  • In this paper, we proposes a D-STTD(Double-Space Time Transmit Diversity) communication system with AMC scheme and analyzes its performance using simulation experiments. The AMC scheme selects an optimal channel coding rate and modulation scheme based on the channel response data for signal transmission, creating a balance between error rate and throughput to improve the overall system throughput and transmission quality. The D-STTD scheme complements the conventional STTD(Space Time Transmit Diversity) scheme, yielding about twice the throughput. The simulation results show that the probability of selecting a high MCS(Modulation and Coding Scheme) level increased as the SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) improved. Furthermore, the D-STTD communication system with AMC scheme provided a more uniform throughput distribution throughout the entire SNR range compared to its counterpart which did not apply AMC scheme. Also, the maximum throughput of the D-STTD communication system with AMC scheme was twice that of a conventional AMC communication system or a STTD communication system with AMC scheme.

  • Lin and Chan proposed a reversible secret image sharing scheme in 2010. The advantages of their scheme are as follows: the low distortion ratio, high embedding capacity of shadow images and usage of the reversible. However, their scheme has some problems. First, the number of participants is limited because of modulus prime number m. Second, the overflow can be occurred by additional operations (quantized value and the result value of polynomial) in the secret sharing procedure. Finally, if the coefficient of (t-1)th degree polynomial become zero, (t-1) participants can access secret data. In this paper, an improved reversible secret image sharing scheme which solves the problems of Lin and Chan's scheme while provides the low distortion ratio and high embedding capacity is proposed. The proposed scheme solves the problems that are a limit of a total number of participants, and occurrence of overflow by new polynomial operation over GF($2^8$). Also, it solve problem that the coefficient of (t-1)th degree polynomial become zero by fixed MSB 4-bit constant. In the experimental results, PSNR of their scheme is decreased with the increase of embedding capacity. However, even if the embedding capacity increase, PSNR value of about 45dB or more is maintained uniformly in the proposed scheme.

  • An improved stationary frame-based digital current control technique for a permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motor is presented. Generally, the stationary frame current controller is known to provide the advantage of a simple implementation. However, there are some unavoidable limitations such as a steady-state error and a phase delay in the steady-state. On the other hand, in the synchronous frame current regulator, the regulated currents are dc quantities and a zero steady-state error can be obtained through the integral control. However, the need to transform the signals between the stationary and synchronous frames makes the implementation of a synchronous frame regulator complex. Although the PI controller in the stationary frame gives a steady-state error and a phase delay, the control performance can be greatly improved by employing the exact decoupling control inputs for the back EMF, resulting in an ideal steady-state control characteristics irrespective of an operating condition as in the synchronous PI decoupling controller. However, its steady-state response may be degraded due to the inexact cancellation inputs under the parameter variations. To improve the control performance in the stationary frame, the disturbance is estimated using the time delay control. The proposed scheme is implemented on a PM synchronous motor using DSP TMS320C31 and the effectiveness is verified through the comparative simulations and experiments.

  • This article presents clean core criticality calculations and control rod worth calculations for TRIGA (Training, Research, Isotope production-General Atomics) Mark II research reactor benchmark cores using Winfrith Improved Multi-group Scheme-D/4 (WIMS-D/4) and Program for Reactor In-core Analysis using Diffusion Equation (PRIDE) codes. Cores 133 and 134 were analyzed in 2-D (r, ${\theta}$) and 3-D (r, ${\theta}$, z), using WIMS-D/4 and PRIDE codes. Moreover, the influence of cross-section data was also studied using various libraries based on Evaluated Nuclear Data File (ENDF/B-VI.8 and VII.0), Joint Evaluated Fission and Fusion File (JEFF-3.1), Japanese Evaluated Nuclear Data Library (JENDL-3.2), and Joint Evaluated File (JEF-2.2) nuclear data. The simulation results showed that the multiplication factor calculated for all these data libraries is within 1% of the experimental results. The reactivity worth of the control rods of core 134 was also calculated with different homogenization approaches. A comparison was made with experimental and reported Monte Carlo results, and it was found that, using proper homogenization of absorber regions and surrounding fuel regions, the results obtained with PRIDE code are significantly improved.

