This study aims at the determination of the coefficienties of runoff and infiltration affecting runoff. The rating curve is more available than the peak flood runoff to determine flood control plan of flood control reservoir and the volume of hydroelectric power plant, or to make multipurpose dam. In hydrologic analysis and design, it is necessary to develop relations between precipitation and runoff, possible using some of the factors affecting runoff as parameters. In order to calculate the runoff discharge, the runoff process constituting elements are divided to the surface runoff, the subsurface runoff and the groundwater runoff. By comparing the computed hydrograph with the measured hydrograph, determinned the watershed TANK Model constant Varying the tank model constant for approximating the computed hydrograph to the measured hydrograph.

In this study, three different unit hydrograph methods (Snyder, SCS, Clark) in the HEC-HMS were compared to find better fit with the observed data in the small agricultural watershed. Baran watershed, having $3.85km^2$ in size, was selected as a study watershed. The watershed input data for HEC-HMS were retrieved using HEC-GeoHMS which was developed to assist making GIS input data for HEC-HMS. Rainfall and water flow data were monitored since 1996 for the study watershed. Fifty five storms from 1996 to 2003 were selected for model calibration and verification. Three unit hydrograph methods were compared with the observed data in terms of simulated peak runoff, peak time and total direct runoff for the selected storms. The results showed that the coefficient of determination ($R^2$) for the observed peak runoff was $0.8666{\sim}0.8736$ and root mean square error, RMSE, was $5.25{\sim}6.37\;m^3/s$ for calibration stages. In the model verification, $R^2$ for the observed peak runoff was $0.8588{\sim}0.8638$ and RMSE was $9.57{\sim}11.80\;m^3/s$, which were slightly less accurate than the calibrated data. The simulated flood hydrographs were well agreed with the observed data. SCS unit hydrograph method showed best fit, but there was no significant difference among the three unit hydrograph methods.
A representative unit hydrograph responding to a small basin is used to calculate the flood discharge in the basin. The peak discharge and the time to peak of the unit hydrograph are dealt with its characteristic values. In this study it is shown and analyzed the fluctuations at peak discharges and times to peak of unit hydrographs by rainfall storms in a small national basin $8.5\;km^2$ wide are no small. And on assumption that a major factor in the fluctuations of the unit hydrographs in a small basin be rainfall intensity of a rainstorm, both relations of peak discharge and time to peak with rainfall intensity are suggested as exponential functions respectively. In this result although it is a limit of the study in which its result is accompanied with not small dispersion in the peak values of unit hydrograph due to a defect in used data it is sure an averaging regression relation between peak discharge and time to peak with rainfall intensity as identified in this study has hydrological worth from the complementary viewpoint of the theory of unit hydrograph.
The development of the method for flood runoff analysis representing Korean mountain basins have been one of big concerns for Korean hydrologists for several decades. Several traditional methods dealing with unit hydrograph have been restricted to be used in Korea basins, because of its drawbacks due to its originality from other countries and the uncertainties of control parameters as well as its linearity assumption between rainfall and runoff relationship. In this paper, several geomorphological similarity relationships for Korean mountain basins was developed by using the experimental data over 40 Korean basins. Then those were applied directly to geomorphological unit hydrograph theory to meet Korean geomorphological unit hydrograph. The developed method was applied to Andong Dam basin. The results show the applicability and simplicity of the developed Korean geomorphological unit hydrograph generally for Korean mountain basins in future. It might be needed for more validations and applications of this method over Korean regions.

The methodology of synthetic unit hydrograph using geomorphic characteristics was suggested. Six geomorphic components over 19 watersheds were used to estimate synthetic unit hydrograph and the test watersheds were classified into two groups on the basis of the area of $200km^2$. The regression formulas between standardized geomorphic characteristics for each group and peak quantities of specific streamflow and time of representative unit hydrograph were suggested and the Nash and the Clark unit hydrographs were derived. For verifying the derived unit hydrographs, the resulting hydrographs were compared with the ones using the existing Clark unit hydrographs based on the empirical parameter estimation for the 145 storm events during 2010 to 2011 for the additional six watersheds. The results showed the relatively higher performance over the existing synthetic unit hydrograph methods, which could be a contribution to the hydrologic estimation in ungauged watersheds.
Estimation of runoff peak is needed to assess water availability, in order to support the multifaceted water uses and functions, hence to underscore the modalities for efficient water utilization. The magnitude of storm rainfall acts as a primary input for basin level runoff computation. The rainfall-runoff linkage plays a pivotal role in water resource system management and feasibility level planning for resource distribution. Considering this importance, a case study has been carried out in the Hancheon basin of Jeju Island where distinctive hydrological characteristics are investigated for continuous storm rainfall and high permeable geological features. The study aims to estimate unit hydrograph parameters, peak runoff and peak time of storm rainfalls based on Clark unit hydrograph method. For analyzing observed runoff, five storm rainfall events were selected randomly from recent years' rainfall and HEC-hydrologic modeling system (HMS) model was used for rainfall-runoff data processing. The simulation results showed that the peak runoff varies from 164 to 548 m3/sec and peak time (onset) varies from 8 to 27 hours. A comprehensive relationship between Clark unit hydrograph parameters (time of concentration and storage coefficient) has also been derived in this study. The optimized values of the two parameters were verified by the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and runoff comparison performance were analyzed by root mean square error (RMSE) and Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency (NSE) estimation. After statistical analysis of the Clark parameters significance level was found in 5% and runoff performances were found as 3.97 RMSE and 0.99 NSE, respectively. The calibration and validation results indicated strong coherence of unit hydrograph model responses to the actual situation of historical storm runoff events.

