Drag reduction is significant research in aircraft design due to its effect on the cost of operation and carbon footprint reduction. Aircraft currently use conventional solid winglets to reduce the induced drag, adding extra structural weight. Fluidic on-demand winglets can effectively reduce drag for low-speed flight regimes without adding any extra weight. These utilize the spanwise airflow from the wingtips using hydraulic actuators to create jets that negate tip vortices. This study develops a computational model to investigate fluidic on-demand winglets. The well-validated computational model is applied to investigate the effect of injection velocity and angle on the aerodynamic coefficients of a rectangular wing. Further, the turbulence parameters such as turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) and turbulent dissipation rate are studied in detail at various velocity injections and at an angle of 30°. The results show that the increase in injection velocity shifted the vortex core away from the wing tip and the increase in injection angle shifted the vortex core in the vertical direction. Further, it was found that a 30° injection is efficient among all injection velocities and highly efficient at a velocity ratio of 3. This technology can be adopted in any aircraft, effectively working at various angles of attack. The culmination of this study is that the implementation of fluidic winglets leads to a significant reduction in drag at low speeds for low aspect ratio wings.
In this paper, we propose a smart umbrella stand based on the Internet of Things (IoT) that helps people to pack their umbrellas more easily. The proposed smart umbrella stand offers three functions. First, it receives weather information, and a hidden umbrella handle will automatically become visible when it rains, making it easier to grab. Second, the smart umbrella stand is equipped with a heated air system, allowing it to effectively dry umbrellas that have become wet due to rain. This makes it more convenient for users to dry and store their rain-soaked umbrellas. Third, the smart umbrella stand enables users to monitor its current status, track weather conditions, and monitor the water level in the rain gutter through a dedicated application. The proposed smart umbrella stand aims to bring convenience to daily life by making it more convenient to carry an umbrella on rainy days or days with a high probability of rain.

In this paper, we implement a control system for an IoT-based backpack type vacuum cleaner using a smart device such as a smart phone or smart watch. The implementation system consists of control module produces, control module programming, and smart device programming. The control module is made of Arduino Nano, HM-10 BLE(Bluetooth Low Energy) module and relays as basic parts. The smart device exchanges signals with the control module via bi-directional BLE communication, which allows it to control the start/stop of the vacuum cleaner. Backpack type vacuum cleaners are effective for cleaning high places that require the use of ladders. However, it is often necessary to take off the backpack type cleaner to start/stop it. The IoT-based vacuum cleaner control system implemented in this paper fundamentally solves the problem by allowing users to control the start/stop of the vacuum cleaner without taking it off.
The core of the foreign policy of the Yoon Suk-yeol government is the promotion of active economic and security diplomacy as indicated in Policy Tasks No. 98. To this end, economic consultative bodies such as Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement(RCEP), Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), and Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) are taking the initiative to respond to the formation of supply chain, human rights, environment, and digital-related norms, and actively support Korean companies' overseas expansion. Due to the nature of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) as an organization established centered on the space of the ocean, the MOF faces difficulties in bringing the functions of other ministries into the space of the ocean. Considering the vision, objectives, and detailed plans of the MOF, the contribution of the MOF in the field of active economic security, one of the main foreign policies of the Yoon Suk-yeol government, is perhaps too obvious. However, since the re-launch of the MOF, the ODA budget for the oceans and fisheries sector is too small compared to other ministries, so even if new policy demands are discovered, there are many difficulties in implementing these policies in practice. Recognizing these problems, this paper examines the background and contents of foreign policies that have been promoted for the efficient promotion of RCEP, CPTPP and IPEF and introduces the areas of cooperation in the oceans and fisheries sector in these foreign policies.
