  • This article concerns a profit model in a repair limit replacement problem with imperfect repair. If a system fails, we should decide whether we repair the failed system (repair option) or replace it by new one (replacement option with a lead time). We assume that repair times are random variables and can be estimated before repair with estimation error. If the estimated repair time is less than the specified limit (repair time limit), the failed unit is repaired but the unit after repair is different from the new one (imperfect repair). Otherwise, we order a new unit to replace the failed unit. The long run average profit (expected profit rate) is used as an optimization criterion and the optimal repair time limit maximizes the expected profit rate. Some special cases are derived.

  • Maintenance models involving minimal imperfect repair frequently appear in the literature of reliability and operations research. Most of the literatures concerning the stochastic behavior of repairable systems assume that it takes negligible time to repair a failed system and so the length of repair time does not affect the maintenance strategy. It is more realistic to consider the length of repair times in developing maintenance model, however. In this paper, we consider an imperfect repair model with random repair time and investigate some stochastic properties of the number of perfect repairs and the number of minimal repairs. Also we derive the expressions for evaluating the expected numbers of perfect and minimal repairs in general and apply these formulas for certain parametric life distributions.

  • There is a existing study dealing with the case that the effect of preventive maintenances to restore the door system is imperfect. When the effect of the preventive maintenance is imperfect, we need to consider the maintenance effect for making reliable and economical maintenance policies. The maintenance policies applicable for imperfect maintenance cases are considered and their effectiveness are evaluated through simulation in cases of passenger door system:PDS.

  • In this paper, the capacity for the reverse link of the imperfect power controlled DS/CDMA hierarchical cellular system is analyzed considering imperfect sectorization in shadowing environment. Unlike the theoretical assumption, the power control of the DS/CDMA hierarchical cellular system is not perfect. Therefore, we consider various parameters such as the imperfect power control, the imperfect sectorization, the processing gain and the number of microcell interferers, which cause the capacity variation of the DS/CDMA hierarchical cellular system. It is shown that the capacity of DS/CDMA hierarchical cellular system is decreased according to the increase of the deviation of the imperfect power control, the overlapped angle, the power ratio between macrocell and microcell and to the decrease of processing gain, the number of microcell interfering users. Also, it is observed that the hierarchical cellular system can increase the user capacity from 1.54 to 3.89 times compared to the homogeneous macro-cellular system.

  • The software reliability growth model(SRGM) has been developed in order to estimate such reliability measures as remaining fault number, failure rate and reliability for the developing stage software. Almost of them assumed that the faults detected during testing were evetually removed. Namely, they have studied SRGM based on the assumption that the faults detected during testing were perfectly removed. The fault removing efficiency. however. IS imperfect and it is widely known as so in general. It is very difficult to remove detected fault perfectly because the fault detecting is not easy and new error may be introduced during debugging and correcting. Therefore, the fault detecting efficiency may influence the SRGM or cost of developing software. It is a very useful measure for the developing software. much helpful for the developer to evaluate the debugging efficiency, and, moreover, help to additional workloads necessary. Therefore. it is very important to evaluate the effect of imperfect dubugging in point of SRGM and cost. and may influence the optimal release time and operational budget. I extent and study the generally used reliability and cost models to the imperfect debugging range in this paper.

  • In this paper, we consider an amplify-and-forward (AF) full-duplex relay network (FDRN) using simultaneous wireless information and power transfer, where a battery-free relay node harvests energy from the received radio frequency (RF) signals from a source node and uses the harvested energy to forward the source information to destination node. The time-switching relaying (TSR) protocol is studied, with the assumption that the channel state information (CSI) at the relay node is imperfect. We deliver a rigorous analysis of the outage probability of the proposed system. Based on the outage probability expressions, the optimal time switching factor are obtained via the numerical search method. The simulation and numerical results provide practical insights into the effect of various system parameters, such as the time switching factor, the noise power, the energy harvesting efficiency, and the channel estimation error on the performance of this network. It is also observed that for the imperfect CSI case, the proposed scheme still can provide acceptable outage performance given that the channel estimation error is bounded in a permissible interval.

  • An important problem in reliability analysis for repairable systems is to model the maintenance effect. The most of researches have assumed two extreme cases; one is perfect maintenance and the other is minimal maintenance. However, many of maintenances performed by domestic subway operators are imperfect maintenances which have the effect between both of two extreme cases. This article deals with the problem determining the imperfect preventive maintenance intervals based on failure data in units of the PDS(passenger door system) in Metro EMU. This paper deals with a case study on determining imperfect maintenance interval by using the level of maintenance effect through reliability analysis of PDS.

  • This paper deals with a precoder design method when the system has imperfect channel information. When MIMO relay system knows the correlation coefficient between perfect channel and imperfect channel information and the variance of the difference between perfect channel and correlated imperfect channel, source and relay precoders are designed to maximize the upper bound of the channel capacity. Also, we investigate channel capacities of the system using proposed precoder and compare with the optimal value according to the correlation and the variance of error channel by simulations.

  • By the significant structural change in 1999, a partial privatization has occurred in Korean fossil-fuel power generation sector. Under the current price scheme wholesale electricity price is dependent on output size, and hence, may not satisfy the assumption of price-taking producers. The purpose of our study is constructing the productivity change measurements of Korean power generation sector taking into account possibly imperfect competition and variable returns to scale. Our approach based on Harrison (1994) and Levinsohn (1993) derives the plant-level productivity measurements of the period between 2001 and 2007, as well as the measurements of mark-ups and returns to scale. It is shown that the mark-up size is dependent on the plants' fuel type and is decreasing over time. Allowing for imperfect competition and variable returns to scale adjusts the productivity measurements substantially.

  • Asexual spores of Mycosphaerella nawae were profusely produced on PDA after a prolonged incubation at $25^{\circ}C$ for 90 days. When persimmon trees were artificially inoculated by the conidial suspension, typical symptoms of circular leaf spot of persimmon appeared on the leaves two month later. The imperfect stag of the fungus was identified as Ramularia sp. based on following morphological characteristics examined under a light microscope and a scanning electron microscope. Conidia were mostly ellipsoid, but occasionally cylindrical, elongated oval, taro, peanut or gourd shapes and measured as 12.2~32.6$\times$6.1~10.2 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. erect, hyaline, colorless-light brown. Conidia were formed solitarily or in chains on a medium and infected leaves. Conidiophore was erect, hyaline, colorless-light brown. and the size was 20.4~102.0$\times$3.1~10.2 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, respectively. In this paper, we firstly demonstratrated that asexual spores of M. nawae induced persimmon circular leaf spot in nature as well as sexual spores of the fungus. Therefore, it is hypothesized that the imperfect stage of the fungus plays an important role in nature for epidemics as secondary inoculum.