This study was attempted to get dimensionless unit hydrograph by linear model which can be used to the estimation of flood for the development of Agricultural water resources and laid emphasis on the application of dimensionless unit hydrographs for the ungaged watersheds by applying linear model. The results summarized through this study are as follows. 1.Peak discharge is found to be Qp= CAR (C =0. 895A-o.145) having high significance between peak discharge, Qp and effective rainfall, R within the range of small watershed area, 84 to 470km2. consequently, linearity was acknowledged between rainfall and runoff. Reasonability is confirmed for the derivation of dimensionless unit hydrograph by linear model. 2.Through mathematical analysis, formula for the derivation of dimensionless unit hydrograph was derived. qp--p=(tp--t)n-1[e-(n-1)](tp--t-1) 3.Moment method was used for the evaluation of storage constant, K and shape parameter, n for the derivation of dimensionless unit hydrograph. Storage constant, K is more closely related with the such watershed characteristics as length of main stream and slopes. On the other hand, the shape parameter, n was derived with such watershed characteristics as watershed area, river length, centroid distance of the basin and slopes. 4.Time to peak discharge, Tp could be expressed as Tp=1. 25 (√s/L)0.76 having a high significance. 5.Dimensionless unit hydrographs by linear model stood more closely to the observe dimensionless unit hydrographs On the contrary, dimensionless unit hydrographs by S.C. S. method has much difference in comparison with linear model at the falling limb of hydrographs. 6.Relative errors in the q/qp at the point of 0.8 and 1.2 for the dimensionles ratio by linear model and S. C. S. method showed to be 2.41, 1.57 and 4.0, 3.19 percent respectively to the q/qp of observed dimensionless unit hydrographs. 7.Derivation of dimensionless unit hydrograph by linear model can be accomplished by linking the two empirical formulars for storage constant, K, and shape parameter, n with derivation formular for dimensionless unit hydrograph for the ungaged small watersheds.
An attempt is made to develope a scheme for synthesizing unit hydrograph for any arbitrary small watershed in the Han or Geum River basin, which can be applied in determining various sizes of design flood for flood control prijects. Stage gauging stations, seven in the Han and five in the Geun River basin with rating curves, were selected as subbasins for the analysis. Unit hydrographs of 2-hour duration were derived for several heavy storm events using the storm and the corresponding flood runoff data for each subbasin. The Clark method programmed by the Hydrologic Engineering Center, U.S. Corps of Engineers, was utilized for derivation of instantaneous unit hydrographs which were, in turn, converted into 2-hour unit hydrograph. By averaging the 2-hour unit hydrographs from several storm events a representative 2-hour unit hydrograph was determined for each subbasin and hence a separate derivation of dimensionless unit hedrograph was also possible for the Han and Geum River basins. The physiographic characteristics such as stream length, distance to the centroid of each watershed were correlated with the characteristic parameters of the derived unit hydrograph for the subbasins within two large basins. correlation analyses between the characteristic parameters were also made. These correlation analyses resulted a series of four equations and a dimensionless unit hydrograph for the two large basins, which made it possible to draw a synthetic 2-hour unitgraph for any small watershed within the Han or Geum River basin. A detailed procedure for aplying the derived method for an arbitrary basin is summarized with one sample computation for each of the two basins. A comparison of the actually derived 2-hour unit hydrogrograph and the synthesized one showed a fair agreement. A recommendation is made for the further study.
The purpose of this study is to examine the methods of estimation, comparing U.S. SCS method and $\Phi$-index with effective rainfall. And also comparision was made among SCS method, Chow method and Mockus method as to the peak discharge of design storm hydrograph by small river basin. Hydrological data of the Shin river basin which was used in this study and the results of study are as follow; 1) As a result of applying the SCS method to determine the effective rainfall out of total rainfall, it turned out that the everage CN of the basin as obtained by the analysis of hydrologic soil-cover complex was varied as follows; AMC-I was 27.9%, AMC-II 16.4%, AMC-III 8.1% less than the value given by SC method using discharge measurement. 2) The comparision of effective rainfall by the ungaged SCS method with that of gauged $\Phi$-index method showed that the $\Phi$-index method showed that the $\Phi$-index method gives large value by 4.7% to those given by hydrograph. The result of analysis by the SCS method resulted in great difference from discharge measurement. 3) The comparision of SCS method, Chow method, and Mockus method showed that dimensionless hydrograph of SCS method and Chow method were close to the peak discharge of the gauged unit hydrograph, while the other methods gave far different results. 4) Attempts were made, for a better adaptation to the Shin river basin, to introduce lag time formula constant of dimensionless hydrograph of the SCS method by using the peak discharge of the gauged flow hydrograph.

Rainfall-runoff characteristics are analysed based on the geomorphological instantaneous unit hydrograph(GIUH) derived by geomorphological parameters using geographical information system in watershed ungaged or deficient of field data. Observed data of Seom river experiment watershed at upstream of Hoengseong dam and variable slope method for hydrograph separating of direct non are used. The 4th stream order of Seom river experimental watershed is developed with a regular correlation referred to the Horton-Strahler's law of stream order. The characteristic velocity to determine shape parameter of GIUH is 1.0m/s and its equation is modified for accurate results. Hydrograph at the outlet of 4th stream order of Maeil gage station and at the outlets of 3rd stream order of Sogun and Nonggeori gage stations show a little differences in falling limb of hydrograph but agree well to the observed data in general. The results by hydrological routing with HEC-HMS to the outlet of 4th stream order of Maeil gage station which the hydrograph by GIUH obtained at Sogun and Nonggeori gage stations of 3rd stream oder are applied as upstream inputs give better agreement with observed data than those by hydrograph by GIUH obtained at Maeil gage station of 4th stream order. In general, the rainfall-runoff by GIUH has applicability to the watershed routing of ungaged project regions.
