexible and independent from the vendor-oriented hardware and software structure. This openness approach is able to enhance an intelligence and integration of a manufacturing system. The development methodology of PcOAMC is an Object-Oriented approach, and all modules in PcOAMC are modelled using UML(Unified Modelling Language) that provides an easy understanding and modification. In order to demonstrate an applicability of PcOAMC, a simple test has been executed by using the Client-Server system consisting of two PcOAMCS and bus monitoring system. The good results have been obtained, so that the developed controller is expected to be embedded into IMS(Intelligent Manufacturing System) as a basic unit.

  • 인터넷 사용 인구의 폭발적인 증가로 인한, 네트웍상의 정보 교류는 이제 실생활에서는 빼 놓을 수 없을 만큼 하나의 큰 부분으로 자리잡고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 정보보호의 중요성은 정보 교류의 필요성 이상으로 심각하게 대두되는 문제이다. 현재 정보보호 서비스 시스템에서 빠질 수 없는 부분이 양단간 기밀 통신을 위한 키의 분배이며, 키의 분배는 시스템의 효율을 위해 세션키를 공개키 방식으로 암호화하여 분배하는 방법을 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 서로 다른 기종간에도 쉽게 적용이 가능하도록, 자바로 구현된 키 분배 서버를 제안하며, 이 키 분배 서버는 객체 기반으로 설계되어 정보보호 서비스 시스템에 적용한 후에도 쉽게 유지, 보수 및 확장이 가능하도록 되어 있다. 향후의 연구 과제로는 정보보호 서비스 시스템과의 더욱 원활한 이식을 위해 향상된 인터페이스의 개발은 물론이고, 키 분배 서버 및 정보보호 서비스 시스템 구성 요소에 관한 여러 관리 기능이 연구되어야 할 것이다.

WeblME: An Web-based Integrated Modeling Environment for Multi-facetted Model Representation and Management

  • WebME is an Web-based integrated modeling environment that implements a multi-facetted modeling approach to mathematical model representation and management. Key features of WebME include the following: (i) sharing of modeling knowledge on the Web, (ii) a user-friendly interface for creating, maintaining, and solving models, (iii) independent management of mathematical models from conceptual models, (iv) object-oriented conceptual blackboard concept, (v) multi-facetted mathematical modeling modeling, and (vi) declarative representation of mathematical knowledge. This paper presents details of design and implementation issues that were encountered in the development of WebME.

ULTRAFAST INTERFACIAL ELECTRON TRAPPING AND RECOMBINATION IN PHOTOEXCITED COLLOIDAL CADMIUM SULFIDE

  • We measured, using femtosecond pump-probe experiment, the time evolution of transient absorption in aqueous CdS colloids. The signal rises within the time resolution (= 0.5 ps) of the experiment and decays with two exponential time constants, 4.8 ps and 132 ps. The ultrafast rise of the transient absorption is considered to be for shallowly trapped conduction band electrons after photoexcitation. The amplitude ratio of the two decaying components varies with the pump intensity and the decay times increase in the presence of hole scavengers. Even though a biexponential function fits the decay well, we object hat two independent first order processes (geminate and nongeminate recombinations) are responsible for the decay. A function with an integrated rate equation for second order nongeminate recombination plus a long background fits the decay well. The long background is considered to be for deeply trapped charges at the CdS particle.
