일본의 대표적인 첨단기술 기업인 후지쓰(Fujitsu Ltd.)사는 미국의 디지털 이큅먼트, 휴렛 패커드, 유니시스와 같은 컴퓨터업계의 거인들을 제치고 IBM에 이어 세계 제2의 컴퓨터 회사 자리로 올라섰다. 그 배경에는 현지기업을 대리인으로 내세우는 국제화전략이 주효한 것을 들 수 있다.

인터페이서(interfacer)라함은 성격이 다른 두가지 이상의 장치를 연결시켜 정보의 교환을 가능하 게 하는 공유영역을 의미한다. 본 글에서는 이해하기 쉬우며 응용 범위도 넓은 I/O포트 방식의 인터페이스를 중심으로 작동원리, 회로설계에, 제작 및 실험에 관하여 간략하게 살펴보기로 하 겠다. 본 글중 PC라함은 IBM PC/XT 및 호환 기종을 일컬으며, 여기에 언급되는 기술은 XT급뿐 아니라 AT급의 PC에도 무리없이 적용될 수 있다.

일반적으로 정보 저장장치라고 하면 컴퓨터의 하드디스크나 음악을 듣기 위해 이용되는 컴팩트디스크(compact disk- read only memory, CD-ROM)를 생각하게 된다. 1956년 미국 캘리포니아주의 산호세에 위치한 IBM의 한 연구소에서 자성체를 이용한 정보저장장치(hard disk, HD) RAMAC 이 처음 개발된 이래 지난 50년간 HD는 매년 60～100%의 저장용량의 능력을 증가시키며 컴퓨터 산업과 더불어 눈부시게 성장해 오고 있다. (중략)

Computing the interior spectrum of large sparse generalized eigenvalue problems $Ax\;=\;{\lambda}Bx$, where A and b are large sparse and SPD(Symmetric Positive Definite), is often required in areas such as structural mechanics and quantum chemistry, to name a few. Recently, CG-type methods have been found useful and hence, very amenable to parallel computation for very large problems. Also, as in the case of linear systems proper choice of preconditioning is known to accelerate the rate of convergence. After the smallest eigenpair is found we use the orthogonal deflation technique to find the next m-1 eigenvalues, which is also suitable for parallelization. This offers advantages over Jacobi-Davidson methods with partial shifts, which requires re-computation of preconditioner matrx with new shifts. We consider as preconditioners Incomplete LU(ILU)(0) in two variants, ever-relaxation(SOR), and Point-symmetric SOR(SSOR). We set m to be 5. We conducted our experiments on matrices from discretizations of partial differential equations by finite difference method. The generated matrices has dimensions up to 4 million and total number of processors are 32. MPI(Message Passing Interface) library was used for interprocessor communications. Our results show that in general the Multi-Color ILU(0) gives the best performance.

Numerical calculations are carried out for flow past a circular cylinder forced oscillating normal to the free-stream flow at a fixed Reynolds number equal to 185. The cylinder oscillation frequency ranged from 0.8 to 1.2 of the natural vortex-shedding frequency, and the oscillation amplitude extended up to 20% of the cylinder diameter. IBM (Immersed Boundary Method) with direct momentum forcing was adopted to handle both of a stationary and an oscillating cylinder Present results such as time histories of drag and lift coefficients for both stationary and oscillating cases are in good agreement with previous numerical and experimental results. The instantaneous wake patterns of oscillating cylinder with different oscillating frequency ratios showed the synchronized wakes pattern in the lock-in region and vortex switching phenomenon at higher frequency ratio than the critical frequency ratio.

1,300 MWe 가압경수로 공동내에서 중성자의 흐름해석이 수행되었다. 중성자의 흐름을 해석하는데는 1차원 수송코드인 ANISN, 2차원 수송코드인 DOT3.5, 3차원 Monte Carlo 코드인 TRIPOLI-02와 이들을 접속시켜주는 DOTTRI 등의 전산코드가 이용되었고, 본 계산에 사용된 전산기는 IBM 3033형이었다. 계산된 선속 및 선량율은 900 MW 가압경수로의 공동내에서 측정한 측정치와 비교검토 되었고, 그 결과 중성자 군별로 약간의 오차는 있었으나 전체적으로 큰 오차는 없었다. 이 결과는 대용량의 원자로 차폐설계, 원자로보수시, 기타 원자로 공동내에 출입할 경우에 방사선방어상 필요한 방어수단을 제공하는데 기여하였다.