  • This paper presents an improved predictive control of an induction machine fed by a matrix converter using N-switching vectors as the control action during a complete sampling period of the controller. The conventional model predictive control scheme based matrix converter uses a single switching vector over the same period which introduces high torque ripple. The proposed switching scheme for a matrix converter based model predictive control of an induction machine drive selects the appropriate switching vectors for control of electromagnetic torque with small variations of the stator flux. The proposed method can reduce the ripple of the electrical variables by selecting the switching state as well as the method used in the space vector modulation techniques. Simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the improved predictive control strategy for induction machine fed by a matrix converter.

  • In this paper, we analyze a recently proposed semi-fragile watermarking scheme based on local binary pattern (LBP) operators, and note that it has a fundamental flaw in the design. In this work, a binary watermark is embedded into image blocks by modifying the neighborhood pixels according to the LBP pattern. However, different image blocks might have the same LBP pattern, which can lead to false detection in watermark extraction process. In other words, one can modify the host image intentionally without affecting its watermark message. In addition, there is no encryption process before watermark embedding, which brings another potential security problem. To illustrate its weakness, two special copy-paste attacks are proposed in this paper, and several experiments are conducted to prove the effectiveness of these attacks. To solve these problems, an improved semi-fragile watermarking based on LBP operators is presented. In watermark embedding process, the central pixel value of each block is taken into account and Arnold transform is adopted to guarantee the security of watermark. Experimental results show that the improved watermarking scheme can overcome the above defects and locate the tampered region effectively.

  • This paper investigates the improved outage probability of correlated superposition coding(CSC)/non-successive interference cancellation(SIC) non-orthogonal multiple access(NOMA) scheme. For this, first, we calculate the outage probability of the conventional independent superposition coding(ISC)/SIC NOMA scheme. Then, simulations demonstrate that the outage probability of CSC/non-SIC NOMA improves greatly, with respect to that of conventional ISC/SIC NOMA. As a result, CSC/non-SIC NOMA schemes could be a promising technique in 5G networks, especially with such improved outage probability.

  • Security in wireless sensor networks is very pressing especially when sensor nodes are deployed in hostile environments. To obtain security purposes, it is essential to be able to encrypt and authenticate messages sent amongst sensor nodes. Keys for encryption and authentication must be agreed upon by communicating nodes. Due to resource limitations and other unique features, obtaining such key agreement in wireless sensor network is extremely complex. Many key agreement schemes used in general networks, such as trusted server, Diffie-Hellman and public-key based schemes, are not suitable for wireless sensor networks [1], [2], [5], [7], [8]. In that situation, key pre-distribution scheme has been emerged and considered as the most appropriate scheme [2], [5], [7]. Based on that sense, we propose a new resource-optimal key pre-distribution scheme utilizing merits of the two existing key pre-distribution schemes [3], [4]. Our scheme exhibits the fascinating properties: substantial improvement in sensors' resource usage, rigorous guarantee of successfully deriving pairwise keys between any pair of nodes, greatly improved network resiliency against node capture attack. We also present a detailed analysis in terms of security and resource usage of the scheme.

  • The skyline of a multidimensional data set is the maximal subset whose elements are not dominated by other elements of the set. Skyline computation is considered to be very useful for a decision making system that deals with multidimensional data analyses. Recently, a great deal of interests has been shown to improve the performance of skyline computation algorithms. In order to speedup, the number of comparisons between data elements should be reduced. In this paper, we propose a filter lining scheme to accomplish such objectives. The scheme divides the multidimensional data space into angle-based partitions, and places a filter for each partition, and then connects them together in order to establish the final filter line. The filter line can be used to eliminate data, that are not part of the skyline, from the original data set in the preprocessing stage. The filter line is adaptively improved during the data scanning stage. In addition, skylines are computed for each remaining data partition, and are then merged to form the final skyline. Our scheme is an improvement of the previously reported simple preprocessing scheme using simple filters. The performance of the scheme is shown by experiments.
