  • In this study, the variations of transformed impact factors and load carrying capacity of highway bridges measured from the state of expansion joint are evaluated. the field loading tests were performed on the highway bridge with damaged expansion joint to investigate the variation of the load carrying capacity. From the field loading tests in case that damaged expansion joint exist or do not exist, the static displacements and dynamic displacements were measured, and TIF were calculated, respectively. dynamic test is performed in order to estimate dynamic displacement and TIF according to the level of damage of expansion joint. From the results of TIF, the load carrying capacity of highway bridges with damaged expansion joint were estimated.

  • A comparative analysis of wear resistance and shock resistance tests shows that wear resistance is up to 6 times and at least 2 times higher wear resistance than current products, even considering the limited number of turns due to too much rotation. In the case of shock resistance, there was no problem except 7.5T, but this is only a result of KS test method, so it is deemed that additional fall impact tests by various objects in daily life are needed for practical comparison.

  • Uniaxial tensile tests were performed on porcine skin to investigate the tensile stress-strain constitutive characteristic at quasistatic deformations using uniaxial tensile tests. Experimental results were then used to determine the parameters of the various constitutive model types for rubber, including the Mooney-Rivlin, Yeoh, Ogden, and others. The Prony series viscoelastic model was also calibrated based on the stress relaxation test. To investigate the calibrated constitutive equations (visco-hyperelastic), the falling impact test was conducted. From the viewpoint of the maximum impact load, the error was approximately 15.87%. Overall, the Ogden model predicted the experimental measurements most reasonably. The calibrated constitutive model is expected to be of practical use in describing the mechanical properties of porcine skin.

  • In order to investigate the fracture behaviors(penetration modes) and the resistance to penetration during ballistic impact of cold-rolled Al 5052 H34 alloy laminates, anodized Al 5052 H34 alloy laminates, and Al 5052 H34 alloy after cold-rolling, ballistic testing was conducted. In general, superior armor material is brittle materials which have a high hardness. Ballistic resistance of these materials was measured by protection ballistic limit(V50), a statical velocity with 50% probability for incomplete penetration. Fracture behaviors and ballistic tolerance, described by penetration modes, are observed respectfully, resulting from V50 test and Projectile Through Plate(PTP) test at velocities greater than V50. PTP tests were conducted with 0$^{\circ}$obliquity at room temperature using 5.56mm ball projectile. V50 tests with 0$^{\circ}$obliquity at room temperature were also conducted with projectiles that were able to achieve near or complete penetration during PTP tests. Surface Hardness, resistance to penetration, and penetration modes of Al 5052 H34 alloy laminates compared to those of cold-rolled Al 5052 H34 alloy laminates and anodized Al 5052 H34 alloy laminates anodized Al 5052 H34 alloy after cold-rolling.

  • This paper deals with the thermal and mechanical properties of ceramic coating material for bus bars. A ceramic coated samples were prepared for the mechanical properties test. There are two types of samples. One is a square shape and the other is a busbar shape. Each sample was deteriorated for 30 days to compare the thermal and mechanical properties with the non-degraded samples. Two thermal properties tests are TGA and flammability tests, and four mechanical properties tests are drop impact test, cross cut, tensile test, and bend test. The ceramic coating material was never damaged by impact and did not separate from aluminum in the cross cut test. In the tensile test, the breakage of the insulating material did not occur until aluminum fractured, and the breakage of the insulating material did not occur until the maximum load in the bending test. The decomposition temperature (melting point) of the ceramic coating material was higher than that of other epoxy insulators. This ceramic coating material is nonflammable and it has excellent fire stability.

  • Compacted soil are used in almost roadway construction with compaction of soil. The direct consequence of soil compaction is densification, which in turn results in higher strength, lower compressibility, and lower permeability. The standard and modified Proctor tests are the most common methods. Both of these tests utilize impact compaction, although impact compaction shows no resemblance to any type of field compaction and is ineffective for granular soils. It has been dramatic advances in field compaction equipment. Therefore, the Proctor tests no longer represent the maximum achievable field density. The main objectives of this research are a survey of current field compaction equipment, laboratory investigation of compaction characteristics, and field study of compaction characteristics. The findings from the laboratory and compaction program were used to establish preliminary guidelines for suitable laboratory compaction procedures.

  • This paper presents the effect of fusion procedure on the fusion performance of the thermal butt fusion in the safety class III buried HDPE piping per various tests performed, including high speed tensile impact, free bend, blunt notched tensile, notched creep, and PENT tests. The suitability of fusion joints and qualification procedures was evaluated by comparing test results from the base material and buttfusion joints. From the notched tensile test result, it was found that the fused joints have much lower toughness than the base material. It was also identified that the notched tensile test is more desirable than the high speed tensile impact and free bend tests presented in the ASME Code Case N-755-3 as a fusion qualification test method. In addition, with regard to the single low-pressure fusion joint performances, the procedure given by the ISO 21307 was determined to be better that the one specified in the Code Case N-755-3.

  • The use of fibers has been commonly considered in engineered cementitious composites, but their behavior with coarse aggregate in concrete has not been studied significantly, which is needed to meet structural performance objectives for design, such as ductility. This research analyzes the behavior of fiber-reinforced concrete with coarse aggregate with 0.62%, 1.23%, and 2% PVA (Polyvinyl-alcohol) content, varying the maximum aggregate size. Tensile (direct and indirect) and compressive concrete tests were performed. The PVA fiber addition in coarse aggregate concrete increased the ductility in compression, especially for the fiber with a larger aspect ratio, with a minor impact on strength. In addition, the tensile tests showed that the PVA fiber increased the tensile strength of concrete with coarse aggregate and, more significantly, improved the ductility. A selected mixture was used to build short and slender reinforced concrete beams to assess the behavior of structural members. PVA fiber addition in short beams changed the failure mode from shear to flexure, increasing the deflection capacity. On the other hand, the slender beam tests revealed negligible impact with the use of PVA.

  • Purpose: The renminbi (RMB) has appreciated alongside the elevation of China's economic status, leading to increased exchange rate volatility. Moreover, China's medical industry saw a surge in import and export trade volume, with trade related to epidemic prevention and control in the medical sector significantly increasing its share. The medical device trade, in particular, occupies a substantial portion of this trade. Research design, data and methodology: This paper focuses on the import and export value of medical devices in the medical industry as a case study to explore the impact of RMB exchange rate fluctuations on the import and export trade of the medical industry during the pandemic. Additionally, it investigates whether the import and export trade of the medical industry can be a contributing factor to the fluctuations in the RMB exchange rate. Results: Through an empirical study on the import and export values of medical devices in the medical industry over the past three years, as well as the RMB exchange rate, this paper establishes a VAR model and conducts a series of tests including stationarity tests and cointegration tests. Conclusions: The conclusion is that fluctuations in the RMB exchange rate have a long-term impact on China's medical industry's import and export trade.
