To study the influence of different reduced beam section (RBS) on the mechanical performance of modular boltedwelded hybrid connection joints (MHCJs), this article uses ABAQUS to establish and verify the finite element model (FEM) of the test specimens on the basis of quasi-static test research. Based on, 14 joint models featuring different RBS are devised to evaluate their influence on seismic behavior, such as joint failure mode, bending moment (M)-rotation angle (θ) curve, ductility, and energy consumption. The results indicate that when the flange and web are individually weakened, they alleviate to some extent the concentrated stress of the core module (CM) and column end steel skeleton in the joint core area, but both increase the stress on the flange connecting plate (FCP). At the same time, the impact of both on seismic performance such as bearing capacity, stiffness, and energy consumption is relatively small. When simultaneously weakening the flange and web of the steel beam, forming plastic hinges at the weakened position of the beam end, significantly alleviated the stress concentration of the CM and the damage at the FCP, improving the overall deformation and energy consumption capacity of joints. But as the weakening size of the web increases, the overall bearing capacity of the joint shows a decreasing trend.
The effect of pipe breaks in the secondary side is investigated as a part of the fuel assembly qualification program. Using the detailed dynamic analysis of a reactor core, peak responses for the motions induced from pipe breaks are obtained for a detailed core model. The secondary side pipe breaks such as main steam line and economizer feedwater line braksare considered because leak-before-break methodology has provided a technical basis for the elimination of double ended guillotine breaks of all high energy piping systems with a diameter of 10 inches or over in the primary side from the design basis. The dynamic responses such as fuel assembly shear force, bending moment, axial force and displacement, and spacer grid impact loads are carefully investigated. Also, the stress analysis is performed and the effect of the secondary side pipe breaks on the fuel assembly structural integrity under the faulted condition is addressed.
Green hydrogen presents a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution for clean energy production and transportation. This study aims to identify the optimal profile of green hydrogen transportation risers originating from a floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) integrated with a hydrogen production facility. Employing the Cummins equation, a fully coupled dynamic analysis for FOWT with a flexible riser was conducted, with the tower, mooring lines, and risers described using a lumped mass line model. Initially, motion response amplitude operators (RAOs) were compared with openly published results to validate the numerical model for the FOWT. Subsequently, a parametric study was conducted on the length of the buoyancy module section and the upper bare section of the riser by comparing the riser's tension and bending moment. The results indicated that as the length of the buoyancy module increases, the maximum tension of the riser decreases, while it increases with the lengthening of the bare section. Furthermore, shorter buoyancy modules are expected to experience less fatigue damage, with the length of the bare section having a relatively minor impact on this phenomenon. Consequently, to ensure safety under extreme environmental conditions, both the upper bare section and the buoyancy module section should be relatively short.
The aim of this study was to develop the noise and vibration damping wood-based composites by using viscoelastic polymer materials. Polyvinylchloride(PVC) was plasticized with 20-140 phr bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate(DOP) and the dynamic tensile mechanical properties were measured at 110Hz and approximate temperature range -100 to 150$^{\circ}$ using a Rheovibron Instrument. The PVC/DOP blends were shown to be compatible in all proportions, and both T(E”$_{max}$) and T(tan${\delta}_{max}$) shifted to the lower temperature side as the DOP content increased. The vibration damping properties of wood/polymer composites were measured using the Rheovibron instrument in a bending mode. The composite damping factor(tan ${\delta}_{c}$) of wood /PVC-DOP/wood sandwich structure correlated with the loss factor and that of the coated structure correlated with the loss modulus(E”) of the polymer layer. In addition, the sandwich structure was found to be more effective in damping than the coated structure. The logarithmic decrement (${\Delta}$c) curve of a sandwich structure, which was determined by the free-free flexural vibration method was similar in shape to the tan ${\delta}_{c}$ curve.

The present study attempts to develop the theoretical model for the damage estimation of offshore tubular members which are subjected to the accidental impact loads due to collision, falling objects and so on. For the reasons of the simplicity of the problem being considered, however, this paper postulates that the accidental load can be approximated to be the quasi-static one, in which dynamic effects are negelcted. Based upon the theoretical and experimental results which are obtained from the present study as well as the existing literature, the load-displacement relations taking the interaction effect between the local denting and the global bending deformation into account are presented in the explicit form when the concentrated lateral load acts on the tubular member whose end condition is supposed to be rotation ally free and axially restrained, in which membrane forces develop. Thus, the practical estimation of damage deformation for the local denting and the global bending damage of tubular members against the accidental loads is possible and also the collision absorption capability of the member can be calculated by performing the integration of the area below the given load-displacement curves, provided that all the energy is dissipated to the deforming the member itself.

