  • The purpose of this study was to carry out a comprehensive assessment of Donjibong Park in Daegu and establish a master plan for green space considering the functional characteristics of the park. For this purpose, green space in the park was assessed based on 13 indicators using three functions. A comprehensive green master plan was then proposed. Green spaces with high scores for the natural-ecological and environmental-control functions were found in the central area of the park, whereas green spaces with low scores were found near the park boundary and paved areas. Green spaces in the southeast were found to have a high score for usage functions due to their proximity to a residential area. In the master plan based on the comprehensive assessment, the plan space was divided into a conservation area, restoration area, buffer area, environmental monitoring area, observatory/trail/facility area, and waterside green space area. Also, concrete plan directions were proposed based on each plan space. These results can be utilized for establishing objective plans in the future construction of new parks.

  • This paper intended to assess the hydro-structure characteristics of volcanic rocks based on the hydrogeological data obtained from the underground storage cavern during construction. The variation of groundwater levels was periodically measured from the 28 surface monitoring holes(NX size) and the hydraulic pressures and injection rates were daily monitored from the water curtain holes(95 horizontal holes and 63 vertical holes). The hydraulic interference tests were performed in whole water curtain holes. The distribution patterns of hydraulic pressure are closely related to the dip angles of fracture intersected to the water curtain holes. Three domains can be grouped by the distribution of hydraulic pressures in the horizontal water curtain holes. The initial hydraulic pressures measured immediately after drilling of water crutain holes are high in ascending order of the cavern C-2, C-1, and C-3. The priliminary hydrochemical data also indicate that the portions of the deep groundwater composition is relatively great in the cavern C-3 area. Some of the horizontal water curtain holes in the cavern C-3 show a steady higher groundwater pressure with the composition of shallow groundwater indicating the outer boundary as constant hydraulic boundary. The water curtain holes in the cavern C-2 is characterized as low initial hydraulic pressure and less injection rates, suggesting poor hydraulic connectivity to a shallow groundwater system. The results of the study can help to understand a hydraulic compartment concept in a fracture hydro-geology and be utilized during the surface investigation for a groundwater system.

  • Recently, safety and environmental concerns have become major social issues. Especially, a special underground-safety law has been made and enacted to prevent ground subsidence around construction sites. For environmental problems, several researches have started or will start on characterization of contaminated sites, in-situ environmental remediation in subsurface, and monitoring of remediation results. As a part of the researches, geophysical surveys, which have been mainly applied to explore mineral resources, geological features or ground, are used to characterize not only contaminated areas but also fluid flow paths in subsurface environments. As a basic study for the application of geophysical surveys to detect contamination in subsurface, this paper analyzes previous researches to understand changes in geophysical properties of contaminated zones by various contaminants such as leachate, heavy metals, and non-adequate phase liquid (NAPL). Furthermore, this paper briefly introduces how geophysical surveys like direct-current electrical resistivity, induced polarization and ground penetration radar surveys can be applied to detect each contamination, before analyzing case studies of the applications in contaminated areas by NAPL, leachate, heavy metal or nitrogen oxides.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the behavior and to study the safety evaluation of the Unmun Dam located in Cheongdo-Gun of GyeongBuk Province, Korea. For this purpose, soil analyses including boring data, geophysical surveys were conducted. In this paper, especially many geophysical methods were adopted to configure out the subsurface situation of dam. Applied geophysical methods were: 1) electric resistivity survey, 2) high frequency magnetotelluric (HFMT) survey, 3) ground penetrating radar (GPR) survey, 4) seismic refraction survey, 5) seismic cross-hole tomography survey, and 6) high frequency impedance (ZHF) survey. Each of geophysical surveys were analyzed and joint analyses between geophysical surveys were also performed to deduce the more reliable subsurface information of Dam by using the features and characteristics of each geophysical survey. Since many defects, such as gravel and weathered rock blocks in the dam core, and lots of amounts of leakage, by boring analyses were found, reinforcement by compaction grouting system (CGS) has been conducted in some range of dam. Some geophysical data and data of geotechnical gauges were also used to confirm the effects of reinforcement. Electric resistivity, EM, GPR, ZHF, seismic refraction and seismic tomography surveys show that left side of dam is weak, which means the possibility of existence of gravel, rock block, water and cavities in the core of dam. This result coincides with the boring data. Especially, electric survey after reinforcement shows that even the right side of the dam has been deformed by the strong pressure during the reinforcement itself. As a conclusion, some problems in the dam found. Especially, the dam near spillway shows the high possibility of leakage. It should be pointed out that only the left side of he dam has not a leakage problem. As a whole, the dam has problems of weakness, because of unsatisfactory construction. It is strongly recommended that highly intensive monitoring is required.

