Highly ordered Li dispersed nickel oxide nanotubes were prepared with anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template for hydrogen storage. Electron microscope results showed that uniform length and diameter of nickel oxide nanotubes were obtained. The wall thickness and outer diameter of nickel oxide nanotubes are about 40 - 50 nm and 200 - 400 nm, respectively. It was observed that the diameter of nickel oxide nanotubes is bigger than the pore diameter of AAO template. Li dispersed nickel oxide were consisted of nanoflakes and had structures of nanotubes and nanorods. For increasing the hydrogen adsorption and desorption capacity, the Li dispersed nickel oxide nanotubes were fluorinated. The fluorinated Li dispersed nickel oxide nanotubes showed 1.65 wt% of the hydrogen adsorption capacities at 77 K under 47 atm.
We investigated hydrogen storage and production properties using redox system of iron oxide($Fe_{3}O_{4}$ + $4H_{2}$${\leftrightarrows}$ 3Fe + $4H_{2}O$) modified with rhodium, ceria and zirconia under atmospheric pressure. Reduction of iron oxide with hydrogen(hydrogen storage) and re-oxidation of reduced iron oxide with steam(hydrogen evolution) was carried out using a temperature programmed reaction(TPR) technique. On the temperature programmed studies, the effects of amounts of cerium and zirconium on the re-oxidation rate of partial reduced iron oxides were increased with increasing metal additives amount, but the rhodium amount showed little effect on the re-oxidation rate. On the thermal studies, the re-oxidation rates were enhanced with increasing temperature(300 $^{\circ}C$ < 350 $^{\circ}C$).
The characteristics of oxidation for the Zry-4 was measured in the $800^{\circ}C$ and high steam pressure (50 bar, 75 bar, 100 bar) conditions, using an apparatus for high pressure steam oxidation. The effect of accelerated oxidation by high-pressure steam was increased more than 60% in hydrogen-charged cladding than normal cladding. This difference between hydrogen charged claddings and normal claddings tends to be larger as the higher pressure. The accelerated oxidation effect of hydrogen charging cladding is regarded as the hydrogen on the metal layer affects the formation of the protective oxide layer. The creation of the sound monoclinic phase in Zry-4 oxidation influences reinforcement of corrosion-resistance of the oxide layer. The oxidation is estimated to be accelerated due to the creation of equiaxial type oxide film with lower corrosion resistance than that of columnar type oxide film. When tetragonal oxide film transformed into the monoclinic oxide film, surface energy of the new monoclinic phase reduced by hydrogen in the metal layer.
The effect of Sacchromyces cerevisiae-Fermented Sophorae Radix water extract (SFS) on production of hydrogen peroxide and nitric oxide (NO) from mouse macrophage Raw 264.7 Cells treated with nicotine (1 mM) was investigated through this study. SFS (0, 25, 50, 100, 200, 400 ug/mL) was simultaneously treated with nicotine (1 mM) during culture of 4, 20, 24, 44, 48, 68, and 72 hr. And the intracellular productions of hydrogen peroxide were measured by dihydrorhodamine 123 (DHR) assay. NO production after 24 hr treatement was measured with Griess reagent assay. SFS restored the production of hydrogen peroxide and NO reduced by nicotine (1 mM) in Raw 264.7 Cells. These results suggests that SFS could be supposed to have the immunological activity concerned with macrophage's oxidative burst including hydrogen peroxide and NO.