The brain-machine interface(BMI) is a next-generation interface that controls the device by decoding brain waves(also called Electroencephalogram, EEG), EEG is a electrical signal of nerve cell generated when the BMI user thinks of a command. The brain-machine interface can be applied to various smart devices, but complex computational process is required to decode the brain wave signal. Therefore, it is difficult to implement a brain-machine interface in an embedded system implemented in the form of an edge device. In this study, we proposed a new type of brain-machine interface system using IoT technology that only measures EEG at the edge device and stores and analyzes EEG data in the cloud computing. This system successfully performed quantitative EEG analysis for the brain-machine interface, and the whole data transmission time also showed a capable level of real-time processing.
This study conducted in-depth interviews with experts to implement Hanbok shows on metaverse, which can contribute to the succession and development of Hanbok design and to establish a platform that fits the reality of the Hanbok industry and consumers. In-depth interviews were conducted to collect opinions from experts, and the derived contents were divided and analyzed using an affinity diagram. Experts were positive about the use of the metaverse platform of the Hanbok show in terms of impact, accessibility, exposure, virtual fitting, issuance of NFTs, and promotion of Hanbok brands. As a result of verifying the validity of the four components of metaverse, experts highly evaluated the possibility of using Hanbok shows in the order of virtual reality, augmented reality, mirror world, and lifelogging. Visuality, influence, marketing efficiency in virtual reality, immersion in augmented reality, fantasy and artistic elements, expression, diversity, and abundant experiences were expected. The platform's requirements emphasized realistic implementation equipment and technology, collaboration between Hanbok designers and producers, in addition to government support. Results of this study showed that appropriate target was analyzed to be in the 10-30s, and the appropriate price range was found to be able to sell at a discount of 40-80% compared to offline. This study provides useful implications for the service development of metaverse content, which will also be actively used in the Hanbok field, and can be used as basic data for reviving the Korean Hanbok industry and strengthening international competitiveness.
Digital transformation demands significant and foundational alterations in an organization's structure, processes, business strategy, and communication from a managerial perspective. However, one of the crucial prerequisites for a successful transition is the digital proficiency of its members. Students studying Management of Technology without a prior background in engineering face the difficult challenge of improving both their business management skills and digital competency within a limited time frame. For this reason, effective IT competency education methods are emerging as one of the educational issues in technology management. This paper showcases the IT-focused curriculum revision process of Sogang University's Graduate School of Management of Technology, along with the outcomes of its implementation thus far, as a demonstration of addressing the questions of "what to teach" and "how to teach" for students who could potentially become leaders in guiding the digital transformation. The purpose of this paper, specifically, is to offer a prior reference for the operation direction of effective programming education for students in Management of Technology graduate schools through a discussion on the feedback results of the required fundamental programming course which acts as both the starting point and entry hurdle.
Starting from the 4th industrial revolution, core technologies were applied to industries to build various smart environments. Smart factories in the manufacturing industry produce high-quality products by applying IIoT as a core technology that can collect and control a wide range of data for customized production. However, the network environment of the smart factory converted to open through IIoT was exposed to various security risks. In accordance with security breaches, IIoT has shown degradation in the quality of manufactured products and production processes due to network disturbance, use and maintenance of forged IIoT, and can cause reliability problems in business. Accordingly, in this study, a method for safe connection and utilization of IIoT was studied during the initial establishment of a smart factory. Specifically, a study was conducted to check the IIoT connection situation so that the practicality of the IIoT connected to the smart factory could be confirmed and the harmless environment established.
Recently, digital contents including video and sound are created in various fields, transmitted to the cloud through the Internet, and then stored and used. In order to utilize digital content, it is essential to verify data integrity, and it is necessary to ensure network bandwidth efficiency of verified data. This paper describes the design and implementation of a server that maintains, manages, and provides data for verifying the integrity of video data. The server receives and stores image data from Logger, a module that acquires image data, and performs a function of providing data necessary for verification to Verifier, a module that verifies image data. Then, a lightweight Merkle tree is constructed using the hash value. The light-weight Merkle tree can quickly detect integrity violations without comparing individual hash values of the corresponding video frame changes of the video frame indexes of the two versions. A lightweight Merkle tree is constructed by generating a hash value of digital content so as to have network bandwidth efficiency, and the result of performing proof of integrity verification is presented.
