  • Recommended seismic design guide for the flat bottom vertical-cylindrical oil storage tanks in KS B 6225 is presented. Under earthquake excitations, the hydrodynamic pressure exerted on the tank walls produces overturning moment which may cause either a failure of the anchors or a buckling of the tank shell near its base. The basis for establishing design loads due to hydrodynamic pressure is described including seismic zone risk map in Korea, zone coefficients and the essential facilities factor. This procedure for calculating applied compressive stress on the shell base subjecting to seismic load and for estimating the allowable buckling stress is described.

  • In this paper, an investigation was performed on the dynamic interlaminar fracture toughness of CFRP(carbon filber rein-forcement plastics). Specimens used in this experiments are CF/PEEK laminated plates. In this experiments, Split Hopkin-sons Bar(SHPE) tes was apply to dynamic and notched flexure test. The model II fracture toughness of each unidirectional CFRP was estimated by the analyzed deflection of the specimen and J-integral with the measured impulsive load and reac-tions at the supported points. As an experimental results the vibration amplitude of [$0^{\circ}_10 /F_4 0^{\circ}_10 $] j-aminates appear more than that of [$0^{\circ}_10 /F_2 0^{\circ}_10 $ laminates for the j-integral and displacement velocity at a measuring point. Also, it is thought that the dynamic fracture toughness of two kind specimen(CF/PEEK) with the crease of displacement velocity becomes great at a measuring point with in the range of measurement.

  • The damage curves for the 2-story shear building to the impulsive rectangular loads were established with the peak load and Impulse ratio producing the critical displacement. The convolution integrations with the Impulse response matrix and the loads were used to find the responses of the building. The impulse response matrix required in the calculations of the convolution integration were found with the mode superposition method It is shown from the established damage curves that the responses of the top and bottom floor are sensitive to the magnitude and the impulse of the loads respectively.

  • This study considers the buckling of orthotropic cylindrical thin shells with material nonhomogeneity in the thickness direction, under torsion, which is a power function of time. The dynamic stability and compatibility equations are obtained first. Applying Galerkin's method then applying Ritz type variational method to these equations and taking the large values of loading parameters into consideration, analytic solutions are obtained for critical parameter values. Using those results, the effects of the periodic and power variations of Young's moduli and density, ratio of Young's moduli variations, loading parameters variations and the power of time in the torsional load expression variations are studied via pertinent computations. It is concluded that all these factors contribute to appreciable effects on the critical parameters of the problem in question.

  • This research examined an immediate loading capable of providing a masticatory function and financial affordability while satisfying every requirement of a useful immediate loading. In this research, numerical value analysis was performed on couple-type posterior teeth implants developed by making up for the problems of extant implants. As a result of examining the effects of external impacts on extant implants and their deformation, relatively lager deformations separated from a molar were found concerning molar deformation implant with the maximum deformation level being approximately 1.657mm. In this research, the improved implant showed much improvement in terms of impact analysis in its deformation dispersion status after unloading the impulsive load from a punch. As for the case of hepf, about 1.657mm occurred but the improved model showed about 0.9217mm, exhibiting 55.6% advancement.

  • In this paper, an investigation was performed on the ModeII dynamic interlaminar fracture toughness of unidirectional CFRP laminates. The stacking sequences used in this experiment are two kinds of [$0_20$] and [$0_{10}F_20_{10}$]. In the experiments, Split Hopkinson's Bar test was applied to dynamic and notched flexure test. The Mode II fracture toughness of each unidirectional CFRP was estimated by the analyzed deflection of the specimen and J-Integral with the measured impulsive load and reactions at the supported points. As an experimental results, the specimen [$0_{10}F_20_{10}$] appears greater than that of [$0_20$] for the J-integral and displacement velocity at a measuring point within the range of experiment.

  • In this study, the break of the rotary blade which is occured from a stress concentration of the inside of blade by the outside impulsive load, is analyzed to 3-dimension used by the Freezing Photoelastic Method. These results are as follows. 1. The bending and compression stress are the greatest at the location of blade case. 2. The section area of 3cm-location from the blade case is the smallest, therefore, there are breaked 58% of all at this location and are proofed to the most danger section 3. The section area which by stress concentration of 3cm-location from blade case is caused by the production of blade, and it was higher danger of break than another location's. 4. In the location of 6cm and 9cm from the blade case, the bending stress has received a little and the section area has larger than another's, so it is not almost possible that the break at that location 5. In order to prevent of break, the external part which has contacted soil have to made tender for receiving a little stress and the internal part which received a large stress have to strengthen.

  • Concrete is a heterogeneous material exhibiting quasi-brittle behaviour. While homogenization of concrete is commonly accepted in general engineering applications, a detailed description of the material heterogeneity using a mesoscale model becomes desirable and even necessary for problems where drastic spatial and time variation of the stress and strain is involved, for example in the analysis of local damages under impact, shock or blast load. A mesoscale model can also assist in an investigation into the underlying mechanisms affecting the bulk material behaviour under various stress conditions. Extending from existing mesoscale model studies, where use is often made of specialized codes with limited capability in the material description and numerical solutions, this paper presents a mesoscale computational model developed under a general-purpose finite element environment. The aim is to facilitate the utilization of sophisticated material descriptions (e.g., pressure and rate dependency) and advanced numerical solvers to suit a broad range of applications, including high impulsive dynamic analysis. The whole procedure encompasses a module for the generation of concrete mesoscale structure; a process for the generation of the FE mesh, considering two alternative schemes for the interface transition zone (ITZ); and the nonlinear analysis of the mesoscale FE model with an explicit time integration approach. The development of the model and various associated computational considerations are discussed in this paper (Part 1). Further numerical studies using the mesoscale model for both quasi-static and dynamic loadings will be presented in the companion paper (Part 2).
