  • We have studied the tilt angle generation on the homeotropic polyimide (PI) surface using a low intensity ion beam source as a function of incident angle. An excellent LC alignment of nematic liquid crystal (NLC) on the PI surface with ion beam exposure for all incident angles was observed. The tilt angle of NLC on the homeotropic PI surface for all incident angles was from 90 to 88 degree was observed. Also the tilt angle of NLC on the homeotropic PI surface with ion beam exposure of 400 eV had a tendency to increase as ion beam energy incident angle become more instance from 45 degree. Finally, a good LC alignment thermal stability on the homeotropic PI surface with ion beam exposure can be achieved.

  • It is using to incident angle estimation technique in order to target estimation in radar. This paper was estimated incident angle estimation for target using adaptive array incident angle and single look error incident angle estimation technique. We estimated signal incident angle of target to removal main lobe and side lobe to adaptive array incident angle technique. It is difficult to correctly target estimation because single look technique increase direction error of signal incident angle. In order to receive a desired target signal must be not almost look error between signal incident angle and look angle. we had decreased to occur a look error using delay time and single look condition to calculation a covariance when incident angle estimate. Through simulation, we show that the proposed incident angle estimation technique improves the performance of target estimation compared to previous method.

  • This study discusses the interacting with deep water waves approaching from deep water based on the linear wave theory and steep sloping sea bottom floor by the numerical procedure. The results of particular interest are particle velocity and acceleration in x, y, z direction wave height amplification factor reflection coefficient and dimensionless pressure distribution on the steep sloping bottom with respect to the various incident wave angle. The wave loads relative to various bottom slopes, incident wave angles and wave periods on submerged breakwater and pipe are represented in comparison with mild sloping bottom the wave load parameters on the steep sloping bottom seemed to be influenced by variation of incident wave angle. In general the particle velocities and accelerations in x, y, z directions on the steep sloping bottom represented larger value or about two than those on the mild sloping bottom according to incident wave angle. However, the wave height amplification factors did not show distinct difference, but the slight variation with respect to the various incident angle showed on mild sloping bottom. The reflection coefficient increased with respect to increase of the incident angle on the steep sloping bottom the results also indicate that the very steep sloping beach produces a rather substantial amount of reflection as we expected. No significant variation of wave pressure was shown on the steep sloping bottom but it represented a certain amount of variation on the mild sloping bottom according to the various incident wave angle. The analysis at the OTEC site also showed similar results.

  • To find the influence of incident angle of wave on the moment of 3 storied steel moment resisting frame which is placed on the concrete rectangular pontoon, the fluid dynamic analysis is carried out, varying the period of wave from 5 to 15 second by 2 seconds. As increasing incident angle of wave to longitudinal axis, the influence of RAO-rolling is increased. The moment of longitudinal frame is increased apparently by the wave pressure when the incident angle is $0^{\circ}$. And the moment of the frame due to the wave pressure is decreased as the incident angle is increased. But the moment of frame due to acceleration caused from pitching and rolling is increased. It is shown that the increased moment when incident angle is $90^{\circ}$ is much greater than that of incident angle $0^{\circ}$.

  • An experimental study on the behavior of droplets impinging on a solid flat surface was carried out in the present study. Breakup of a liquid droplet impinging on a solid surface has been investigated experimentally for various fuels with different properties. The fuel temperature and incident angle were chosen as major parameters. And fuel temperature and incident angle varied in the range from $-20^{\circ}C$ to $30^{\circ}C$ and from $30^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}$, respectively, were investigated. It was found that the variation of fuel temperature influences upon droplet mean diameter which were bounced out from the solid surface. As the increases of incident angle, the break-out mass flow rate increases. This causes the decrease of liquid film flow rate. The larger incident angle gives less liquid film flow rate.

  • In this paper, a new indoor positioning system based on incident angle measurement of infrared sensor has been suggested. Though there have been various researches on indoor positioning systems using vision sensor or ultrasonic sensor, they have not only advantages, but also disadvantages. In a new positioning system, there are three infrared emitters on fixed known positions. An incident angle sensor measures the angle differences between each two emitters. Mathematical problems to determine the position with angle differences and position information of emitters has been solved. Simulations and experiments have been implemented to show the performance of this new positioning system. The results of simulation were good. Since there existed problems of noise and signal conditioning, the experimented has been implemented in limited area. But the results were acceptable. This new positioning method can be applied to any indoor systems that need absolute position information.

  • Sputter deposition on a Pt counter electrode was studied using RF plasma as the improvement of conversion efficiency for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC). The effects of the sputtering thickness and incident angle on a Pt counter electrode for DSC was scrutinized. We conducted the experiment to get the optimal sputtering time for the performance of the DSC. Under the sputtering time condition of 120 seconds, we varied the incident angles of substrate from $0^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}$. Under standard test condition (AM 1.5, 100mW/$cm^2$), we obtained the maximum efficiency of 4.61% at the incident angle of $40^{\circ}$ with an active cell area of $1cm^2$.

  • The tilt angle generation of nematic liquid crystal(NLC) on the homeotropic polyimide(PI) surface by the new Ion beam alignment method is studied. The tilt angle of NLC on the homeotropic PI surface for all incident angle is about 38and this has a stabilization trend. And the good LC alignment of the NLC on the PI surface by ion beam exposure of 45Incident angle was observed. Also the tilt angle of NLC on the homeotropic PI surface by ion beam exposure of 45Incident angle had a tendency to decrease as ion beam energy density increase. So we had known that pretilit angle could be controlled from verticality to horizontality.

  • Under the effects of the near-field earthquakes, the incident angle of the incoming wave could be different. In this study, the influences of some parameters such as incident angle, basin edge, peak ground acceleration level of the bedrock motion as well as different clay types with different consistency on the amplification behavior of the shallow basins are investigated. To attain this goal, the numerical analyses of the basins filled with three different clay types are performed using a fully nonlinear method. The two dimensional models of the basins are subjected to a set of strong ground motions with different peak ground acceleration levels and three different incident angles of 30◦, 45◦ and 90◦ with respect to the horizontal axes. The results show the dominant effect of the obliquely subjected waves at most cases. The higher effect of the 45◦ incident angle on the basin response was concluded. In the other part of this study, the spectral amplification curves of the surface points were compared. It was seen that the maximum spectral amplification of different surface points occurs at different periods. Also, it is affected by the increase in the peak acceleration level of the incoming motions.
