  • Purpose: This study developed and tested a hypothetical model of health promotion behavior on migrant workers based on the Health Promotion Model and the Health Literacy Skills Framework. Methods: Data were collected from 298 migrant workers in 9 regions across the country from December 2020 to March 2021. The exogenous variables were e-health literacy, occupational stress, acculturation, and social support. The endogenous variables were perceived benefits of action, self-efficacy, and health promotion behavior. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 25.0, AMOS 20.0, and R-4.0.3 program. Results: The model fit was appropriate. Social support had the most significant direct impact on the health promotion behavior of migrant workers. Perceived benefits of action and self-efficacy played a mediating role in the relationship among e-health literacy, social support, and health promotion behavior. Based on multi-group analysis, the migrant worker group with less than 5 years of residency had a more statistically significant effect on the relationship between perceived benefits of action and health promotion behavior than those with over 5 years. Conclusion: Providing social support as a critical administrative strategy to enhance the health promotion behavior of migrant workers is necessary. Furthermore, when developing an intervention program utilizing the internal mechanism between social support and health promotion behavior, a self-efficacy-enhancing strategy is considered to be more effective. Additionally, educating migrant workers with short-term residence of less than 5 years about the benefits of health behaviors is essential.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of action observation training (AOT) on the balance and cognition of the elderly with dementia. Methods: Twenty-four participants were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (12 participants each). The 5-week intervention involved 45 minutes sessions, three times a week. Both groups did 30 minutes of general physical exercises, followed by the experimental group watching a 5 minutes video featuring functional movements and imitating them for 10 minutes. The control group watched a scenic video and did functional training for 10 minutes, mimicking the experimental group. All participants were evaluated using the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test, Functional Reaching Test (FRT), Berg's Balance Scale (BBS), and Korean version of Mini-Mental State Examination (K-MMSE) before and after the intervention. A paired t-test was conducted to compare the within-group change before and after the intervention. Two-way repeated measures ANOVA was performed to compare the between-group difference. The statistical significance level was set to p=0.05 for all variables. Results: The experimental group showed significant within-group changes in the TUG test, FRT, BBS, and K-MMSE (p<0.05). The control group showed a significant change in FRT and K-MMSE (p<0.05). A significant difference was observed between the experimental group and the control group regarding the change in the TUG test, BBS, and K-MMSE after the interventions (p<0.05). Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that the AOT and repetition of actual movements, led to more significant improvements in balance and cognitive abilities compared to the control group that observed scenic landscapes.

  • This study aims to examine whether Marine sand mining business is Maritime Traffic Safety Audit and priority between Maritime Traffic Safety Audit and Sea Area Utilization Impact Assessment because development and action to use in the ocean is ambiguous, it is overlapped with system of environmental aspect, and priority is not designated. Therefore, the way to improve to settle the overlapping problem etc. between Maritime traffic Safety Audit and Sea Area Utilization Impact Assessment was suggested and legal ground for sand mining is suggested. Because management department for Maritime Safety Act and Marine Environment Management Act is Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the solution for this is both embodying co-experts on each committee for determinant of system with maintaining contact and radical revise of law. If revised, the possibility of accident in ocean is decreased, and it can be a way to protect marine environment.

  • In a PWR rod cluster control assembly(RCCA) for shutdown is released upon action of control rod drive mechanism and falls down through the guide thimble by its weight. Drop time and impact velocity of the RCCA are two key parameters with respect to reactivity insertion time and the mechanical integrity of fuel assembly. Therefore, the precise control of drop time and impact velocity is prerequisite to modifying the existing design features of the RCCA and guide thimble or newly designing them. During its falling down into the core, the RCCA is retarded by various forces acting on it such as fluid resistance caused by the RCCA movement, buoyance and mechanical friction caused by contacting inner surface of the guide thimble, etc. However, complicated coupling of the various forces makes it difficult to derive an analytical dynamic equation for the drop time and impact velocity. This paper deals with the development of a computer program containing an analytical dynamic equation applicable to the Korean Fuel Assembly(KOFA). The computer program is benchmarked with an available single control rod drop tests. Since the predicted values are in good agreement with the test results, the computer program developed in this paper can be employed to modify the exiting design features of the RCCA and guide thimble and to develope their new design features for advanced nuclear reactors.

  • This study aims to estimate potential climate change damage in Korea using the PAGE model. This study reviewed previous a reasearch to compare relative sensitivity to climate change in Korea and other regions to generate climate change damage function. It was found that sensitivity to climate change in Korea is similar to other Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries. This study estimated climate change impact for three scenarios. If no action is taken, climate change damage cost in Korea could reach US$ 12,928 ~ 57,900 M. Cumulative Net Present Value (NPV)of climate change impact from 1990 to 2100 would be between US$ 143,226 ~ 921,701 Mdepending on emission scenarios. However, this result should be interpreted with caution as it draws its damage function based on only a few available references. Results also showed that an adaptation policy could decrease the degree of climate change impact significantly. If an adaptation policy is implemented, climate change impact will be decreased by US$ 11,355 million dollars in Korea in 2100.

