  • This study analyzed the difference between 2D image and 3D virtual clothing images based on stripe arrangement to obtain fundamental data for slim appearance. First, the slimming effect according to the three types of stripe ratio was examined. Subsequently, the slimming effects of seven types of one-piece dress designs according to the stripe location were analyzed. Subjective ranking was evaluated. The width items and radius of curvature were measured for the image's respective parts. Consequently, in 2D image and 3D virtual clothing images, the one with the narrowest stripe ratio was evaluated as the slimmest; however, the conditions for the slimming effect were different. In the seven one-piece dress designs, a difference was apparent in the ranking of the 2D image and 3D virtual clothing images. In the 3D virtual clothing image, arranging the stripes on the entire garment proved inefficient. The stripes were curved according to the curvature of the human body, creating an optical illusion that differed from that of the 2D image.

  • This study examined the linkage between positive cognitive bias and entrepreneurial intention. Self-enhancement, unrealistic optimism, and illusion of control have been collectively referred as positive cognitive bias. We examined the effects of positive cognitive bias on attitudes toward success and failure. And we also examined the effect of attitudes toward success and failure on entrepreneurial intension. This study investigated these relationships using 240 high school students. The result of analysis indicated that the self-enhancement bias and unrealistic optimism bias had positive effects on attitude toward failure, but it had not any effect on attitude toward success. The illusion of control bias has positive effects on attitude toward success, but it had not any effect on attitude toward failure. The attitudes toward success and failure had positive effect on entrepreneurial intension. Then results of this study suggests that the cognitive biases showed a role of antecedents of attitudes toward success and failure. Finally, this study concluded with a discussion of the implications of the research findings and directions for future research.

  • The Grid, a lattice structure adapted in paintings, is one of thesimplest plastic structures based on the intersection of horizontal and perpendicular lines. Though mankind has, from the pre-history to the present day, put it to good use in everyday life as a traditional practice or a magical, esoteric, religious emblem in the case of the teciform of primitve art, it was in the paintings of Piet Mondrian that the Grid showed its modern, artistic transformation. As we suggest in the title, before I state the Grid as a plastic construction of modern painting, this dissertation inquires the Grid structure that extends over paintings through the ages as a painterly conept, especially focused on their formation and deconstruction. To begin with, my dissertation investigates, as a historical background, a general idea of the geometrical structure and phases of its transition in art, prior to dealing with the Grids as plastic strures in modern painting. the core of my study on formal Grids is permeated through the third chapter. The first chapter concentrates on, firstly, difining the notion of the Grid and geometrical structure, secondly, searching for a historical backgrounb with whict the so- called modern Grid-paintings come in, inquiring into the formation of the illusion-Grid as aresult of discovering the linear perpective and the situation of the conflict and reconciliaton between reality and illusion. Based on these considerations, the second cecond chapter will examine the various sitations of formation and adaptation of the paintery Grids in the Literalism-Grid, as we have already seen in the chapter one. And the cardinal third chapter devotes itself to the process of the formation of the so-called Object-Grid and Literal-Grid in the Literalism or Minimalism as its logical extension of the Painterly Grid. With it we can get to an interpretation and understanding of the meaning and qualites of Grid dwelt in Modernism thst transformed the structure of Painterly Grid originally as a plane concept to the third dimentionl structure. And then, the fourth chapter, we try to draw a new meaning andre-interpretation of the Formal-Grid as a representatuinnal structure appeared in the post-modernist paintings, going with its deconstructional situation. Therefore, we can, in our study on Grids, see the various points of view in the interpretation of them as illusion-structure, as plane-structure, and as cubic-structure; its concept differs form times, oscillating between its formation and deconstruction. The Grid, as we have seen in my dissertation, contains various problems and significations in art that deserve to investigate throughly, including some important plastic problem such as space and plane, and, in the case of do-grid, time. We may expect new concepts of it that will have difference meanings. 1 hope my study makes some contributions to understanding the coordination of the abstruse modern and contemporary art.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore how overly positive self-estimations in peer relationships relate to subjective well-being and to the occurrence of interpersonal behaviors supporting basic psychological needs among elementary school students. This study tested the optimal margin hypothesis of positive illusion by examining the curvilinear relationship between these variables. The sample consisted of 346 fifth and sixth grade students. The self-criterion residual method was used to derive self-estimation bias scores by regressing the real peer relations index (i.e., In-degree) on their perceived peer relationship qualities. The results showed that girls more strongly overestimated the quality of their peer relationships than boys. Self-estimation biases had a positive curvilinear relationship with negative affects and a negative curvilinear relationship with relatedness needs supporting interpersonal behaviors. These results supported the existence of the optimal margin of positive illusion because overestimations of the quality of peer relationships were associated with lower levels of negative affects and relatedness needs-supporting interpersonal behaviors, though these benefits flattened out and no further benefit was observed after an optimal level of overestimation. However, self-estimation bias was linearly associated with positive affect, autonomy needs-supporting interpersonal behaviors, and competence needs-supporting interpersonal behaviors. These results indicated that optimal margin hypothesis was not supported for all outcome variables.

