  • An automotive windshield wiper system is modeled mainly for vibration analysis purpose. The model is composed of solid links, ideal joints, imperfect joints to simulate unavoidable manufacturing defects and bushings having stiffness, contact between a wiper blade and a wind screen glass, friction, a spring and an actuator. Main stream of wiper dynamics analysis has been obtaining a closed form of system of equations using Newton's or Lagrange's formula and doing a numerical simulation study to understand and predict the behavior of it. However, the modeling process is complex since a wiper system is of multibody and a contact problem occurs. When imperfection, such as dead zone of a joint and stiffness of a rubber bushing, should be included, the added complexity makes the modeling difficult. Since the imperfection is understood as main cause of problematic vibration, the dynamics model of a wiper system aiming vibration analysis should include such unavoidable manufacturing defects in the model. An open form of dynamic model of a automotive windshield wiper system with imperfect joints using a commercial software is obtained and a simulation analyssis is conducted for vibration reduction study.

  • The aim of this work is to develop a new computational program to determine the effect of using the gas of propulsion of combustion chamber at high temperature on the shape of the two-dimensional Minimum Length Nozzle giving a uniform and parallel flow at the exit section using the method of characteristics. The selected gases are $H_2$, $O_2$, $N_2$, CO, $CO_2$, $H_2O$, $NH_3$, $CH_4$ and air. All design parameters depend on the stagnation temperature, the exit Mach number and the used gas. The specific heat at constant pressure varies with the temperature and the selected gas. The gas is still considered as perfect. It is calorically imperfect and thermally perfect below the threshold of dissociation of molecules. A error calculation between the parameters of different gases with air is done in this case for purposes of comparison. Endless forms of nozzles may be found based on the choise of $T_0$, $M_E$ and the selected gas. For nozzles delivering same exit Mach number with the same stagnation temperature, we can choose the right gas for aerospace manufacturing rockets, missiles and supersonic aircraft and for supersonic blowers as needed in settings conception.

  • It is hard to obtain good robust performance and robust stability for uncertain and time-varying system. The robust 2-DOF controller is frequently used to obtain the desired response and the good robustness. Two controllers can be independently designed. Generally, one controller reduces sensitivity to parameter variations, nonlinear effects, and other disturbances. On the other hand, the other controller reduces the error between the desired command and output. In this paper, the various robust perfect MFCs(model-following controllers) combined with TDC(Time Delay Control) are designed, and the imperfect stable MFC combined with TDC and SMC(Sliding Mode Control) is proposed. These controllers are based on the method of designing robust 2-DOF controllers for dynamic system with uncertainty. The performance of the proposed imperfect sable MFC has been evaluated through computer simulations. The simulation results indicate that the proposed controller shows the excellent performance characteristics for an overhead crane with uncertain and time-varying parameters.

  • The primary cause of air pollution by vehicles is imperfect combustion of fuel. One of the most usual causes of this imperfect combustion is the misfire in IC(Intenal Combustion) engine. Recently it is obligated for an ECU to monitor the emission level and warn the driver in case of exceeding specified emission standards. Therefore, in order to comply with this OBD-II regulations, car makers are investing a considerable amount into technology which would enable the detection of misfire and the particular cylinder in which misfire is taking place. So far, it has been able to detect misfire using engine speed, which can be obtained crank angle. However, such a method posed a problem in analyzing at high speed and in recognizing the misfire from the load impact at bumpy road. In this paper, misfire detection is made possible by simple arithmetic using WDFT, especially at high engine speed. In addition, the moving window method of a Walsh function is applied to determine the cylinders under misfire in case of multiple misfires. An actual experiment was conducted to prove that WDFT is applicable to effective in computation speed and to same result in misfire detection and cylinder determination at idle, part load and bumpy road conditions.

  • Reed-Solomon code, block interleaving and SI (side information) are frequently used in SFH (slow frequency hopping) system. Erasing those symbols in the hit frequency slot greatly increases the error connection capacity. Packet error rate has been the major performance measure for SFH system. The analysis of BER has been limited to the case of perfect Sl, in which neither miss nor false alarm exists. BER with imperfect Sl has been obtained only by Monte Carlo simulation. In this paper, we present a unified solution to estimate BER with imperfect Sl. It is shown that previous formulae for packet error rate or BER with perfect Sl are special cases in the proposed solution. The computed BER with false alarm and miss of frequency hit is verified by comparing with the simulation result.