  • Courier services users' experience of violating privacy affects psychology and behavior of protecting personal privacy. Depending on what privacy infringement experience (PIE) of courier services users, learning about perceived privacy infringement incidents is made, recognition is formed, affection is formed, and behavior is appeared. This paradigm of changing in privacy psychologies of courier services users has an important impact on predicting responses of privacy protective action (PPA). In this study, a theoretical research framework are developed to explain the privacy protective action (PPA) of courier services users by applying attitude theory. Based on this framework, the relationships among past privacy infringement experience (PIE), perceived privacy risk (PPR), privacy concerns (i.e., concerns in unlicensed secondary use (CIUSU), concerns in information error (CIE), concerns in improper access (CIA), and concern in information collection (CIC), and privacy protective action (PPA) are analyzed. In this study, the proposed research model was surveyed by people with experience in using courier services and was analyzed for finding relationships among research variables using structured an equation modeling software, SMART-PLS. The empirical results show the causal relationships among PIE, PPR, privacy concerns (CIUSU, CIE, CIA, and CIC), and PPA. The results of this study provide useful theoretical implications for privacy management research in courier services, and practical implications for the development of courier services business model.

  • This paper is to grasp the applicability of a cumulative rebound angle measured from the rebound action generated after impacting an object for the assessment of compressive strength of construction materials nondestructively and to propose the test results. For this study, an impact device was devised and used for impacting an object by an initial rotating free falling impact and following repetitive impacts from the rebound action which eventually disappears. Five types of construction materials, which are soil cement, cement paste, wood (pine tree), and two types of rock (shale and granite), were tested and both peak rebound angle and cumulative rebound angle were measured for each material by using a high-speed camera. The measured angles were compared with the directly measured compressive strength for each material. The comparison showed that for materials such as cement and rock the cumulative rebound angle, which reflects energy dissipation, rather than the peak rebound angle is more appropriate indicator for assessing the compressive strength of a material, but for a construction material such as wood which has a high toughness the magnitude of rebound is not an indicator to assess the compressive strength of a material.

  • This study spatially assesses the impact of trees on residential rooftop solar energy potential using urban three-dimensional models derived from Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR) data in San Francisco, California. In recent years on-site solar energy generation in cities has become an essential agenda in municipal climate action plans. However, it can be limited by neighboring environments such as shade from topography, buildings and trees. Of all these effects, the impact of trees on rooftop photovoltaics(PVs) requires careful attention because improper situation of solar panels without considering trees can result in inefficient solar energy generation, tree removal, and/or increasing building energy demand and urban heat island effect. Using ArcMap 9.3.1, we calculated the incoming annual solar radiation on individual rooftops in San Francisco and the reduced insolation affected by trees. Furthermore, we performed a multiple regression analysis to see what attributes of trees in a neighborhood(tree density, tree heights, and the variance of tree heights) affect rooftop insolation. The result shows that annual total residential rooftops insolation in San Francisco is 18,326,671 MWh and annual total light-loss reduction caused by trees is 326,406 MWh, which is about 1.78%. The annual insolation shows a wide range of values from $34.4kWh/m^2/year$ to $1,348.4kWh/m^2/year$. The result spatially maps the locations that show the various levels of impact from trees. The result from multiple regression shows that tree density, average tree heights and the variation of tree heights in a neighborhood have statistically significant effects on the rooftop solar potential. The results can be linked to municipal energy planning in order to manage potential conflicts as cities with low to medium population density begin implementing on-site solar energy generation. Rooftop solar energy generation makes the best contribution towards achieving sustainability when PVs are optimally located while pursuing the preservation of urban trees.

  • The purpose of this study is to consider for the introduction of the school eco-audit system as an educational method for sustainable development. First of all, the concept and objective of the education for sustainable development(ESD) are reviewed in order to advance a theory on school eco-audit system. ESD which under the premise of global inter and intra generation justice, resolves to address a mixture of ecological, economical and social aspects, as well as safeguarding limited resources and protecting the environment from pollution and energy. In order to effectively structure uncoordinated environmental activities carried out by schools, the introduction of school eco-audit system in Korea is suggested, which as the model for long-term development, has since been integrated into the school's programme. Activities related to waste, heating, electricity and water are run by a 'Management Team'. By combining all 3 fields of action - i.e. establishing basic organizational conditions, education, and individual ecological measures - the eco-audit proves to be the key to success. In particular, administration agency and method, institutional improvement are presented.
