Analysis of Image Quality Based on Perceptual Vision

  • This paper deals with image quality analysis considering the impact of psychological factors involved in assessment. The attributes of image quality requirement were partitioned according to the visual perception characteristics and the preference of image quality were obtained by the factor analysis method. The features of image quality which support the subjective preference were identified, The adequacy of image is evidenced to be the top requirement issues to the display image quality improvement.

  • The fingerprint image quality relies on the clearness of separated ridges by valleys and the uniformity of the separation. The condition of skin still dominate the overall quality of the fingerprint. However, the identification performance of such system is very sensitive to the quality of the captured fingerprint image. Fingerprint image quality analysis and enhancement are useful in improving the performance of fingerprint identification systems. A fuzzy technique is introduced in this paper for both fingerprint image quality analysis and enhancement. First, the quality analysis is performed by extracting four features from a fingerprint image which are the local clarity score (LCS), global clarity score (GCS), ridge_valley thickness ratio (RVTR), and the Global Contrast Factor (GCF). A fuzzy logic technique that uses Mamdani fuzzy rule model is designed. The fuzzy inference system is able to analyse and determinate the fingerprint image type (oily, dry or neutral) based on the extracted feature values and the fuzzy inference rules. The percentages of the test fuzzy inference system for each type is as follow: For dry fingerprint the percentage is 81.33, for oily the percentage is 54.75, and for neutral the percentage is 68.48. Secondly, a fuzzy morphology is applied to enhance the dry and oily fingerprint images. The fuzzy morphology method improves the quality of a fingerprint image, thus improving the performance of the fingerprint identification system significantly. All experimental work which was done for both quality analysis and image enhancement was done using the DB_ITS_2009 database which is a private database collected by the department of electrical engineering, institute of technology Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya, Indonesia. The performance evaluation was done using the Feature Similarity index (FSIM). Where the FSIM is an image quality assessment (IQA) metric, which uses computational models to measure the image quality consistently with subjective evaluations. The new proposed system outperformed the classical system by 900% for the dry fingerprint images and 14% for the oily fingerprint images.

  • A novel quantified method based on requirement analysis of image quality to improve display image quality was proposed. Nowadays, the image quality was limited by the poor understanding of the image quality requirement, which led to the critical factors of image quality could not be controlled during display development. Our method was set up to resolve this problem by clarifying the relationship between the image quality level and the effect factors in image processing. Moreover, the subjective factors were eliminated extremely by the image quality quantification. The method was applied in the RPTV development life cycle and its efficiency was demonstrated.

  • In this paper, the typical Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image quality parameters and analysis method are defined, and the SAR image analysis tool is presented for SAR image evaluation. The structure of the developed SAR image analysis tool consists of four key modules; point target analysis (PTA) module, distributed target analysis (DTA) module, ambiguity analysis (AMA) module, and NESZ analysis (NESZA) module. The developed tool is able to extract the various SAR system parameters from standard SAR product format files. Based on these extracted system parameters, typical SAR image quality parameters are derived from SAR image data.

  • The purpose of this study is to find specific service quality factors of enterprises that can maximize the perception of banks' services to users of commercial banks in China, and to establish empirically how these quality factors affect the bank's image. They also want to verify the impact of the positive image of the bank on the user's satisfaction and the willingness to use the bank's services. For empirical verification of this study, questionnaires will be used to customers who have used the services of each of the four commercial banks in China, and the survey was conducted. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS using statistical techniques such as Cronbach' ${\alpha}$, Investigative Factor Analysis, Reliability Analysis, Correlation Analysis, Regression and Difference Verification. The results of the verification were summarized below. First, the quality of service of commercial banks has a partial positive effect on the bank's image. Second, the image of a commercial bank has a positive effect on customer satisfaction. Third, the image of a commercial bank has a positive effect on the purpose of use. Fourth, the image of commercial banks has a partial mediated effect between service quality and customer satisfaction. Fifth, the image of a commercial bank has a partial mediated effect between the quality of service and its intended use.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine a path analysis of perceived service quality, store image, alternative store attraction, consumer satisfaction and switching barrier perception on store loyalty in apparel product purchasing. The questionnaire was administered to 450 women shopped in a department store in Gwang-ju during September, 12-26, 2002. Data collected from 384 women were analyzed by using frequency, multiple regression analysis, path analysis by SPSS for WIN program. The results were as follows ; First, the switching barrier perception, consumer satisfaction, perceived service quality, store image significantly influenced store loyalty. Second, the consumer satisfaction, perceived service quality, store image, alternative store's attraction significantly influenced switching barrier perception. Third, the perceived service quality, store image, alternative store's attraction significantly influenced consumer satisfaction. Fourth, the perceived service quality, store image, alternative store's attraction had indirect effects on store loyalty mediated by consumer satisfaction and switching barrier perception. The consumer satisfaction had indirect effects on store loyalty mediated by switching barrier perception. In short, perceived service quality, store image, alternative store's attraction influenced on store loyalty mediated by consumer satisfaction and switching perception.