Laser beam welding process is a relatively new process in comparison with arc welding process, but it is expected to apply widely because of the many advantages, and research and development of that process is being progressed actively for the practical use. the application of this welding process has been restricted due to the high initial investment and the need of precise processing against the material, but cost reduction and thick plate welding in high speed have become practial by recent technological development, and this welding process to not only small parts in automobile, machinery and physicochemical field, but also a large structure and pipe line are being applied. In order to utilize this welding process appropriately to a steel structure, the properties of welding residual stresses and fracture toughness in welded joints are to be investigated for relibilty. On this study, after performing the finite element analysis, thermal and residual stress properties have been examined to the general structural steel (HT50) by laser beam welding. Besides, the property of fracture toughness has been investigated by the Charpy impact test and 3-points bending CTOD test carried out in the range of temperature between $-60^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$. From the research results it is revealed that the maximum residual stress appears in the center of plate thickness and the fracture toughness is influenced by strength mis-match.
Recently, many industries have been employing the application of laser beam welding, due to the resulting high welding quality, such as smaller width of melting and heat affective zone, smaller welding deformation, and fine grains of weldment, compared to arc welding. However, in order to appropriately utilize this welding process with steel structure, the characteristics of welding residual stresses and fracture toughness in welded joints are to be investigated for reliability. Therefore, in this study, the mechanical properties of weldments by arc and laser welding are investigated using FEM to confirm the weldability of laser welding to the general structural steel (HT50). The Charpy impact test and 3-points bending CTOD test are carried out in the range of temperatures between $-60^{\circ}C\;and\;20^{\circ}C$, in order to understand the effect on the fracture toughness of weldments. From the research results, it has been found that the maximum residual stress appears at the center of plate thickness, and that the fracture toughness is influenced by strength mis-match.
The analysis of nonlinear vibrations, buckling, post-buckling, flutter boundary determination and post-flutter behavior of a homogeneous curved plate assuming cylindrical bending is conducted in this article. Other assumptions include simply-supported boundary conditions, supersonic aerodynamic flow at the top of the plate, constant pressure conditions below the plate, non-viscous flow model (using first- and third-order piston theory), nonlinear structural model with large deformations, and application of mechanical and thermal loads on the curved plate. The analysis is performed with constant environmental indicators (flow density, heat, Reynolds number and Mach number). The material properties (i.e., coefficient of thermal expansion and modulus of elasticity) are temperature-dependent. The equations are derived using the principle of virtual displacement. Furthermore, based on the definitions of virtual work, the potential and kinetic energy of the final relations in the integral form, and the governing nonlinear differential equations are obtained after fractional integration. This problem is solved using two approaches. The frequency analysis and flutter are studied in the first approach by transferring the handle of ordinary differential equations to the state space, calculating the system Jacobin matrix and analyzing the eigenvalue to determine the instability conditions. The second approach discusses the nonlinear frequency analysis and nonlinear flutter using the semi-analytical solution of governing differential equations based on the weighted residual method. The partial differential equations are converted to ordinary differential equations, after which they are solved based on the Runge-Kutta fourth- and fifth-order methods. The comparison between the results of frequency and flutter analysis of curved plate is linearly and nonlinearly performed for the first time. The results show that the plate curvature has a profound impact on the instability boundary of the plate under supersonic aerodynamic loading. The flutter boundary decreases with growing thermal load and increases with growing curvature.

In order to explore the influence of tooth root cracks on the dynamic characteristics of multi-stage planetary gear transmission systems, a concentrated parameter method was used to construct a nonlinear dynamic model of the system with 30-DOF in bending and torsion, taking into account factors such as crack depth, length, angle, error, time-varying meshing stiffness (TVMS), and damping. In the model, the energy method was used to establish a TVMS model with cracks, and the influence of cracks on the TVMS of the system was studied. By using the Runge- Kutta method to calculate the differential equations of system dynamics, a series of system vibration diagrams containing cracks were obtained, and the influence of different crack parameters on the vibration of the system was analyzed. And vibration testing experiments were conducted on the system with planetary gear cracks. The results show that when the gear contains cracks, the TVMS of the system will decrease, and as the cracks intensify, the TVMS will decrease. When cracks appear on the II-stage planetary gear, the system will experience impact effects with intervals of rotation cycles of the II-stage planetary gear. There will be obvious sidebands near the meshing frequency doubling, and the vibration trajectory of the gear will also become disordered. These situations will become more and more obvious as the degree of cracks intensifies. Through experiments, the theoretical results are in good agreement with experimental results, verifying the correctness of the theoretical model. This provides a theoretical basis for fault diagnosis and reliability research of the system.
This study was carried out to investigate the physical and mechanical properties. durability of adhesive bond and paint film for the basic data which were required to determine the suitability as a raw material for furniture the laminated veneer lumber (LVL) with pitch pine (Pinus rigida Mill). The results obtained were as follows; 1) The proper pressing time for making the LVL was over 45 second per milimeter of LVL thickness. 2) The bending strength of the LVL was lower than that of the solid wood but the compressive strength of the LVL was similar to that of the solid wood. The strength increased with the decrease of veneer thickness. 3) The impact bending absorbed energy of the LVL was 0 to 0.3 kg.m/$cm^2$ in the direction of parallel to the grain. The energy of the LVL was lower than that of the solid wood (0.68 kg.m/$cm^2$). 4) In warm water soaking and cold-dry tests, delamination of adhered layers surface crack, swelling, and color change were not found when the hot pressing time was over 45 second per milimeter of LVL thickness. As a result of soak under vacuum test shrinkage in the direction of parallel to the grain was about -1.0 percent and. was about 3.0 percent in the direction of the perpendicular to the grain. 6) The film cacks on the LVL's surface after the wet and cold-dry test were not found at all. 7) In the use of the LVL for interior decoration it was considered that the surface of the LVL be overlaid crossly with fancy veneers of birch and paulownia, etc. This cross overlayirg methods have resulted in few cracks on the fancy veneer.