  • In recent years, application of UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) to seed sowing and pest control has been actively carried out in the field of agriculture. In this study, UAS(Unmanned Aerial System) is constructed by combining image sensor of various wavelength band and SfM((Structure from Motion) based image analysis technique in UAV. Utilization of UAS based vegetation survey was investigated and the applicability of precision farming was examined. For this purposes, a UAS consisting of a combination of a VIS_RGB(Visible Red, Green, and Blue) image sensor, a modified BG_NIR(Blue Green_Near Infrared Red) image sensor, and a TIR(Thermal Infrared Red) sensor with a wide bandwidth of $7.5{\mu}m$ to $13.5{\mu}m$ was constructed for a low cost UAV. In addition, a total of ten vegetation indices were selected to investigate the chlorophyll, nitrogen and water contents of plants with visible, near infrared, and infrared wavelength's image sensors. The images of each wavelength band for the test area were analyzed and the correlation between the distribution of vegetation index and the vegetation index were compared with status of the previously surveyed vegetation and ground cover. The ability to perform vegetation state detection using images obtained by mounting multiple image sensors on low cost UAV was investigated. As the utility of UAS equipped with VIS_RGB, BG_NIR and TIR image sensors on the low cost UAV has proven to be more economical and efficient than previous vegetation survey methods that depend on satellites and aerial images, is expected to be used in areas such as precision agriculture, water and forest research.

  • Smart sensing plays a key role in a variety of IoT applications, and its importance is growing more and more together with the development of artificial intelligence. Therefore the importance of smart sensors cannot be overemphasized. However, most studies related to smart sensors have been focusing on specific application purposes, for example, security, energy saving, monitoring, and there are not much effort on researches on how to efficiently configure various types of smart sensors to be needed in the future. In this paper, a component-based framework with hierarchical structure for efficient construction of smart sensor is proposed and its application to smart home is designed and implemented. The proposed method shows that various types of smart sensors to be appeared in the near future can be configured through the design and development of necessary components within the proposed software framework. In addition, since it has a layered architecture, the configuration of the smart sensor can be expanded by inserting the internal or external layers. In particular, it is possible to independently design the internal and external modules when designing an IoT application service through connection with the external device layer. A small-scale smart home system is designed and implemented using the proposed method, and a home cloud operating as an external layer, is further designed to accommodate and manage multiple smart homes. By developing and thus adding the components of each layer, it will be possible to efficiently extend the range of applications such as smart cars, smart buildings, smart factories an so on.

  • Event-based service technology integrate service to detect events that occur in real time by analyzing the response. Is the core technology for real-time business and ubiquitous service environment construction. Is required event-based service technology on business processes in real-time business environment that providing rapid response to changing and custom service using a variety of information real-time monitoring and analysis in ubiquitous service environment. Last event-driven business processes can be used as a CEP(Complex Event Processing). The core of CEP technology, the event from multiple event sources analysis of events affecting and the way to handle action, is detect complex event to user. In previous studies, an event occurs that continue to perform without the need for partial operations. so many operations and spend a lot of memory is a problem. To solve these problems, event detection technique is proposed that large streams of data without processing any events, registered to configure a complex event occurs when all events in the application layer, complex event processing. The proposed method, first using a bitmap index to manage the event occurs. The complex events of the last event in response to define a trigger event. The occurrence of an event to display a bitmap index, a composite event occurrence of all event to configure the test through the point at which a trigger event occurs. Is proposed, If any event occurs to perform the operation. The proposed scheme perform operations when all event occurs without events having to perform each of the tests. As a result, avoid unnecessary operations and reducing the number of events to handle the increased efficiency of operations.

  • Wetland function assessment is not only a basic step to understand wetland ecosystems in detail but also an important process as a base of the term, ecosystem service to recognize wetland ecosystems as valuable and useful resources and goods for human being. WET (wetland evaluation technique), EMAP (environmental monitoring assessment program)-wetlands, and HGM (hydrogeomorphic method) were developed as pioneer wetland function assessments in U.S. at the end of $20^{th}$-century. RAMs (rapid assessment methods) became a major function assessment tool which is relatively simpler and easier assessment tool at the beginning of $21^{th}$-century. After that, the hierarchy of three levels of assessment (landscape assessment, rapid assessment, and intensive assesment) has been prepared and strategically utilized according to the objectives and purposes of function assessments. In South Korea, RAM and HGM were used to assess wetland functions with reforming a couple of items and contents at 2001. And, modified and reformed function assessments have been developed to complement and improve upon the existing RAMs and HGMs. Via the trend analysis on wetland function assessments, some needs which require supplements in terms of function assessment are pointed out: 1) wetland function assessments using useful indicators such as birds are needed with considering our environmental characteristics. 2) optimized wetland function assessments for coastal wetlands are also needed. 3) the network construction and further expansion to lead communications and co-operations between researchers and policy makers is needed in the field of wetland function assessment.

  • The purpose of this paper is to review the background and purpose of the special issue on Theory of Environment Geospatial Information and Its Applications in Korean Journal of Remote Sensing. The significance of the paper was also discussed. Environmental information refers to environment related information (literature, statistics, images, etc.) in a comprehensive manner. Such environmental information as a local change or issue of the environment is defined as environmental spatial information by developing in a spatial form. Remote sensing data is very useful as direct or indirect data including environmental spatial information on wide-area and local environment. Various applications will be possible not only in the environmental field through several improvements. For this purpose, first, refining and scientificization of technology to build environmental spatial information could be performed. Second, the application field can be expanded by developing the concept and contents of existing environmental spatial information. The third method is continuous increase of the application of existing environmental spatial information. In this paper, the direction of development was examined that reflects recent changes of environmental spatial information such as conversion of data formats and integration with ICT (Information and Communications Technologies). In particular, the basic technology for the construction of environmental spatial information was reviewed through various papers. Through the studies related to the above, utilization of domestic environmental spatial information would be diversified. Also, the development of environment policy and efficient management of environmental factors could be possible.