  • Applying Markov Stochastic Process theory, this paper attempts to suggest a tentative model explaining how private information may cause bargaining delay. It is shown that the bargaining delay is critically dependent on the specification of information. It turns out that the delay tends to be longer in bargaining where information is imperfect. This means that bargaining models frequently can have an infinite delay under imperfect information while they have finite delay of bargaining before reaching the agreements if information is perfect. Other interesting result is that bargaining delay may depend on who makes the offer first. And it is also shown that bargaining tends to end earlier if both players (seller and buyer) can make offers in turn than the case where only one side make a offer.

  • Radio spectrum is a precious resource and characterized by fixed allocation policy. However, a large portion of the allocated radio spectrum is underutilized. Conversely, the rapid development of ubiquitous wireless technologies increases the demand for radio spectrum. Cognitive Radio (CR) methodologies have been introduced as a promising approach in detecting the white spaces, allowing the unlicensed users to use the licensed spectrum thus realizing Dynamic Spectrum Access (DSA) in an effective manner. This paper proposes a generalized framework for DSA between the licensed (primary) and unlicensed (secondary) users based on Continuous Time Markov Chain (CTMC) model. We present a spectrum access scheme in the presence of sensing errors based on CTMC which aims to attain optimum spectrum access probabilities for the secondary users. The primary user occupancy is identified by spectrum sensing algorithms and the sensing errors are captured in the form of false alarm and mis-detection. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed spectrum access scheme in terms of the throughput attained by the secondary users, throughput optimization using optimum access probabilities, probability of interference with increasing number of secondary users. The efficacy of the algorithm is analyzed for both imperfect spectrum sensing and perfect spectrum sensing.

  • In this paper, I attempt to define the semantics of cikum 'now' in Korean. To define it precisely, we need to look at how it interacts with different aspectual classes of verbs and with the semantics of tenses and aspects. In doing this we need to define the semantics of tenses and aspects. Here we run into the question of whether ess is a tense marker or an aspect marker. I assume that it is ambiguous. There are still cases where it is not clear whether ess is used as a tense marker or an aspect marker in an actual sentence. I discuss two such cases: one in which it is used with verbs like tochakha 'arrive' which have no salient resulting states, and one in which a state verb is used with cikum-kkaci 'until now'. The semantics of cikum can be defined differently depending on whether ess is a tense or an aspect. By discussing ko iss, which is an imperfect marker, I conclude that cikum means ${\lambda}P{\lambda}i[u{\subseteq}i{\wedge}P(i)]$, that is, a relation between a set of times which include an utterance time and a set of properties of times.

  • Most of the proposed SRGMs are required to perfect debugging based on removal of defect as soon as the detection of defects in system tests. But the detected defects are corrected after few days as a fixed time or induced new fault in software under the imperfect debugging environments. Solving these problems, we discussed that the formal software reliability model considered testing-effort for the fault detection and correction of software defects, and then using this model we have estimated of the software reliability closed to practical conditions.

  • In this letter, we evaluate the system performance of a space-time block coded (STBC) multicarrier (MC) DS-CDMA system over a time selective fading channel, with imperfect channel knowledge. The average bit error rate impairment due to imperfect channel information is investigated by taking into account the effect of the STBC position. We consider two schemes: STBC after spreading and STBC before spreading in the MC DS-CDMA system. In the scheme with STBC after spreading, STBC is performed at the chip level; in the scheme with STBC before spreading, STBC is performed at the symbol level. We found that these two schemes have various channel estimation errors, and that the system with STBC before spreading is more sensitive to channel estimation than the system with STBC after spreading. Furthermore, derived results prove that a high spreading factor (SF) in the MC DS-CDMA system with STBC before spreading leads to high channel estimation error, whereas for a system with STBC after spreading this statement is not true.
