  • In order to fabricate the multilayer piezoelectric transformer by tape casting method, we investigated the effect of $TiO_2$ and PZT powder additions on the Ag/Pd electrode. Meanwhile, effects of $TiO_2$ and PZT powder additives on the microstructure and electrical properties of Ag/Pd electrode were investigated in detail. In addition, the multilayer piezoelectric transformers were fabricated and the characteristics with various load resistance were measured at resonance frequency. The voltage step-up ratio was continuously change with increasing input voltage and load resistance, and then output voltage and powers were increased with increasing input voltage at matching impedance. The temperature rise of multilayer piezoelectric transformers were increased with increasing input voltage and load resistance. Meanwhile, multilayer piezoelectric transformers sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ show the favorable characteristics with a power of 15 W at $100\;{\Omega}$.

  • The receiving responses of a bistatic GPR system are analyzed by using three-dimensional FDTD method and equivalent network model. The conventional delta-gap feed model may be inaccurate because of neglecting the impedance matching characteristics between the antenna and the transmission line. In this paper, the feed model is improved by considering the physical characteristics of the actual GPR. The actually received voltage is calculated by employing the equivalent network model in angular frequency-domain, which is composed by using the results of three-dimensional FDTD analysis for an actual bistatic GPR system. The validity of the presented model is assured by showing the convergence of the computed results to the measured data.

  • Arc Fault Current is an electric discharge which is occurred in two opposite electrode. In this paper, arc current control algorithm is designed for the interruption of arc fault current which is occurred in the local electric network. This arc is one of the main causes of electric fire. Arc fault in electrical network has the characteristics of low current, high impedance and high frequency. Conventional arc current controller does not have the arc current interrupt function. Hence, Controller of arc current is designed for the interruption of arc fault current which has the modified arc characteristics.

  • A general equivalent circuit model is developed for a wireless energy transfer system composed of multiple coils via coupled magnetic resonances. To verify the developed model, four types of wireless energy transfer systems are fabricated, measured, and compared with simulation results. To model a system composed of n-coils, node equations are built in the form of an n-by-n matrix, and the equivalent circuit model is established using an electric design automation tool. Using the model, we can simulate systems with multiple coils, power sources, and loads. Moreover, coupling constants are extracted as a function of the distance between two coils, and we can predict the characteristics of a system having coils at an arbitrary location. We fabricate four types of systems with relay coils, two operating frequencies, two power sources, and the function of characteristic impedance conversion. We measure the characteristics of all systems and compare them with the simulation results. The flexibility of the developed model enables us to design and optimize a complicated system consisting of many coils.

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated wideband 3-axis isotropic antenna for the Electro-Magnetic Fields(EMFs) measurement. Each part of proposed 3-axis antenna has isotropic characteristics and arbitrary axis of proposed 3-axis antenna could be selectable using RF switch. Also, a resistor was inserted in each axis of proposed 3-axis antenna for improving antenna gain and noise suppression characteristics, and port impedance of each dipole antenna were matched by balun. For the performance verification of antenna, GTEM Cell which generates standard electromagnetic field was used for the derivation of antenna factor and receiver sensitivity. As a result, fabricated 3-axis isotropic antenna has receiver sensitivity of 0.12~4.2 mV/m and typical VSWR of 3.3:1 within a wide operation frequency range from 0.03 MHz to 3 GHz.

  • As the feature size of integrated circuits continues to decrease, the challenge of achieving an oxidation-free exposed layer after photoresist (PR) stripping is becoming a critical issue for semiconductor device fabrication. In this article, the hydrogen plasma characteristics in direct plasma and the PR stripping rate in remote plasma were studied using a $120{\Phi}$ cylindrical inductively coupled plasma source. E mode, H mode and E-H mode transitions were observed, which were defined by matching the $V_{rms}$ and total impedance. In addition, the dependence of the E-H mode transition on pressure was examined and the corresponding plasma instability regions were identified. The plasma density and electron temperature increased gradually under the same process conditions. In contrast, the PR stripping rate decreased with increasing proportion of $H_2$ gas in mixed $H_2/N_2$ plasma. The decrease in concentration of reactive radicals for the removal of PR with increasing $H_2$ gas flow rate suggests that NH radicals have a dominant effect as the main volatile product.

  • The dielectric effects of plastic packages on GaAs($\varepsilon$$_{r}$=13) MMIC microstrip characteristics are analyzed using the spectral domain method (SDM). As being packaged by typical FR-4 composites ($\varepsilon$$_{r}$=14.2) for PCB substrates and plastic packages, the characteristic impedance is reduced by about 6 %, but the effective dielectric constant is increased by 13 % from those of bare microstrip, respectively. The parasitic effects of the packaging materials can greatly degrade the performance of the packaged MMIC. We also calculated the optimum microstrip width, which maintains the 50 $\Omega$ matching condition after plastic packaging. These calculated results can be used to optimize the plastic packages, and extend the application ranges for low cost MMIC production.n.

  • Vibration assisted cutting (VAC) is one of the promising methods for precision machining, which has been normally equipped with piezoelectric materials. In this paper, a feasibility of applying magnetostrictive materials to VAC as a cutting device instead of piezoelectric materials was studied. For this, the vibrational characteristics of a magnetostrictive material was investigated with respect to a coil design, a preload, and the effects of a biasing and an exciting magnetic fields. The output strain of a magnetostrictive material is restricted due to an increasing inductive impedance as the exciting frequency increases and the heat of coil, etc. Through the experimental results, it was found that the biasing and the exciting magnetic field affected the output performance significantly but not the preload. In conclusion, the magnetostrictive material could be used only in the low frequency range but not a good candidate for high frequency actuating application.

  • This paper describes the measurement and analysis of the basic line constants in PLC(Power Line Communication) in the residential building. An apartment is considered as one of the conventional residences to get the line constants in this paper, Agilent 4263B LCR Meter is used to measure the detailed values each area and the specific results and averaged analysis data are shown in the tables. The measured results are a little bit different from the calculated values using conventional formula due to the line arrangement, neglected factors, complex permittivity, and etc. This paper describes many kinds of lines and wiring figures of domestic construction. It can be utilized with the analyzed line characteristics in frequency domain as a planning reference of PLC.
