자연채광을 이용한 인공조명의 제어방법에 관한 실험적 연구 (A Experimental Study on Artificial Illumination Control System Illuminated by Daylighting)

  • 기존 상업용빌딩은 실내 시환경 개선의 필요성이 중시됨에 따라서 자연채광과 인공조명을 겸용하는 천장형태에 따른 조명제어 방법으로 전기에너지도 절약하면서 실내의 작업면 조도는 적정조도를 이루게 하는 방안을 찾고자 한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 창 유리의 종류와 실내의 마감색채, 천장타입에 따른 인공조명의 제어방법을 가지고 실험을 하였으며, 실험한 데이터는 실내의 조명설계시 참고할 수 있는 기초적 자료로 제시하고자 했다.

  • To find the best intagliated shape on edgelit signboard, it was prepared wilt variations of illumination by changing the depth and angle of an engraved letter, the thickness of acrylic panel and wavelength of light source in this paper. As the result of analyzing optical design program, shallower depth and larger than critical angle on a visible side of panel, a favorable illumination characteristics was found. Also considering those factors, it was able to select the model which showed effectively engraved letter.

  • Image processing has been utilized for assessment of infrastructure surface coating conditions for years. However, there is no robust method to overcome the non-uniform illumination problem to date. Therefore, this paper aims to deal with non-uniform illumination problems for bridge coating assessment and to achieve automated rust intensity recognition. This paper starts with selection of the best color configuration for non-uniformly illuminated rust image segmentation. The adaptive-network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is adopted as the framework to develop the new model, the box-and-ellipse-based neuro-fuzzy approach (BENFA). Finally, the performance of BENFA is compared to the Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) method, which is often used in image recognition, to show the advantage and robustness of BENFA.

CRT 모니터의 배경계조도가 영상의 시각인식에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Background Grey Levels on the Visual Perception of Displayed Image on CRT Monitor)

  • In this paper, the effect of background grey levels on the visual perception of target image displayed on CRT monitor has been investigated. The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy of CRT monitor as a display medium of image Information especially in medical imaging field. Tllree sets of experiments have been performed in this study : the first was to measure the luminance response of CRT monitor and to find the best fitting equation, and the second was the psychophysical experiment measuring the threshold grey level differences between the target image and the background required for visual discrimination (or various background grey levels, and the third was to develop a visual model that is predictable of the threshold grey level difference measured in the psychophysical experiment. The result of psycophysical experiment shows that the visual perception performance is significantly degraded in the range of grey levels lower than 50, which is turned out due to she low luminance change of CRT monitor in this range while human eye has been adapted lo relatively bright ambient illumination. And it Is also shown in the simulation study using the developed visual model that the dominant factor degrading the visual performance is the reflected light from the monitor surface by ambient light in general illumination condition.

  • Daylight is a critical factor in architecture, as it helps enhance the working efficiency and pleasantness of the people working inside, in addition to reduce the power consumption in heating and cooling and make the interior space brighter. There are many kinds of glazing and daylighting systems. At present, research and efforts for their development are carried out, alongside quantitative evaluation. This study aims to present basic materials to be used to design proper glazing and daylighting systems in architecture based on a quantitative evaluation by scale models of existing office buildings. The result of the study can be summarized as follows. 1)As a result of the experiment, it appeared that the ratio of the interior illumination (i.e. at the working table, ceiling and wall) against the outdoor illumination increases at a constant rate, as the transmittance of the glazing goes up. 2) It was found that the SIR(Sunlight Illuminance Ratio) of a separated window system goes up by 20-50% at the rear part than in the case of an ordinary window system.

스테인드글라스 렌더링을 위한 조명 모델 (An Illumination Model for Stained Glass Rendering)

  • 본 연구에서는 스테인드글라스 렌더링을 위한 조명 모델을 제안한다. 본 기법은 스테인드글라스에서 중요시되는 광학적 요소를 렌더링 알고리즘에 반영하여 보다 사실적인 스테인드글라스 결과 영상을 만들어낸다. 이를 위해 3단계의 작업을 수행하게 되는데 먼저 스테인드글라스의 표면과 빛의 방향에 의해서 영향을 받게 되는 확산광과 빛과 시선의 각도에 따라 달라지는 하이라이트를 계산한다. 그 다음으로 프레넬 항을 이용하여 스테인드글라스에 투과된 빛의 양을 계산한다. 그 후, 각 유리조각의 색상에 따른 빛의 흡수를 표현하여 사실적인 스테인드글라스 영상을 만든다.

  • 본 논문에서는 영상의 밝기 정보로부터 물체의 표면 형상을 재구성하는 새로운 접근 방법을 제시한다. 표면 재구성 문제를 최적화 문제로 정의하고 국지 해(local minima)에 빠지기 쉬운 기존의 경사법(gradient method) 대신 유전자 알고리즘(genetic algorithm)을 사용한다. 이를 위해 2차원 이미지에 적절한 유전자 표현 및 유전자 연산을 제시한다. 또한 입력 이미지를 단계별로 축소하고, 축소된 이미지에 유전자 알고리즘을 적용하여 큰 형상을 먼저 결정한 후 미세한 형상을 찾아내는 계층적 방법을 적용함으로써 유전자 알고리즘의 수렴 속도를 개선한다. 반사 모델로 기존의 람버션 반사 모델(Lambertian illumination model)에 거리 요소를 포함시켜 보다 현실과 비슷한 제약 조건을 주었으며 실험을 통해 제시된 방법의 타당성을 보인다.

  • This paper proposes an object segmentation method using centre of mass model and $CIELa^*b^*$ color feature. The proposed method detects moving objects using geometric and colorimetic information. The method is robust to illumination changes and it reduces noise by block-wise computation.

  • In this paper, we propose a human face detection algorithm using adaptive skin color model and neural networks. To attain robustness in the changes of illumination and variability of human skin color, we perform a color segmentation of input image by thresholding adaptively in modified hue-saturation color space (TSV). In order to distinguish faces from other segmented objects, we calculate invariant moments for each face candidate and use the multilayer perceptron neural network of backpropagation algorithm. The simulation results show superior performance for a variety of poses and relatively complex backgrounds, when compared to other existing algorithm.

Efficient 3D Model based Face Representation and Recognition Algorithmusing Pixel-to-Vertex Map (PVM)

  • A 3D model based approach for a face representation and recognition algorithm has been investigated as a robust solution for pose and illumination variation. Since a generative 3D face model consists of a large number of vertices, a 3D model based face recognition system is generally inefficient in computation time and complexity. In this paper, we propose a novel 3D face representation algorithm based on a pixel to vertex map (PVM) to optimize the number of vertices. We explore shape and texture coefficient vectors of the 3D model by fitting it to an input face using inverse compositional image alignment (ICIA) to evaluate face recognition performance. Experimental results show that the proposed face representation and recognition algorithm is efficient in computation time while maintaining reasonable accuracy.