Antecedents of Student Loyalty Within Universities in North Sumatra Province, Indonesia

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the antecedents of student loyalty which included Servicescape University, relationship quality, university image, and student satisfaction. The research was conducted in three universities with Islamic atmosphere under Al Washliyah Foundation in Medan, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia. Data analysis in this study includes descriptive analysis and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results showed that: (1) Servicescape university influences university image, student satisfaction, but does not influence student loyalty; (2) Servicescape university through university image influences student loyalty, (3) Servicescape university through student satisfaction influences student loyalty, (4) Relationship quality influences university image, satisfaction Students, but does not influence student loyalty, (5) Relationship quality through university image influences student loyalty, (6) Relationship quality through student satisfaction influences student loyalty, (7) University image influences student loyalty, and (8). Student satisfaction influences student royalty. The findings of this study suggest that the antecedent of student loyalty in universities with Islamic atmosphere which was examined in this research includes four factors: Servicescape university, quality relationship, university image, and students' satisfaction.

  • Recently, there are a lot of studies to use a satellite image data in order to investigate a simultaneous change of a wide range area as a lake. However, many cases of a water quality research occur as problem when we try to extract the water quality factors from the satellite image data, because of the atmosphere scattering exert as bad influence on a result of analysis. In this study, and attempt was made to select the relative atmospheric correction method for the water quality factors extraction from the satellite image data. And also, the time-series analysis of the water quality factors extraction from the satellite image data. And also, the time-series analysis of the water quality factors was performed by using the multi-temporal image data.

  • This paper analyzed the characteristics of the Lossy JPEG of the meteorological satellite image, and analyzed the quality of the Lossy JPEG compression, which is proper for the LRIT(Low Rate Information Transmission) to be serviced to the SDUS(Small-scale Data Utilization Station) system of the COMS(Communication, Oceans, Meteorological Satellite). Since COMS is to start running after 2008, we collected the data of the MTSAT-1R(Multi-functional Transport Satellite -1R) for analysis, and after forming the original image to be used to LRIT by each channel and time zone of the satellite image data, we set the different quality with the Lossy JPEG compression, and compressed the original data. For the characteristic analysis of the Lossy JPEG, we measured PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Rate), compression rate and the time spent in compression following each quality of Lossy JPEG compression. As a result of the analysis of the satellite image data of the MTSAT-1R, the ideal quality of the Lossy JPEG compression was found to be 90% in the VIS Channel, 85% in the IR1 Channel, 80% in the IR2 Channel, 90% in the IR3 Channel and 90% in the IR4 Channel.

  • Research should be actively conducted for the ability of X-ray equipment and Retrospective image analysis of X-ray equipment used in hospitals. Retrospective image analysis of X-ray machines, CT and MRI of radiology and medical equipment has been actively conducted. However, image quality measurement using angiography equipment of angiography room is mostly measured with phantom, and image quality measurement on image after being taken by actual patient is insufficient and researches on accurate image quality measurement method are remarkable. It is in short supply. Therefore, through this study, the researcher devised a method to measure the image quality of the acquired image after coronary angiography, and to provide a high quality image to the operator. The equipment and programs used were angiographic examination equipment (Axiom Artis Zee Ceiling) and Image J program. Subjects were images automatically saved in PACS program after coronary angiography.For image quality measurement, selected the AP Caudal 30° image that show the LCA vessel well and the LAO 30° image that show the RCA vessel well during the coronary angiography. In order to measure the background and ROI of the selected image by selecting an image, a criterion on how to find and measure a section where the overlap of the shadow, such as blood vessel, liver and lung is minimized, is presented. In conclusion, there is no exact standard for analyzing an image quality measurement method of angiography image. Therefore, in order to provide quality images to the practistioners, not only the technicians of the equipment but also the users who actually use them should become researchers and conduct research on image quality measurement in various ways. Thus, it is expected to provide excellent images to patients.
