This paper discusses the design parameter sensitivity analysis and multi-objective function optimization for improving the impact performance of an auto-sensing breaker based on the analytical model of the same, which secured reliability in a previous research. The study aims to improve both impact power and stability by complementing the existing research that only improved the impact power. The study sequence is as follows: first, the analysis scenarios for the accurate sensitivity analysis and optimization are set up. Second, the sensitivity of the design parameter of the auto-sensing breaker is analyzed, and the variables with high sensitivity are extracted. Third, the extracted variables are used to optimize the multi-objective functions, and the optimized performance is compared with the initial performance to see how the impact performance on the existing auto-sensing breaker has improved. This study is based on domestic technology, and will allow the development of products with a better blowing performance than their existing overseas counterparts.

This paper studied on stability of the U-channel segmental concrete bridge under vehicle-impact loads. The U-channel bridge has advantages in that it reduces an additional dead load and the edge beams role as a barrier. But it has a dangerous factor which collapses the bridge structure when the edge beams are ruptured. Therefore, it is necessary to verify behaviors of the bridge system under vehicle-impact loads. Static and dynamic vehicle impact simulations were carried out on the basis of AASHTO LRFD design specifications. In case of the static analysis, equivalent static loads specified in the AASHTO codes are loaded on the edge beams and in case of the dynamic analysis, FEM vehicle models are modeled by applying the dynamic test specifications of AASHTO codes. As a result, it is shown that U-channel bridge system has sufficient safety against static and dynamic impact loads specified in the AASHTO LRFD design specifications.
In this study, the Z-shape fabric design is proposed as the way to enhance the ballistic performance of fabrics which are used as the intermediate layer of stuffed Whipple shield configurations. The Z-shape fabric employs a different boundary condition from those of conventional configurations of fabrics which include 4 edge fixed. Impact analysis on Z-shape aramid yarns and fabrics using LS-DYNA software was performed and the results were compared with 2 edge fixed and 4 edge fixed fabrics to identify the high velocity impact energy absorption characteristics of the Z-shape fabric. It was revealed that the Z-shape showed different impact behavior and higher energy absorption performance than 2 and 4 edge fixed fabrics.

This research concentrates on the potential explosion hazards that could arise from unforeseen accidents in the rapidly proliferating hydrogen refueling stations and Energy Storage System(ESS) facilities. It underscores the pivotal role of structural protection technology in alleviating such risks. The research contributes primary data for the formulation of structure protection design by assessing the impact resistance across various reinforcement techniques used in cement composites. The experimental results elucidate that reinforced concrete, serving as the quintessential structural material, exhibits a 20% advancement in impact resistance in comparison to its non-reinforced counterpart. In situations typified by rapid loads, such as those seen with high-velocity impacts, the reinforcement of the matrix with fibers is demonstrably more beneficial than local reinforcement. These insights accentuate the importance of judiciously choosing the reinforcement method to augment impact resistance in structural design.

The ship collision analysis of steel pile group as protection system of bridge in navigable waterways was performed to analyze the structural characteristics of protective structure during ship collision. The analysis encompassed finite element modeling of ship and pile, modeling of material non-linearity, hard impact analysis, displacement-based analysis and soft impact analysis for collision scenarios. Through the analysis of hard impact with a rigid wall, impact load for each collision type of ship bow was estimated. In the displacement-based analysis the estimate of energy which protection system can absorb within its maximum horizontal clearance so as to secure bridge pier from vessel contact during collision was performed. Soft impact analysis for various collision scenarios was conducted and the collision behaviors of vessel and pile-supported protection system were reviewed for the design of protection system. The understanding of the energy dissipation mechanism of pile supported structure and colliding vessel would give us the optimized design of protective structure.

This study suggested that protective panels should be installed as sacrificial members as a safety design method for structures with potential explosions such as hydrogen charging stations to minimize direct damage to the structure and have resilience. To this end, the focus of the experiment is on quantitatively evaluating the impact of the structure when the protection panel is installed closely or spaced apart from the structure in a high-speed collision situation of the projectile. The experimental design used steel plates instead of concrete structural members mainly used in the past for excellent reproducibility, and the impact of structural members was compared and analyzed through deformation differences on the back of the steel plate. In addition, the impact of changes in the physical properties of the elastic body used as a separation material for the protective member and the difference in shock wave transmission time according to the protective member and the elastic body on the structural member was investigated.

An eco-CMF design process is vital to the sustainable development of fashion products concerning both emotional and physical quality factors, thus extending the use phase of the product life cycle. Life cycle assessment (LCA) is widely used in other fields to evaluate environmental impact; However, the method is rarely adopted in fashion. While cooperating with design, technology, and the users, reflecting the CMF design process is an excellent approach to the sustainable development of fashion products. Moreover, it is likely to evoke favorable reactions in users toward products. Therefore, this study aimed to review the sustainable design strategies associated with CMF in the fashion industry. Using a systematic review, 135 papers that met the inclusion criteria were examined from peer-reviewed journal articles published between 1990 and 2022. They contained specific design processes or tools relevant to eco-CMF design. The search used the Web of Science database. After a rigorous search, the final six peer-reviewed journal articles were selected and underwent thorough content reviews. Then, the CMF design tools and frameworks for eco-design featured in the articles were carefully reviewed and analyzed. Finally, we proposed practical guidelines for the sustainable development of eco-CMF design in the fashion industry. The study outcomes revealed the need for concrete eco-CMF design processes, particularly for fashion products. Furthermore, more active research involving eco-CMF design processes for the sustainable environmental impact of fashion products is required.

The midsole hardness of athletic footwear affects capability of absorbing impact shock and controls rearfoot movement during running and walking. The prior studies were focused on examining the proper hardness of footwear for rearfoot movement or to finding effective hardness for absorbing impact shock. The displacements of maximal Achilles tendon angle described a amount of pronation motion is decreased when medial hardness of midsole is large more than lateral. Increasing hardness of footwear midsole are effected to reduce maximum and intial pronation angle, but declined the ability of impact shock during heelstrike. For determination of effectiveness hardness of midsole, therefore, the study that makes a compromise between rearfoot movement and absorbing impact during footstrike must be performed. The purpose of this study is to examine quantitative values of rearfoot control and absorbing impact shock with different hardness of medial and lateral midsole on heel portion. The results are useful to define biomechanical hardness of midsole for developing running shoes. As variable for impact shock, accelerations onto shank and knee are measured during 4 running speeds (5, 7, 9, 11km/h). Also, maximum and $10\%$ pronation angle (Achilles tendon angle) were measured using high-speed camera.

In this paper, static and fatigue bending strengths of CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced plastic laminates having impact damage(FOD) are evaluated. Composite laminates used for this experiment are CF/EPOXY and CF/PEEK orthotropy laminated plates, which have two-interfaces[${0^0}_4{90^0}_4}$]$_sym$. A steel ball launched by the air gun colides against CFRP laminates to generate impact damages. The damage growth during bending fatigue test is observed by the scanning acoustic microscope(SAM). When the impacted side is compressed, the residual fatigue bending strength of CF/PEEK specimen P is greater that that of CF/EPOXY SPECIMEN B. On the other hand, when the impacted side is in tension, the residual fatigue bending strength of CF/PEEK speicemen P is smaller than that of CF/EPOXY specimen B. In the case of impacted-side compression, fracture is proposed from the transverse crack generated near impact point. On the other hand, fracture is developed toward the impact point from the edge of interface-b delamination in the case of impacted-side tension.