  • Depaysement, suggested by the well-known surrealist Rene Magritte, has been used for and applied to many media. Application of depaysement through various media such as TV, commercial, and advertisement, attempted to provide interest by deviation from fixed ideas and visual shock, placing common objects in new and strange environment. The study applied screen projection mapping using a transparent screen and objet for different purposes to projection mapping media, applying depaysement to the artwork 'Illusion' in order to suggest visual pleasure, possibility as a new media, and projection mapping using transparent screen and objet. The work cases were suggested by applying expressive methods and effects according to three classifications - modulation of space, combination of conflicting images, and transformation and change of objects - in depaysement, and analyzed by types based on classification of the layout, typography, image, color, and time. Through 'Illusion,' new objet and characteristics of the media are applied and expanded by using projection mapping and depaysement.

  • The present study purposed to compare formative expression between the fashion of the end of 19th century - early 20th century and that of the 21st century which were influenced by art nouveau and art deco. For this purpose, we analyzed contents in literature, Internet, etc.,. According to the results of this study, the formative expression of art nouveau were divided into continuous movement, optical illusion and decorative expression. Continuous movement was used to express fancy and soft images in the end of 19th century, and to express images giving the feeling of speed and tension in the 21st century. Optical illusion was expressed by the movement the thin and soft materials with the body movement and the movement of excessive frills adornment. And in movement produced using thin and soft materials and by the bias cutting method in the 21st century. Decorative expression was expressed as fantasy and decadent image in the end of 19th century and as mild passionate and modern image with color combination in the 21st century. The formative expression of art deco were divided into visual simplicity, contrastive loudness, and functional expression. Visual simplicity was expressed as a boyish image in the early of 20th century, but as a complex expression combining simplicity and femininity in the 21st century. Contrastive loudness was expressed by using colors both in the early of 20th century and 21st century. Functional expression was reinforced through the lightening of design and materials in the early of 20th century, but through using bias cutting high tech materials in the 21st century.

  • The purpose of the research was to examine the relative effect of binocular disparity and T-junction on the determination of object's belongingness in brightness perception when regular repeating structure was present in the stimuli. Using Howe's stimuli, the variation of White illusion stimuli, Experiment 1 found that object's belongingness was mainly determined by monocular information (T-junction as well as regular repeating structure) rather than by binocular disparity when both informations on belongingness were inconsistent. Experiment 2, using the stimuli employing only regular repeating structure and binocular disparity, found that object's belongingness was not determined by any single information. These results imply that when the regular repeating structure and binocular disparity are inconsistent on object's belongingness, T-junction plays an important role in the determination of the object's belongingness and that the brightness perception is affected by it.

  • [ $D{\'{e}}formation$ ]is one of the most important cultural factor which puts people at ease and gives a sense of security. This study, in the process, analyzes the works of Moschino. Moschino's designs are rated to have approached the sublime when it comes to transforming the psychological anxiety of everyday living into a laughter. After selecting one hundred-two of Moschino's designs from the Internet Web site(www.cft.or.kr, www.samsungdesign.net), this study examines and analyzes the characteristics and types of deformation found in them. The result as follows. The examination of deformation found in Moschino designs can be classified into a transformation, distortion, exaggeration, and illusion. Transformation, a conscious change of the existing form or function, was shown as the change of an existing position, form, function and designation of a new function. Distortion, an interpretation away from the reality or a "wrong interpretation," was shown by placing opposing factors in left-right position as an extreme asymmetry. Exaggeration, always beyond the realm of reality, was shown thorough an enlargement or a magnification of a specific part and a repetition of a detail factors. Illusion, through a distortion of reality results in something that looks new, was expressed through the effects of wearing a two-pieces, an expression of details, effects of wearing accessories, and an expression of a dynamism. Therefore, Moschino has reflected the desire of homo modern to transform the existing situation through many techniques of deformation.

  • The introduction of real numbers is one of the most difficult steps in the teaching of school mathematics since the mathematical justification of the extension from rational to real numbers requires the completeness property. The author elucidated what questions about real numbers can be unanswered as the "institutional didactic void" in school mathematics defining real numbers as the union of the rational and irrational numbers. The pre-service teachers' explanations on the extension from rational to real numbers and the raison d'$\hat{e}$tre of arbitrary non-recurring decimals showed the superficial and fragmentary understanding of real numbers. Connecting school mathematics to university mathematics via the didactic void, the author discussed how pre-service teachers could break the illusion of transparency about the real number.
