  • Anemia can be defined as a reduction in blood hemoglobin concentration or red cell mass relative to age matched normal values. Clinical presentation may range from obviously pale and lethargy to an incidental finding during screening of an otherwise well appearing child. The differential diagnosis of anemia in each instance is broad with numerous possible etiologies. A careful history and physical examination as well as complete blood count, peripheral blood smear and additional laboratory tests are necessary in defining underlying cause of the anemia and guide in further treatment plans. In addition, Iron deficiency anemia and anemia of inflammation are common causes of mild to moderate anemia in children, but most pediatricians have some confusions to differentiate these two entities.

  • An 11-year-old male Beagle, weighing 10.5 kg, was presented with sudden bradyarrhthmia and severe hypotension after incidental ingestion of diltiazem. The dog was treated with intravenous(IV) isotonic crystalloid solution, atropine, calcium gluconate, dobutamine, glucagon and gastric lavage under the aid of temporary transcutaneous cardiac pacing. With the short-term use of transcutaneous cardiac pacing and medical treatment, the heart rhythm and the condition of the patient were stabilized.

  • A 57 year old female patient was diagnosed as primary hyperparathyroidism after incidental finding of hypercalcemia. She was treated with radioiodine for Graves disease twenty years ago. Preoperative localization procedures with sonography and CT were unrevealing but 201 thallium scintiscan clearly demonstrated ectopic parathyroid adenoma which was confirmed by surgery. Brief review of the preoperative parathyroid localization procedure was done and the relationship between radioiodine therapy and hyperparathyroidism was discussed.

  • Late capsular hematoma is one of the rare complication of augmentation mammoplasty. Although the cause has not unfolded yet, the possible damage of capsular vessels chafed against the textured prostheses is questioned. Reviewing the literatures, we present a 23-year-old female subjects to incidental swelling of the right breast a year later after augmentation mammaplasty with saline-filled textured prostheses. An MRI study confirmed intracapsular fluid collection sparing the prostheses. The exploration was followed and serosanguinous fluids was drained out of the intracapsular space, and then the existing prostheses were replaced with the smooth surface ones. In the 9 months since the last surgery the patient remained well without any further problem. Intensive massage of the breasts might be accounted to the probable cause of late hematoma in this case.

  • Intracranial lipomas are rare lesions, which are believed to be congenital malformations. They are usually asymptomatic incidental findings and localized in the midline. However, they may occasionally produce neurological symptoms such as seizure, headache, mental changes, paresis. Currently, diagnosis of intracranial lipomas is made on based of imaging modalities, particularly Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). Because Lipomas are strongly adherent to the surroundings and typically enclose both vessels and nerves, Surgical approach is rarely indicated.

  • Pulmonary arteriovenous fistula is relatively rare disease, and the most common types are congenital in origin. The clinical presentation of pulmonary arteriovenous fistula ranges from incidental finding on a chest roentgenogram to polycythemia, cyanosis, congestive heart failure, and major neurologic deficits caused by paradoxical embolism. Recently we have experienced a case of asymptomatic, well-localized pulmonary arteriovenous fistula In a 13 years-old female patient, which was successfully treated by thoracoscopic lobectomy.

  • The authors report a case of unsuspected myocardial ischemia detected during CoDe FDG PET (coincidence detection fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomogram) which was performed for the evaluation of a solitary pulmonary nodule. Camera-based FDG PET without attenuation correction often reveals false defect in the inferior wall of the left ventricle in normals due to excessive attenuation. However, this asymptomatic patient had increased uptake in the inferior wall suggesting ischemic myocardium. The scan finding was confirmed by Tl-201 myocardial SPECT and coronary angiogram. The patient then underwent successful PTCA of mild RCA and right ventricular branch followed by right upper lobectomy for small cell lung cancer.

  • A 20-year-old man underwent a Tc-99m HMPAO labeled leukocyte scan for the evaluation of an infection at the stump of an AK amputation, which was conducted due to an open communicated fracture of the left lower leg. Blood-flow and blood-pool images demonstrated a pseudoaneurysm with a focus of intense activity medial to the stump, and centered within a large photopenic defect by surrounding hematoma. Delayed image obtained at 3 hours post-injection showed persistent intense and slight increased activity, Contrast angiography confirmed the presence of a pseudoaneurysm arising from a branch of the left superficial femoral artery.

  • There exist various conventional ideas, but few ideas may be used for actual production of advertisements. Moreover, because we tend to obtain ideas primarily from the pictures, we rely more and more on data collections, and eventually, we tend to copy them. If there is an idea which designers and copy writers can share, it will be a very effective idea. On the other hard, we need to depart from the individualistic mannerism or the reset-oriented approach depending on incidental manual works and instead, develop a lecture program which helps students e strike systematic ideas centering around processes. In order tn solve such problems, the researcher attempts to suggest "Spring Method" which has heed verified through the advertisement design practice courses at college for 7 semesters. This method focuses on ′visualization of concept′ through such stages as compression, inference and expansion, and therefore, emphasizes an organic linkage between language-oriented idea process and visualization process for advertisement ideas.

  • The parathyroid glands are usually located in the posterolateral area of the thyroid gland. Due to their embryologic origin, they are sometimes found in an ectopic position from the angle of the jaw to the mediastinum. However, their incidental detection in the hypopharyngeal wall is rare. Herein, we report a case of an ectopic parathyroid gland found in the hypopharyngeal wall of a 39-year old woman with no known endocrine abnormality.