2R,3R-Butanediol, a volatile compound produced by certain rhizobacteria, is involved in induced drought tolerance in Arabidopsis thaliana through mechanisms involving stomatal closure. In this study, we examined the involvement of nitric oxide and hydrogen peroxide in induced drought tolerance, because these are signaling agents in drought stress responses mediated by abscisic acid (ABA). Fluorescence-based assays showed that systemic nitric oxide and hydrogen peroxide production was induced by 2R,3R-butanediol and correlated with expression of genes encoding nitrate reductase and nitric oxide synthase. Co-treatment of 2R,3R-butanediol with an inhibitor of nitrate reductase or an inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase lowered nitric oxide production and lessened induced drought tolerance. Increases in hydrogen peroxide were negated by co-treatment of 2R,3R-butanediol with inhibitors of NADPH oxidase, or peroxidase. These findings support the volatile 2R,3R-butanediol synthesized by certain rhizobacteria is an active player in induction of drought tolerance through mechanisms involving nitric oxide and hydrogen peroxide production.
The characteristics of a titanium oxide layer prepared using a plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) process were investigated, using an extended gate ion sensitive field effect transistor (EG-ISFET) to confirm the layer's capability to react with hydrogen ions. The surface morphology and element distribution of the PEO-processed titanium oxide were observed and analyzed using field-emission scanning-electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and energy-distribution spectroscopy (EDS). The titanium oxide prepared by the PEO process was utilized as a hydrogen-ion sensing membrane and an extended gate insulator. A commercially available n-channel enhancement MOS-FET (metal-oxide-semiconductor FET) played a role as a transducer. The responses of the PEO-processed titanium oxide to different pH solutions were analyzed. The output drain current was linearly related to the pH solutions in the range of pH 4 to pH 12. It was confirmed that the titanium-oxide layer prepared by the PEO process could feasibly be used as a hydrogen-ion-sensing membrane for EGFET measurements.

A black nickel oxide powder, one of the commercial nickel oxide ores, was reduced by hydrogen gas in a batch-type fluidized-bed reactor in a temperature range of 350 to $500^{\circ}C$ and in a residence time range of 5 to 120 min. The hydrogen reduction behavior of the black nickel oxide was found to be somewhat different from that of green nickel oxide ore. For the black nickel oxide, the maximum temperature (below which nickel oxide particles can be reduced without any agglomeration) was significantly lower than that observed for the green nickel oxide. In addition, the best curve fittings of the Avrami model were obtained at higher values of the overall rate constant "k" and at lower values of the exponent "m", compared to those values for the green nickel oxide. It may be inferred from these results that the hydrogen reduction rate of the black nickel oxide is faster than that of the green nickel oxide in the early stages, but the situation reverses in the later stages. For the black nickel oxide ore, in spite of the low temperature sintering, it was possible to achieve a high degree fluidized-bed reduction at lower temperatures and at lower gas consumption rates than was possible for the green nickel oxide. In this regard, the use of black nickel oxide is expected to yield a benefit if its ore price is sufficiently lower than that of the green nickel oxide.
Calcium oxide, lithium oxide and titanium oxide were investigated as additives of zinc oxide for the removal of hydrogen sulfide at high temperature. This experiment was performed in the range of 1.0-2.0 vol.% H$_2$S concentration at 623-873 K reaction temperature, using a thermogravimetric analyzer. A pore blocking model was found to fit the reaction rate and the kinetics data were sucessfully expressed by this model. The reactions between additive sorbents and hydrogen sulfide were first order with respect to hydrogen sulfide concentration in a gaseous mixture with nitrogen. Among the used sorbents, ZnO-CaO 0.5 at.% and ZnO-TiO$_2$ 2.0 at.% sorbents had the best additive effects on the sulfidation reaction between additive sorbents and hydrogen sulfide, whereas the ZnO-Li$_2$O sorbents were ineffective.

Mn-Fe oxide and Mn-Fe oxide/$ZrO_2$(50wt%/50wt%) were prepared by ball milling method. XRD data of the prepared samples revealed that hematite and ferrite phase coexisted. Water splitting at 1273K, after thermal reduction at 1573K, was performed 4 times for the samples. Hydrogen production amount was analyzed by GC with TCD detector. Water splitting capacity of Mn-Fe oxide was improved by ball milling with $ZrO_2$.
We studied the effect of temperature and reaction time by investigating the various temperatures and reaction times in the reduction of molybdenum oxide ($MoO_3$) to molybdenum (Mo) powder in hydrogen gas. We also studied the effect of the reaction of reduction according to the various hydrogen gas flow rates. We surveyed the reduction from molybdenum oxide to molybdenum powder in hydrogen gas and checked two temperature ranges, one from $400^{\circ}C$ to $600^{\circ}C$ and the other from $700^{\circ}C$ to $900^{\circ}C$. We found that the reaction ratio of molybdenum oxide increased with an increasing temperature and also increased with an increasing reaction time, but hydrogen gas did not influence the reduction ratio of molybdenum oxide. We examined molybdenum powders fabricated by ball milling for two hours, using with X-ray diffraction (XRD) and a scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
